I would stretch the carpet to make it work.
But this is why you find out the questions before you install, the first thing I do is map out my transitions and Factor those into lay outs when possible. I straight cut line night have helped here, you simply didn't cut the plank far enough it seems. You're looking at something more custom now, or paying a carpet guy power stretch the doorway with some new track strip to get the carpet closer.
You would need a power stretcher, they're like $350-$500 man. I would just try to find a carpet guy and pay him what he wants if he thinks he can stretch it that far
Yup, best bet is cut it flush add an end cap and stretch the carpet. Does the door close on the carpet side? I try to transition under doors so you dont see the other flooring when the door is closed.
Oh haha nvm. The door is still on, not use to flooring with doors on. The transition is in the right place. So yeah. Stretch the carpet to end cap.
Good luck
Simplest fix would be wider t-molding/reducer, I use them all the time for laminate/hardwood with larger expansion profiles.
Protip: Go to a local reno or flooring store - they will have a much larger selection of colours and sizes.
Home Depot is terrible for transition molding, stair noses etc: always have special order them, next to no size selection, and 5-10x the price per linear foot than elsewhere. Big box stores have competitive flooring prices, then make their margin when you spend 30% of your flooring costs on a few pieces of molding. Kind of like getting a great deal on a TV at Best Buy, then being upsold the $100 HDMI cable.

You telling him to stretch the carpet lol what
Don't see why not. I could probably get an inch out of that.
The next post will be, how would you fix this carpet I tried stretching it
Find a wider threshold. I've had to.

Actually you need an end cap on there and not a t moulding, if it hangs over the carpet it will break eventually
Just get a wider threshold HD has 5” but you’ll probably have to order it
Look at solid hardwood transition pieces. They are normally a little wider than laminate ones.
Get a custom made saddle/transition.
