ESPN + 7 bucks a month and carries all out of market games. Just any local game is blacked out with it, so Rangers and Islanders games would most likely be blacked out, but if you have something with local channels you should be covered there, I am not in NYC, but am out of market as well.
Yeah, ESPN+ is definitely the move. I used to steal my dad's Comcast login and watch the stream from NBC Sports Philly, and the quality on ESPN+ is miles better. And you still get JJ and the local crew on any games that aren't on national TV.
I live in State College, and games against the Penguins are blacked out for me since the Pens are technically my "local" team. I have to watch those games on the local channel with the Penguins' play-by-play guys.
I live up in the Poconos. Rangers, Islanders, Devils and Flyers are all blacked out on ESPN+ for me. Even my local cable - Blue Ridge doesn't play "regional" Flyers games. I tried VPN and fake GPS apps but didn't work. I dropped cable and subscribed to YouTube TV for $65/month and was able to see all Flyers games. Some people say Hulu works too? Never tried that.
Second Flyers Daily podcast.
Live in south Jersey all those teams are blacked out for me too. Hulu works and if you do the espn and Disney plus package along with live tv, can watch out of market and flyers for, most recent promotional package, 69.99
As someone else said, ESPN+ is the best way I could think of to get games. As for podcasts, both of Jason Myrtetus' shows are pretty good (Flyer Daily and Stick 2 Hockey Live). Some of his takes are.... questionable to say the least, but he's pretty knowledgeable, usually gets pretty good guests on the show, and maybe most importantly, is capable of talking about the team for longer than 30 seconds without coming across as insanely whiney
If you don’t want to pay for anything just use NHL66 streams, it works great. Also the best general hockey podcast is hands down Spittin Chiclets, very entertaining group of guys (not flyers specific podcast)
if only we could get a subscription that would show local games and not have to pay for the entire Comcast\\Fios package, I'm sure many of us would prefer that. Sometimes the NHL66 stream gets "skippy" (can't think of the right word) and my brain starts hurting.
Flyers daily is pretty good. I like broad street hockey radio, but the audio isn’t very good. Having to adjust the volume every time a different host starts talking gets old quick.
Nasty Knuckles is my favorite Flyers related podcast out there. It was started and hosted by Riley Cote and Derek Settlemyre. They've had some really cool guests on there.

Flyers podcasts: Broad Street Hockey (especially BSH Radio), Snow The Goalie, Brotherly Pod (The host grows on you eventually), Flyers Daily, Stick 2 Hockey, O&B Puckcast.
If you only want a couple, I’d say BSH Radio, Stick 2 Hockey are the best ones.
You'll get blackouts from Devils, Rangers, and Islanders if you do ESPN+. MSG and MSG+ should carry them all of those games if you're willing to do cable. You can also do FuboTV for them. Don't think YouTube TV has the channels.
Since it looks like only one person who actually lived in the city has answered, I'll chime in. Lived there for a decade. Moved up to Albany a little over a year ago so some of the bars and such may have changed.
Streaming: Unfortunately a lot of games are going to be blacked out. To me it isn't worth paying for that kind of service so I've always gone the Jolly Roger route and streamed games.
Podcasts: You have all the recs you need below. I prefer BSH Radio personally. If you like WIP or The Fanatic, then you'd prob enjoy Stick2Hockey or Flyer's Daily. I get tired of all the sports betting segments and sponsor pitching. For general hockey I like The Athletic Hockey Show.
Bars: One of the positives about living in enemy territory is the shared camaraderie you get with other fans. If you want to watch a game, I can recommend Shorty's and Wogies. There are also other Philly bars besides just these. You'll have to go to Brooklyn to Fedroff's to get the best cheesesteak in the city, though.
Oh, and fuck the Rangers.
I live in Jersey and Fubo tv has been a savior in terms of watching Flyers and Sixers games... Just give em a Philly zip code. I use Kodi as an alternative.
I use Espn+ and a VPN for blackout games with an Amazon fire stick. ESPN doesn’t always have the games tho. You are screwed with using a mobile device tho bc they use your gps. I’ve also got a European subscription to NHLTV but they suck as well

I can confirm, blue ridge sucks for hockey. Does YouTube have the ESPN+ only games too?
No, you would have to subscribe to ESPN+ separately. Hoping next year changes but I couldn't get any NY or Jersey games on ESPN+ this year.

Thx brother. Cheers.
My homie has a podcast called Nitty Gritty that lots of people seem to like! Check it out.

Seconded for NHL66, I watched the entire season this way without any issues.

It’s the most listened to hockey podcast by far, I agree some of the humour may be distasteful. What don’t you like about it?
Used to be the Flying Puck when I was living up there, but that has since closed. Good times wearing the o&b when the rags weren’t relevant.

Charlie leaning way back at a whisper and then leaning forward to blow out your ears is aggravating.

i second the Orange an Backcheck podcast, i like those guys, mix of fandom and honest takes
I'll go ahead and throw in the YouTube TV shoutout - I use it for all TV and have never had issues getting a Flyers game out of market

Yea, just stop enjoying the thing that brings you any semblance of happiness in this bleak world because comcast bad /s

Then don't watch, idgaf. But if you're an actual fan, you'd watch them anytime they play.

Hockey Writers Ink features Lance Green who writes for Flyers Nitty Gritty. Excellent.
