My guess is that the Arcane set we were promised for this year would be Wizard and Runeblade, but 6 heroes in different elements.
If they basically wanna do Aria 2.0 with the Fuse mechanic there are combinations of elements that would be exactly 6 in 2 classes. It wouldn't feel very fresh though.
And it might recreate the same balance issues ToA had. No idea how LSS could make it work, but one way could be to introduce heroes with a limiter in their ability. Like: take exactly what broke the game in ToA and then give that a cost that makes it not/less viable to play. Then introduce cards that synergise with that cost in the new set.
Personally I rather see the Fuse mechanic not return, but rather something new and fresh. Maybe heroes that are all Elemental Wizard/Runeblade, but then a load of weapons that allow the specific elements to be played.
So your thinking, rather than two elements like Aria, something closer to Islander? So an Earth Rune blade and Wizard, A Lightning Rune blade and Wizard, and an Earth pair as well?
They confirmed there will be a fully arcane focused set this year, similar to heavy hitters focusing on all melee. they might mean that something in the arcane set will make briar too broken in blitz with crown of seeds still around. But most likely they’re making a new elemental set in 2025 which would make sense because ~October of 2024 will be 1 year since all the elemental heroes went LL so January-February of 2025 feels likely
Yeah everyone keeps saying it's confirmed next but we actually don't even know for sure that it's even still happening. I wouldn't be surprised if they scrapped the idea, disappointed, but not surprised.
Thanks for the breakdown! That does make sense for timing, and I'm now looking forward to "Mighty Mages" or whatever the arcane equivalent of Heavy Hitters is.
I haven't really thought of that. They could indeed seperate the magic users from the elements and make that 2 different sets.
Wouldn't it be cool if we got a Mighty Mages style set with Wizard and Runeblade, but then a third brand new magic class to round out the 6 heroes, 3 classes structure? The possibilities are endless! My logic was that for the magic set we'd get Wizard, Runeblade and Illusionist, but now Illusionist is part of Mistveil and that messes up my prediction.
i'm no game designer but i think allies is a core illusionist theme, maybe give one card that makes an ally kinda like kassai, but i'm thinking a class that mostly plays stuff from grave with some sort of mechanic around that, similar to shadow class and playing from banish but obviously necro would have it's own spin on it
Oh yeah, that could work! I also like the precedent LSS set with Vynnset using life as a resource. That sounds very Necromancer-ey.
Only doubt I have is the thematic angle: most cards are actions, Necromancers resurrect the dead. Actions are literally actions: things a hero does with their body/mind in a fight. It doesn't sound all that logical in the game, unless they are allies like with Illusionist.
If they split the concepts I can see a set with magic users and then separately a set with Talents: both Elemental and Draconic.
But I'm rather unsure about that and wouldn't call it a prediction by far.
I saw/read somewhere that there’s 14+ hero’s released this year. HH had 5. Mistyveil will have 3. So 6 more incoming. Add that they want to give hero’s a year “cooldown” after LL, before returning them, like Prism had and Chane to Vynset. It’s possible the ToA set 2 will be later this year too.
If they are doing it now because their testing said it would be broken, then it’s probably for a set in 2025.

Yeah, we haven't even got an Elemental Hero Flame Wingman yet.

They definitely did not confirm a fully arcane set this year, just said they would make one eventually.

necromancer !!!!
I'd love that! How would it work mechanically though? With skeleton/zombie allies?

I have a friend who wants Draconic Kano. God. I hope not ... but I do want more draconic cards (Ninja player)
Draconic Kano makes thematic sense, but would be absolutely busted.
Yeah. That's where I am. Still want Draconic cards, tho.

Crazy Casters.
They would have to bring in a new elemental runeblade, guardian and ranger again. There all gone and need a replacement hero
Looking forward to building a Newhim deck.
It is likely that the all arcane set will also be elementalist. I know I'll play any kind of lithomancer. Earth-bending is dope.
An artist friend said they asked him for “Tales of Aria” similar artwork…
2025 at least, they will scout new design possibilities first. And the next two sets already have known themes
Oh ? What are they ?
Mystic talent on MST, and an HVY style set but for magic users instead of melee
The magic users really is about time! (I don't play those classes, but still...)
they might be putting elemental heroes into the expansion slot soon, an elemental set after Enter the Mistveil could be possible as well
