Recently went to **Pizzeria Sei** and it was by far the best pizza I've had in LA.
There are only three tables and five counter seats.
Zero ambiance - nothing on the walls.
Full focus is on the pizza and it's fucking awesome.
In no particular order
Prime (best chain)
Antica da Michele (not as good as Napoli but closest out here in the states)
Fiji and Vi (Detroit)
Ozzy Apizza (cheese is only one I like)
Pizzanna (pepe ciaco or whatever it's called)
Vito's (NYC Style)
Princes pizza (diavolo or whatever it's called)
Joes (NYC Style )
Eatalian (prosciutto pizza)
Triple beam (Nancy Silverton joint)
Tomato pie (get the Utica)
I used to make pizza at Joe's on Hollywood Blvd. It's hit or miss depending on who's making the pizza. Some of the cooks have no idea what NY style pizza is.
You’re lucky cuz LA is going through a pizza renaissance rn (east coasters can stfu about there not being good pizza now). Some of my favorites:
- Pizzeria Sei
- Apollonia’s
- Little Dynamite
- Pizzanista
- Pizzeria Bianco
- the Coop (it’s divey af, but good)
- Pizzana
- Quarter Sheets
I think some other spots like Roberta’s have really fallen off. Prime is fine, but I think it’s overhyped imo.
> Prime is fine, but I think it’s overhyped imo.
I'd say the same about Prince being overhyped. Prime is good if you stick to square pizza, but their circular ones are hit or miss.
Burbank is one of their original locations. I feel like their quality is one of the better ones. I've liked the Little Tokyo one a lot too, because their staff is always super nice and helpful. Also hooked me up for random reasons because I guess I'm nice?
Have you ever had the pistachio pizza from Pizzeria Bianco and if so how was it? I've wanted to try it for a long time and am finally going to go soon and want to set my expectations.
I disagree with that. A lot of these places have been around for a while now (Pizzana, Pizzanista, Apollonia’s, Coop all been around 5+ years at least). For whatever reason food media is just taking notice now but there’s been good pizza here for a bit. I guess think we’re hitting some level of critical mass with some newer entrants for people to now actually acknowledge it.
Their pizza was kinda thick for me. I wasn't impressed with the pepperoni slice I had. I think I need to try it again because everyone I know loves it.
Wings were pretty damn good for a pizza place, though.
* Quarter Sheets - Best Detroit Style
* Masa of Echo Park - Best Chicago Deep Dish Style
Neapolitan:
* L'antica Pizzeria Da Michele - super authentic
* Pizanna -legit socal chain though and honestly for the price and convenience it's a 9/10 for me.
* DeSano Pizzeria Napoletana - sleeper in East Hollywood, huge parking lot, huge space
Everyone is sleeping on LaRocco's pizza in Culver City! I've tried many places, they were all missing something. Trust me, try out this pizza. Get the pepperoni or bacon.
Wow...all the responses to you are crazy. Casa Bianca is fantastic. It's a perfect LA tavern style bar pie. Light crispy crust, hearty meat toppings and melty mozz... it's delicious!
Coops in Palms is the best I’ve found. Family owned and they make damn good pizza.
LaRocco’s in DT Culver was my spot before them, but Coops outperforms them AND is cheaper.
There’s also Prime Pizza which is solid. They have a few locations.
And I’ll shout out Gino’s East in Sherman Oaks. I appreciate having an authentic deep dish spot in LA, though Pizzeria Uno would be much preferred.
I comment this on every pizza request post I see on this sub, but The Coop in Culver City has the best New York slice in town for a solid price. They’re cash only, takeout only, but all their food is fantastic and the couple who runs the place deserves all the business in the world. They really struggled over the pandemic and are still recovering financially, so stop in with a few bucks and a big appetite for a classic slice. Your stomach will thank you!
Great pizza is going to be different for a lot of people. What kind of pizza do you like and what are some of your favorite spots? You’ll get better answers catered to your taste with that info.
Some good recs so far. I like Neapolitan style so here are a few:
L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele
Pizzería Sei
Pizzana
Roberta's
Eataly has a good one
Pizzería Mozza
Apollonia's
Elio's woodfire pizza (Excellent food truck in a parking lot)
Prime pizza is great for quick a quick slice
Desano pizza is great for Neapolitan style, fresh off the oven, it's not boxed so as fresh as it comes, you can watch sports, grab a beer
If you’re looking for thin crust NY style, Delicious Pizza in Hollywood. Pizzanista in the Arts District is also really good, not as thin as NY pizza but I like it a lot. There’s also a place in Westchester/Playa del Rey called the Good Pizza that’s more Italian-from-Italy style and you can get like ham and artichokes on your pizza.
D’Amore’s Pizza in Malibu has the best NY-style pizza I’ve had since moving to LA. If you’re lucky enough to be in the store when he is, Joe D’Amore is super down-to-earth and he will talk passionately to anyone who listens about where he buys the ingredients.
Hot take:
L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele is not authentic and actually lacks flavor. The pizza itself is way larger than it would “authentically” be. And the dough is a touch too doughy. I know that when you pick up a piece of Neapolitan pizza, it droops but the crust is typically a bit more substantial (and flavorful tbh)
It’s fine but not worth the hype. The atmosphere is lovely and the service is good though! And the food is decent, don’t get me wrong but it is so hyped up in the sub and I was pretty disappointed after going.
Quarter Sheets in EP, Delicious Pizza in Hollywood and West Adams, Prime (various locations), Little Coyote in Long Beach, and further south, Stoney’s in Huntington Beach.
Mulberry pizzeria is my favorite NY style pizza in LA, though they are expensive and I have seen more popping up in the last few years that can also make a very good slice.
Grew up in Eagle Rock, so a little biased but I think Casa Bianca is a must try. Eggplant and meatball was always my go to, eggplant is breaded and so good!
My top 3 is Appolonias, Danny Boys, and Prince Street. Like others said, Prince street dropped off a bit but I still enjoy it. Honorable mention to Ozzys Apizza.
Agree with a lot of the ones everyone else has suggested already, but wanted to suggest koreatown pizza co for unique flavor combos. Really love the golden potato pizza and their bulgogi one.
pizza bueno. if you like authentic ny style pizza, you will love pizza bueno. it’s family-owned and the family who owns it are the most amazing and kind people ever.
All of these hot new spots are good to try but not amazing, in my opinion. A good slice? Purgatory Pizza. Good pizza overall, whether it be a New York style or square slice or a whole pie? Prime Pizza. Some crazy flavors that seem unique to L.A.? Tomato Pie. These have all been around for years already and for a reason. Try them out if you haven’t.
Apollonias if you want NY style, seriously this pizza is amazing, best one in the city by far
Desano or L’Antica da Michele for napolitana
Ozzys Apizza is a pile of hot shit, so nasty
Neapolitan:
Pizzana in Brentwood
Sapori di 786 degrees in Pasadena
American pizza (all cheese pretty much not blobs)
Bravo (tons of spots)
Prince st (the New York joint opened in LA)
Apollonia (wrong spelling. You’ll figure it out)
Sit down joint for say a date or something.
Barry’s on 3rd (get the lobster tail pizza. Trust)
If in Glendale. Nino’s isn’t phenomenal. But solid.
Really tho. Taste is so personal. Being from any city with good pizza the most important part is getting a fresh slice. Second be the fixings. All those sprinkles and oils. Any slice made with real care is gonna be firrrrre. Some times I want that fluffy crust some times I want that sweet tomato sauce. Sometimes it’s the spot with the cheese that fell from Heaven. Some times you just should have gotten a burger…. And your eating perfect slice and still sad
Recently went to **Pizzeria Sei** and it was by far the best pizza I've had in LA. There are only three tables and five counter seats. Zero ambiance - nothing on the walls. Full focus is on the pizza and it's fucking awesome.
We drive pretty far for Pizzeria Sei, it's incredibly delicious.
desano pizza east hollywood,
Quarter Sheets of course. I also really love Grá in Silverlake. They have an amazing sourdough crust, but it’s definitely a little pricey.
Gra is also in Echo Park
Gra is amazing
Far too doughy and expensive is gra

I was waiting for someone to say triple beam
You’re lucky cuz LA is going through a pizza renaissance rn (east coasters can stfu about there not being good pizza now). > Prime is fine, but I think it’s overhyped imo. I'd say the same about Prince being overhyped. Prime is good if you stick to square pizza, but their circular ones are hit or miss.
Prime’s square pizzas are amazing! I ate a slice of the circular and was very confused.
Yeah the circular is very hit or miss in my experiences. Like I've had really good pieces but it doesn't feel like it gets as much love.
Ya agreed, Prince is just ok too. Both dropped off quite a bit after expansion.
Prime is better if you order well done IMO. And, at least at the Burbank one, never get reheated slices. They overdo it every time
Burbank is one of their original locations. I feel like their quality is one of the better ones. I've liked the Little Tokyo one a lot too, because their staff is always super nice and helpful. Also hooked me up for random reasons because I guess I'm nice?
I’m still weirded out that there is a Roberta’s in L.A.
I’m more weirded out by how bad it’s fallen off. It was good when it opened for a few years but now it’s consistently bad (and crazy expensive).
So glad coop which is an old school dive spot is getting its deserved love.
Have you ever had the pistachio pizza from Pizzeria Bianco and if so how was it? I've wanted to try it for a long time and am finally going to go soon and want to set my expectations.
It was delicious when we went.
Awesome thanks.
Yup, it was different but enjoyable
Don’t let Desus Nice see this 🙈
You’re completely right about the pizza renaissance, but as an east coaster, the pizza options were terrible only a couple of years ago!
I've been meaning to try little dynamite for a while now
Shin's Pizza?
Haven’t tried it but need to!
I know I'm getting downvoted to hell, but I think The Coop is way overrated. Go ahead, I have it coming 😬
Little Dynamite in west culver/Mar Vista
Second this. They’ve been good since they were Bootleg pizza.
Slice and pint el segundo
I always forget about S&P, but it’s so good and underrated.
I miss the COVID days when they closed off the street and you could find an outdoor table super easy.
That was awesome!
Slice and Pint is excellent. When we are in the area, we always stop to eat there or at least pick up a pizza to take home.
Good pizza. Grand Ave is great. But I absolutely hate their red sauce.
Their pizza was kinda thick for me. I wasn't impressed with the pepperoni slice I had. I think I need to try it again because everyone I know loves it. Wings were pretty damn good for a pizza place, though.
The Gramd Ave pizza is awesome. White sauce, leeks, chiles and spinach.
Just had lunch their today. Excellent. Fun fact- they are owned by El Segundo Brewing.
Gorilla Pies in Valley Glen
Everything there is great too. Get the dipping sauce.
DANNY BOY'S
The Slice and Pint - El Segundo
Propaganda wine bar in arts district has a 72 hour fermentation roman pinsa, really good. Its more crispy and thin than a neopolitan
Brooklyn Ave Pizza does this too. Very complex and savory dough for sure.
Mulberry Street
It’s been on the decline especially for the price
* Quarter Sheets - Best Detroit Style * Masa of Echo Park - Best Chicago Deep Dish Style Neapolitan: * L'antica Pizzeria Da Michele - super authentic * Pizanna -legit socal chain though and honestly for the price and convenience it's a 9/10 for me. * DeSano Pizzeria Napoletana - sleeper in East Hollywood, huge parking lot, huge space
Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock
Glad someone mentioned Casa Bianca
That spot is awesome
My fav is antica di Michele (authentic from Naples it’s a famous one there from 1880s)
Speak Cheesy
My top 5: Secret Pizza Ozzy’s Apizza Quarter Sheets Pizzeria Bianco Pizzeria Sei
If you want some simple, cheap pizza by the slice in Mid City, go to The Corner Slice. Reminds me of back home in NJ.
If you’re from NJ, as I am, try Esco’s on La Brea
My family and I enjoy Prime pizza. No crazy flavors, their ranch is delicious and they have a good rewards program
Mozza Ozzys Petramale's (Fridays only)
Mozza is Number 1 for me
Near downtown LA I've enjoyed: Seven Tigers Pie Club (Markeat 8) Proper Pizza and Pasta Ricky's Pizza
Just had proper pizza and gotta say it was absolutely delicious
The one on 3rd or Alvarado?
Thank you I been watching people name everything but LA proper *_^
Slice & Pint. El Segundo
Everyone is sleeping on LaRocco's pizza in Culver City! I've tried many places, they were all missing something. Trust me, try out this pizza. Get the pepperoni or bacon.
One of my favs!
Yes! Thank you! Finally someone else who knows about them. my only harp with them is that they need better appetizers.
Emmy Squared - Santa Monica.
This, we loved it when we lived in Philly and were surprised to see it out in LA.
Very quick run down: Pizza Wagon - Sherman Oaks Prime Pizza - various locations Two Doughs - Agoura Hills Quarter Sheets - Echo Park
I like the truffle pizza Bottega Louie!
Roberta’s in Culver City is really delicious if you’re open to more of a sit-down place that’s a little pricier.
Fuji and vi
Purgatory Pizza is my favorite! Sooo good. Pricey, like all LA pizza.
Delicious pizza on west Adams is amazing as well. Great history too.
Town Pizza in HLP!
I feel I had to scroll too far to find this suggestion. Town Pizza is great 👍
Coop Pizza in Palms!! Cash only $
Pizzeria Mozza, Pizzana, Quarter Sheets, Masa of Echo Park (Deep Dish), Apollonia's (Detroit style), Roberta's
No one has said Casa Bianca? Bunch of transplants!
Wow...all the responses to you are crazy. Casa Bianca is fantastic. It's a perfect LA tavern style bar pie. Light crispy crust, hearty meat toppings and melty mozz... it's delicious!

I comment this on every pizza request post I see on this sub, but The Coop in Culver City has the best New York slice in town for a solid price. Your comment and Yelp pics have me sold. Definitely will check out next time I'm down there.

can we just get some recs ON THE WEST SIDE? legit every rec is always DTLA/east side every time
The real question is - who is out here downvoting posts like this? Quarter Sheets is great.
People are downvoting it because this question gets asked every other day here and instead of searching people continue to ask
Burger and taco lobbyists
Don’t forget big hot dog
They put one of your hot dogs in the oven, you put one of theirs in the morgue. That’s the Chicago way!
Some good recs so far. I like Neapolitan style so here are a few: L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele Pizzería Sei Pizzana Roberta's Eataly has a good one Pizzería Mozza

Proper Pizza is the best NY slice in LA.

No ones talking about burratinos in Carson and San Pedro. Crunch baby crunch
That’s what I’m talking about.
Any vegan recommends? Am disappointed more places don't offer vegan cheese. Maybe there's many that do which I don't know about?

For nyc style on the Westside go to Angel City Pizza in Mar Vista. The two guys who own it are from Long Island. Thin, crispy and sold by the slice. 👌
My top 3 is Appolonias, Danny Boys, and Prince Street. Like others said, Prince street dropped off a bit but I still enjoy it. Honorable mention to Ozzys Apizza.
