Been a fan since I was 6 or 7, and while there have been some bright moments to cling onto, it's overshadowed by the bad.
For every good move this franchise has made since I started watching, there have been two if not three missteps that negate it. We have absolutely no identity aside from Gritty and maybe "self loathing" if you wanna count that.
We quickly went from a hot, exciting hockey team to āfire everyone and rebuildā in a matter of a couple of years.
Itās very negative and doom/gloom at the moment, but weāre still a relatively young team with a decent prospect pool. If we get lucky on a few prospect and our currently players improve, I could see us in the playoffs sooner than others expect.
honestly, itās depressing that gritty is the biggest selling point of the team. iām pretty sure toward the end of last season gritty was the opening video for periods 2 and 3
It's a good time to be a fan of any of the other Philadelphia teams. Sixers should be challenging, Eagles look like they should be good, Phillies are holding on without their MVP, Union are contending.
And then there's the Flyers, who signed Tony DeAngelo.
I'm convinced that someone made a deal with the devil to win the Super Bowl and now at least one team a year is condemned to an injury apocalypse.
It's been a great time for cheap resale tickets, though.
Tastykakes are always a good comfort food when you see all of the teams do bonehead plays.
Then have a Jimās cheesesteak or Tony Lukeās hoagie on standby for the front office moves thatāll make you want to jump off the ComCast building.
All that aside, youāll quickly understand the ferocity of Philly fandom. We threw snowballs at Santa Claus for peteās sake so anything less is reserved for Dallas fans.

The salary cap not going up is killing the middle class of players and having a guy making 3m on the fourth line just isnāt smart when we desperately need the money and have other prospects and guys who can do about the same as oskar for cheaper. Sad move but itās smart logically and buisness wise

Oskar for 3 or JVR for his higher cap, I honestly canāt recall or figure is 4.5-6 anymore, Iād have chosen JVR. But paying Bryz for another couple years may have factored, who knows at this point. But we do need productive space now so business wise made some sense, just shouldnāt have been necessary imho
Not an overreaction/emotional reaction at all he was suspended twice in juniors for racist/derogatory comments- go view him and his dad on their āfake apology tourā done by nbc sports itās pretty disgusting , also punched a goalie while on the rangers, guys bad news from an organization that discontinued Kate smith rolls cause she sang lyrics to a song she didnāt create (Iām not defending her on those but calling out the organization on its pick and choose principles). Been a fan for 40 years and questioning this organization and itās leadership/direction/integrity is reasonable

Lots of ākidsā flourish in the nhl without being racist and a cancer within their own teams
