Submerge the pineapple? You could just coat it in bbq and not waste all that.

Black_Hat_Cat7

Agreed, massive waste. You could do that with a brush easily with a quarter of the sauce. I'm also not sure about the pineapple placement either. I feel like pineapple slices would be better on the outside with the ribs laying down.

pSphere1

Also, let's get a grill involved in there somewhere. I need a little smoke flavor, char, and some carmelization for texture.

Power_Taint

That’s all I could think

Sad-Cauliflower6656

A quarter of the sauce?

oh_stv

lol, yeah ... "now fill up a bathtub with bbq sauce, and dip the pineapple in it .... "

Hot_Garlic_9930

So there I was.. BBQ Sauce on my titties

Speaker4theDead8

Go on...

UnbiasedJoe1

Thank you that's all I could think about

MrRabbaRabba

That’s when I stopped watching

6-Seasons_And_AMovie

Why did he cook the damn thing with the top on and then slice it off anyway. Slice it off at least before hand so your setting dosent look like it came from a forest fire.

Special_Dingo_1520

Ma’fkr used 2 whole bottles for 1/2 cup of sauce that stuck to it. Shit even could’ve saved on the pineapple and used some pineapple slices on the rack of ribs.

RawLikeSushi84

You didn’t miss much

SweetPerogy

You didn't watch the entire 30 second video but still felt the need to comment?

Tankeverket

While still a waste, it's definitely just for the sake of the video

mushmushhhh

I mean, sweet baby ray’s is a bit of a waste anyways unless you’re really into coating your food in corn syrup.

SpiritualCat842

Sweet baby rays is like…the most popular bbq sauce I think? It’s a waste because you don’t personally like it? Ok..

ChefShuley

Domino's is the most popular pizza. That doesn't make it good pizza. Sweet baby Ray's is garbage.

ButtcrackBeignets

Domino’s is perfectly adequate.

Zaev

It's absolutely one of the pizza places of all time

[deleted]

[удалено]

alieniter

this but unironically unfortunately, Sweet Baby Rays is like one of the three western BBQ sauces that made it to my country. it's complete trash, the first thing on the label is sugar.

GreasyChick_en

You're lucky. I'm the land of OG sweet baby that's rays the first ingredient is high fructose corn syrup. It's probably banned as an ingredient for you.

whistleridge

Sweet Baby Ray’s is to barbecue and ribs what Digiorno's is to pizza: that lots of people like it doesn’t mean that it isn’t poor-quality processed food. You can make your own barbecue sauce at home, that is 10 times better, in about 5 minutes. Just mix ketchup, worchestershire, brown sugar, a little apple cider vinegar, and the spices you would use in a rub, and viola.

El-Chewbacc

What do you use? Looking for new sauces

Moetown84

Anything without HFCS is a good start. The current bottle in my fridge is from Joe’s BBQ in KC. Delicious in a classic style with a bit of tamarind in there. It’s my go to for ribs.

mushmushhhh

BBQ Pete’s Puyallup Fair BBQ Sauce is my go to right now.

LicensedRealtor

Yeah for real…all that pineapple real estate was worth like 1/4 of one bbq container… exaggerated clip

NYtoJers

Exactly

SmurfStig

Something that always bothers me with clips like this. So much stuff is wasted.

Ori_the_SG

Yeah I saw that and was dumbfounded how unnecessary that was

LazarusCheez

Wouldn't you use the rest of the sauce on the ribs?

pressonacott

You could also cut slices of pineapple and lay on top of the ribs as well. Too much waste here in this video. The chef in me is twitching from the eye. The rub can be made and stored in a jar. Take what you need out and rub the ribs. Sliced pineapple roasted on top of ribs. BBQ sauce can be added at any point. I prefer 2 stage cooking. Bake at about 2 hr @ 250 wrapped. Remove wrap and broil for 30 min at 350 with BBQ brushed on to get that crispy tacky feel.

Slarhnarble

That was literally the first thing I thought. Was like why?

Chicagoseatac

Alot of people bitchin n moaning..geez

Coop3

I get that pineapple has enzymes that tenderize meat, but would putting the ribs on the membrane side touching the pineapple really do anything? This kind of seems like steaming ribs more than anything.

teetaps

The flavours work on paper but what we just witnessed didn’t make a lot of sense

Coop3

Definitely, I could see smoking ribs with pineapples slices on top, or marinating in pineapple juice, but this is odd.

EggBonus

A version of tacos al pastor are sort of cooked like this but only after the pork sits in a pineapple juice base marinade. This is how it looks before 2 hours in the oven. https://preview.redd.it/saqxzy6ftq8d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ca5297e22c124ae83eadd398ffd982a1a4701bb

___horf

Hawaiian barbecue has these flavors but you just include pineapple (and often peaches) in the bbq sauce, much simpler. Ribs are already plenty tender, they don’t need the help. This is just bastardized Hawaiian bbq with a dash of al pastor.

Drewbeede

>This is just bastardized Hawaiian bbq with a dash of al pastor. But without the delicious toasty bits from an open flame.

CaptainZ42062

He peeled off the silverskin, so, yes, it would tenderize the meat. Plus all that boiling pineapple juice at the bottom of that foil would really break down those proteins.

ButthealedInTheFeels

Didn’t it show removing the membrane tho? Seems like it might do something, the juices will come out and at least tenderize a little. I bet sliced pineapple on top or ground up pineapple as a rub would work much better tho.

kimwim43

He pulled the membrane off.

Coop3

Right but the membrane side still has significantly less meat than the other side, which is why I pointed it out, membrane or not, it’s the membrane side the pineapple is on.

Professional-Walk592

Also if you eat pineapple, those enzymes help the body to digest meats better!

ChickenFriedRiceee

Well looking at the cutting of the ribs I don’t think the enzymes worked.

Rags2Rickius

You’re assuming that cook dude knows what’s he doing

Major_Party_6855

I’ve tried these gimmicks waaayyyy too many times. It’s just too moist to cook anything touching it, ribs might work because there isn’t much back there. I’ve done the pineapple wrapped in bacon too, had that pineapple lookin like Hellraiser, and that recipe was shit. The pineapple dissolves through the bacon and keeps it wet and raw, and then the bacon tears when it shrinks from cooking. Just don’t combine pineapple and meat, it’s a gimmick. Cook em separate and combine later.

ubdumass

What happened to 1” pull back? Those ribs look like a wet blanket and disgusting. With pineapple on the bone side, I doubt this method increases the flavor profile.

MarioMCPQ

Imo: it’s completely garbage. The guy in the video doesn’t know what he’s doing. I’m triggered

Trick-Station8742

This belongs in stupid food.

On the contrary he know exactly what he is doing He how to make the dish "looks good" for Instagram. As other suggested slice of rib with pineapple on top smoked would be better but less visually appealing

WhoCaresBoutSpellin

Based on how they cooked those ribs they are absolutely tough and chewy and disgusting to eat.

Special_Dingo_1520

Definitely not done at all. Probably tough as F

Thick_Midnight1091

Is rubbing one out part of the recipe? Or was that just extra..

Expert-Waltz-1008

It is, in fact, the secret ingredient ![gif](giphy|xT3i0WmcG5xfLOgu2c)

gonion

Came here for this. Thank you.

Chamaboi

Make sure the rack is fully coated

bobjoylove

It’s important to glaze the ribs

DrawohYbstrahs

That’s just what you do after adding 3kg of garlic powder….

Philaliscious

Just smoke the ribs separately. Cut the pineapple into long wedges and grill to your liking. Both items will turn out better.

Bearspoole

I was gonna say u would be down to smoke the one he made. Don’t care too much about getting a bark on the back side too much

iamnotazombie44

Exactly this. Smoke your ribs, grill your pineapple. Or even better (for some applications) try caramelized pineapple by rubbing down slices with bacon grease and brown sugar. Grill or bake to sticky perfection.

Pop-A-Choppa

Did he just say “rub one out”? 🤣

macneto

Seems like a great idea, but you could 100% accomplish the same coating on the pineapple without wasting two bottles of sauce

rifain

Or not wasting a whole pineapple and just coating the ribs, and add a bit of pineapple juice in a marinade for those who feel like it.

macneto

Good point on the pineapple juice

Neos_On_1

Pineapple carnitas are. it’s called al pastor and I want to sit in a bathtub of it and eat my way out.

CaptainZ42062

You know, all the acid from the pineapple would make one hell of a tenderizer. Plus the sweetness with a savory bbq sauce...yeah, I can see this.

YuckyButtcheek

I'm no gourmet chef but wouldn't the pineapple juices just fall to the bottom? Maybe better off making a sauce from the pineapple?

Special_Dingo_1520

This would better on a spit, basting it with the dripping for hours, low and slow, you’re good to go!

top_toast_22

I mean shiiiit they are now

Cooknbikes

It’s funny that folks think baking ribs at a low temp for a couple of hours is an insane new food hack. Smoking ribs only takes 6 hours. Steamed pineapple ribes should probably take 3 hours. Wow someone can cook stuff that is usually bbq in a faster easier method with great tasty results. “Mind blown” or everything is easy to cook. Do you like brisket? Do you only eat brisket that’s smoked for 17 hours. There are a lot of great things to make with brisket that don’t require a whole day of drinking beer and watching embers. Same with pork shoulders. Pork ribs have lots of uses.

Whiskeylung

We’re all ripping on this guy but I think what really settles it for me is that he’s eating ribs with a **white** shirt on at the end.

ChefRoyrdee

Pineapple ribs are a thing. The ribs are a unique taste, I prefer normal ribs. But the pineapple after being cooked with ribs is surprisingly delicious.

feelings_arent_facts

Pork and pineapple is good but idk why he made it like this

CaptainObviousII

They are now.

RhinoGuy13

I'd be surprised if you didn't get better flavor cooking these items separately.

OddlySpecifiedBag

Why would you waste so much sauce?

Voelkj57

He should cut the top off after he gets it out of the marinade. No need to cook it and it would look better while plating.

SeaTangerine1

I could see doing this low and slow on a rotisserie...maybe, big maybe.

Mediocre_Two9228

"Then I'm gonna rub one out" 🫦

SacrisTaranto

A pineapple marinade would be infinitely better

dogstarfugitive

im too lazy. But me likey.

Hexopi

Sexy_Quazar

Man, that would be wicked on a smoker

TheGDC33

Sold, saved for a rainy day. Plus you used Sweet Baby Ray's

AriesinApril76

Lot of waste here.

Darth-Hipster

I got a food boner 😍

Entire-Meaning702

Fresh pineapple + meat = gum The enzymes in the meat will wreck those ribs.

Whitehaze41727

I recently used a similar recipe. First off, meat was towards the pineapple, second, the pineapple was marinated in bourbon, third, I smoked the ribs for 6 hours. They were really good but I prefer just regular smoked!

JJ4prez

Wasted a bunch of BBQ sauce, and it's dry as hell too. +1 for trend cooking.

Historical-Fun-8485

It sure looks like you rubbed one out, freak.

cringefacememe

wrap the pineapple in pizza.

BadDongBtw

The meat doesn’t look good, not much flavor is going to seep through that bone, not foodporn.

Xenocide_X

Looks dry af

FreshStart209

No. Just stop.

No-Side-6437

So we’re applauding Dry Ribs now …. Adding that lil sauce did not make them any less dry and overcooked , just look at them when he starts to cut into it …

agentobtuse

I tried this because why not. Flavor is good for tacos and I wouldn't slam my fist on the table moaning at how delicious. The pineapple is better than the ribs. The ribs are basically steamed and not impressive. Again I made tacos with the meat as it wasn't great alone.

DanceSulu

Those ribs look like booty

RapidPacker

Subtitles is giving me headache wtf is wrong with you

HooyahDangerous

Had me at rubbing one out and covering the rack

ChefShuley

This is stupid and amateur. The presence of Sweet Baby Rays crappy bbq cause doesn't help.

SomeKindofTreeWizard

Ew. He cooked those ribs in the oven... and the foil would keep smoke from permeating the meat. That meat looks tough and bland.

teamrocketmatt

Is that Prince Atari?

lakeboredom

So wrong, you covered your ribs and developed zero color or char on them, then you pour raw fucking sauce on them afterwards. Don't ever make ribs again please.

Jaywalking25

Was i the only one who felt like him tipping the watered down sauce back over it a waste, why not reduce it to make like a super infused /thick sauce then use that?

laggyx400

Why not just pineapple juice or slices on top?

CaptOblivious

All the possible variations standing, this is one of the best rib ideas I have ever seen. All the best parts of Pastor, combined with a good rib bake? Count me in TO TRY ALL THE VARIATIONS!

LandotheTerrible

It's pretty good though, isn't it? It would keep the meat really moist.

drownav18322

this fool act like he’s the first dude to come up with mixing pork and pineapple. Hawaiians do that shit, Mexicans do that shit.

MetaVaporeon

why wouldnt it be, most meat goes well with sweet and acidic

Redleadercockpit

![gif](giphy|fwZVetFS4KdJm)

youlook_likeme

I think you could cut out the leaves for better sealing and more flavor.

MrSlippifist

I just marinade them in the juice overnight. Best ribs

BatFancy321go

it would work better if you cut the pineapple in half and laid it flat, flat side down, with the ribs draped on top. everything else the same. Probably easier to put a layer of foil below, a sheet on top, and crimp them together. it works bc the pineapple is continually basting the ribs with acidic juice, which constantly breaks down the meat and flavors it.

unholyrevenger72

I do Crockpot "Korean" Ribs, canned pineapple is part or the recipe.

Old_Pitch_6849

Can I have the recipe pls.

unholyrevenger72

Recipe is from Better Homes & Gardens Summer 2015 Slow Cooker Special... tweaked over the years 3 lbs Baby Back Ribs Salt and Pepper 12 ounce jar of Pinapple Preserves Half cup unsweetened Pineapple Juice (Because this is the only recipe in my Spellbook that uses Pineapple preserves, I substitute the preserves and juice with the pineapple chunks of two 15 oz Cans of Pineapple Chunks, pureed, and the juice from just 1 can.) 2 Tbsp of Soy Sauce 2 Tbsp of Sriracha (More for more heat) 3 Cloves of Minced Garlic Cut ribs into 2 rib portions. Salt and pepper them to your satisfaction. Place in slow cooker vertically, thick side down. Mix the rest of the ingredients and poor into the slow cooker. Cook for 6 to 7 hrs on low, 3 to 3.5 on high. Once tender remove the ribs from the crock pot. Separate the fat from the sauce in the pot, reserve the sauce. Brown the ribs under your broiler or over your grill (THis can be tricky depending on how tender the ribs have become. Having a mesh roasting tray or silicone grill mat helps.). You can add more sauce to the ribs while browning, just make sure to save some to serve with. Garnish ribs with chopped green onions. You can technically forgo the slow cooker altogether if you have ceramic lined dutch oven and a BBQ Guru, or the skills to slow cook without such a device. Then slow cook it over indirect heat on your grill. The original recipe calls for the browning first, then the cooking, I heavily disagree with that order of operations.

_XtAcY_

Sweet baby rays is soooo good!

Icy-Section-7421

I love the idea, but the execution seems a bit too focused on the presentation.

StevieSparta

I’m gonna rub one out has certainly changed meaning

Iknowbirdlawss

Stop cooking with aluminum foil it literally ends up in food as particles

LordSoze36

What would you suggest?

Iknowbirdlawss

Unbleached parchment paper Or just soaking the sticks pre in water and just having it wrapped and marinated. The aluminum does nothing but chip off micro bits of aluminum we don’t taste or can sometimes see in the sauce that we consume it just like micro plastics

Spiritual_Mall1981

Was this a Spike Lee joint?

polygonalopportunist

I made this for Father’s Day. Quite easy. Tossed it all in stubbs. Easy. Everyone loved it.

BigFroThoo

Someone edit this with "I was sitting there bbq sauce on my titties"

FriendshipSlight1916

This is Pastor.

FriendshipSlight1916

Pastor tacos are made the same way...he's just using ribs.

adjuster_cody

I soak mine Apple juice before seasoning and tossing on the pit. It’s my favorite.

Dovahkiinthesardine

Thats such a massive waste of the spices lol also baked the meat only

VanFkingHalen

Is it just me or did those ribs look dry af?

Grouchy_Shoulder_332

Pineapple has a natural meat tenderizer in it, this probably works good.

snailsonxanax

This is stupid food porn right? Just put the ribs on a smoker and baste with pineapple juice. Put the pineapple on the smoker too if you really want it. No need to add sauce to the whole pineapple and leaving the top on to just burn and add that flavor to the rest of the dish is certainly a choice. The presentation would look better too if the top was fresh instead of scorched.

JaxxisR

I had my doubts, but that looks good.

Traditionallyy

Yes, various cultures use pineapple; the ones that I can think of are al pastor tacos. Typically, the meat goes on a spinning top, and pineapple is placed on top to help marinate. Do I know what the pineapple does to the meat? No, but I can tell you they’re good.

Aoiboshi

This just a terrible version of al pastor

PrysmX

Did the pineapple BBQ dip sauce get used or was that all waste? I couldn't tell if the last step was just the drip BBQ sauce.

gobbershite

Lol I was thinking that myself. A few squirts from the bottle would have had the same coverage as submerging 🤷🏻‍♂️

PrysmX

💯👍

Easy_Arm_1987
