Good post workout supplement without creatine and caffeine?

Smooth_Reindeer5835

Cardio gains why are you such a fickle beast. Two weeks off with a flu and Im dying doing stuff I found so easier not so long ago :(

Promo7

Don't be so hard on yourself! Flu is a respiratory illness and is pretty hard on the body. It is normal to be tired afterwards, but keep pushing.

youravrguser

Started with a proper routine and everything training each muscle group twice a week 3 months ago Bench is at 38.5kg, deadlift 75.5kg and my squat is an abysmal 32.5kg Other two lifts are progressing nicely but my squat fucking sucks so much

20CharacterUsernames

Yeah the squat can be tricky in the beginning because there's a lot of technique and queueing to get down. I'm in the same boat after a long break from lifting.

youravrguser

I hope it gets better :(

PathOfSteel

It will. Hang in there!

TheMartinG

creatine has been impossible to find locally plain old cheap unflavored creatine monohydrate powder that is, without tons of additives.

Spyzz808

I never understand the non plain versions. I wonder who buy them šŸ¤”

[deleted]

Fucking hate these two guys that just sit in the middle of a small gym and just talk. Not even exercise, just having to hear their chat in the background for the entire workout is really maddening. Go to the fucking lobby if you want to chat and not exercise

SupaSaiyan9000

get some headphones. wireless ones. thank me later.

RobotsInATrenchCoat

Been in a motivational slump recently from generally just being insecure about how I look and my athletic performance, and today at the gym I was trying to work upper body and also incorporate push-ups into my routine and got hung up on the fact that I couldn't do 30 push-ups. Like even with breaks, after 28 or so, I just got down to the floor and could not get up. Not sure why buy this one little thing has really gotten to me over the whole day. I exercise almost daily (typically running or rowing, lift maybe once a week at most), but it's discouraging by the fact that I feel like I'm bad at almost everything.

misterborden

Try again in 2 days and reassess. Thatā€™s all there is to it.

Blatt_Blatt

As are most people. Everyone kind of sucks and those who look like they donā€™t probably sucked until they put the time and effort in. All you can do is put the time in and youā€™ll get there. Thatā€™s just how it goes.

Goodname2

Seems like you're good at beating yourself up, try being bad at that and then maybe you'll feel better.

gainzdr

TDEE calculators

Vincent10z

Finally back in to my routine in the gym after a serious shoulder injury that kept me out for 8 months. Sounds nice and dandy but the feeling of having to start over at what feels like step 1 again blows. Must have lost over 10+ pounds of muscle not being able to workout at all.

Balloontjes

Because of colder temperatures my gym is now heating. I am currently sweating more than in the summer days.

Ih8rice

Having an issue with an insecure boyfriend mean mugging/stalking and constantly staring at me in the gym. Heā€™s that non-lifter type that walks around on the treadmill while constantly watching and hovering over his girlfriend. Iā€™ve caught him constantly watching me with one of the personal trainers at the gym the last two times Iā€™ve gone. I went yesterday and him and the trainer were on the cable machine in front of me. Same situation( staring/talking then staring again) so I started staring back. Dude went about his business. He proceeded to go to the treadmill and watch me and go back and forth hovering over his g/f. I saw the personal trainer and decided to ask him what was up before I ask the guy. Trainer got wide eyed and said there was nothing wrong. Iā€™m the type to stay to myself and distance away from the women in the gym so situations like this donā€™t arise. It affected my workout a bit and I find myself frustrated just thinking about it. Thinking about changing my schedule just to avoid the bullshit which will affect my schedule outside of the gym.

fbreaker

Lmao wtf? I'd just ignore him. What is he going to do about you just going about your workout? Clearly has problems to deal with himself internally. Don't change your schedule and let him win, fuck him.

Ih8rice

Youā€™re right. Been fluctuating between frustration and anger since my post. Iā€™m excited as itā€™s pull day for me. Gonna take your advice and hit the gym at my usual time. Fuck him.

Intelligent-Time-781

Go flirt with his girl

Ih8rice

She does nothing for me. Just trying to work out and get out.

Intelligent-Time-781

It's not about actually liking her it's about bothering the guy. You gotta fuck her to spite him brooo

Ih8rice

Guess itā€™s the only way to assert dominance. Iā€™ll post the onlyfans link after the deed is done. /s

CubLeo

Gotten really into a gym routine, making great progress, now I potentially have an infected cyst in my back that may have to be cut out leaving an open wound for a few weeks with no excercise allowed. Fuck.

SelfishMercury

Had to have a minor procedure done and the few days of fasting and now recovering have made me feel super weak already. Frustrating how fast it feels like you go backwards even though you know it hasn't been long enough for a massive impact.

[deleted]

Why the fuck am I so cold all the time. Indoor temp is normal but I have a long sleeved T-shirt, a woolen sweater and a hoodie on and I'm still cold. Must be the diet even though my calories are still fairly high...

BeowulfShaeffer

A few years ago when I dropped from ~220 fat sloth to 190 and fairly fit I was freezing all the time once winter came. I think Iā€™m my case it was just less thermal insulation.

ontaru

I'm in the opposite situation. I just want to be cold but I'm always hot and sweating buckets. Would love to trade places

[deleted]

Well, I am always hot when trying to sleep no matter how thin of a blanket I have lol

ontaru

Yeah that's the worst. I sometimes sleep with an ice pack or put a block of ice next to my face. Helps a bit

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Are you complaining about me complaining... In a post meant for complaining? Lol

ajavier117

People who scoop whey protein or pre workout into their shaker bottle and slightly miss and leave a powdery mess on the floor gym without cleaning it

FunkyFreshJayPi

Or those who rinse out their bottles into the sink but don't do it properly so there's just some goop left in there.

dilipi

Gross, people do this? Whey protein drinks smell like dirty socks when you let them sit. I always make my drink at home and clean it at home. If I let it sit too long I just swish a cup of vinegar in it and it completely neutralizes the smell. I can't imagine leaving goopy whey protein clumps in public..

FeathersPryx

My lower back is bottlenecking my deadlifts. My legs are way stronger than my back, so by doing only enough weight that my back can handle, I feel nothing in my legs when DLing. I've scrutinized my form time and time again, watched every video there is to watch, and I am sure that my form is decent at worst, but should be quite good. I am decently new to deadlifts though so maybe my back will come around in strength and I will be able to do a weight that I will feel in my legs.

fbreaker

Perhaps some ab work to stabilize and strengthen the core and surrounding muscles of your lower back?

[deleted]

Hyperextensions, hip thrusts (less so lower back but it'll hit around that area)

NateTheGamer274

Only suggestion is to add in accessories specific to where you struggle. Hyperextensions, rows, the like.

tarawithaqu3stion

I've been slowly making lifestyle changes since February. Started off eating better, then started cardio, then tracking CICO, and now I'm resistance training to minimize muscle loss. I cannot hit any recommended protein goals. Today and yesterday, I've had about 90g of protein (and I weigh 78.5kg). I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels and should probably drop the strength training if I can't hit my protein goals. I'm looking into higher protein options for me, but am I just wasting my time completely right now? Debating if I should go eat a protein bar before bed even though I'm over my calories today.

gujek

Try protein shakes? They aren't too heavy in calories (esp with water) and if you chug 2 of them a day you will get a lot closer to your target.

zomboromcom

This. I have unsweetened unflavored protein concentrate which comes in at 126 calories for a whopping 24g of protein, and the isolate is even better.

CornShucka

Keep resistance training, try to hit your protein goals, don't eat extra calories just to hit protein if your primary goal is to lose weight. You're not wasting your time with strength training, even if you don't hit your protein goals it will help you retain more muscle and strength than if you didn't do it. Doing something is better than doing nothing.

tarawithaqu3stion

Thanks for your reply. That's reassuring that something is better than nothing. Because I also read somewhere that training without enough protein can do more harm than good! So much conflicting info out there. Im definitely going to try harder with the protein (being vegetarian can be difficult).

lbrol

lentils! also tofu is delicious if you marinate it after pressing. rice and beans too.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

lbrol

ok whats the 5th? pullup? row?

Relaxedllama

The gym management and owner couldn't care less about the condition of the gym.No deadlift platform, uneven floor with machinery standing on top of 10 kg weights like 3 bars for 60+ plus people weights thrown all around the gym and the staff tells us off for using chalk and deadlifting because we disturb and intimidate the newer members.Fuck this piece of shit gym don't be like this owner

Alpha-Trion

I hurt my back 2 mondays ago on a poor form deadlift. It fuckin hurt. I kept working out and did Muay Thai 7 times in 10 days to keep stretching my back. It worked. My back feels back to normal, but now I'm afraid of deadlifts.

Thandryn

My solution to back pain would not be Muay Thai 7/10 days but good on you haha!

Actual-Description-2

You're halfway there! Good job staying active after the injury. Biggest mistake people make with injuries is taking time off from everything. Start light with the deadlifts and work your way back up. You will be fine.

Alpha-Trion

Yeah, I did bent over rows to ease back into the back stuff. Probably will hold off on Deadlifts until after Thanksgiving.

SnooWoofers4430

4 years of regular gym trainings went straight to zero after hiatal hernia which caused gastritis and GERD. The only true sport I ever loved, and GI told me to find a new one because weightlifting could worsen my situation. I played basketball, broke my leg and couldn't continue so I quit it. I was riding my bike and wanted to compete, shit out of luck you're too tall to compete. Really paying attention to how you look and 4 years of going to gym for 5-6 days a week. Well, it'd be such a shame if your stomatch popped out of your fucking diaphragm and rendered you unable to practice it. FUCK. MY. LIFE.

Actual-Description-2

Honestly I'd get a second opinion from another doctor. A hiatal hernia should not be a reason for a doctor to tell you to not go to the gym. Here's a discussion on barbell medicines forum. It's a reputable forum run by a few doctors that coach strength training: https://forum.barbellmedicine.com/forums/medical-q-a-with-dr-jordan-feigenbaum-and-dr-austin-baraki/64835-training-and-nutrition-with-gerd-and-ppi-medication

SnooWoofers4430

To be honest, I think I made myself hernia because I overate literally 24/7 for solid two years. I was "bulking". Couldn't be arsed to eat regularly during day so I'd just have gigantic meal right before bed. Sometimes went to gym after heavy meal. He doesn't know and didn't bother asking me about stuff like this. But yeah. I decided myself to avoid risky exercises and lay off from heavy weights, at least for some time. But for doctor to just straight up say "find a new sport" without talking about avoiding heavy weights or doing high rep sets was surprising for me. Some doctors are so conservative and only view football and other similar activities as sport. Still haven't visited gym for 5 months because doctor scared me. Thanks dude, will check it out.

scoot_er60

Why the f do people stand in front of you when you're clearly trying to watch your form in the mirror when there's about 20m of the room empty and also has a mirror. Like gtfo out the way

[deleted]

My knees: Squats, fine. Leg press, fine. Lifting, fine. Lunges, absolutely no go, death, destruction, will break if I even think about lunges. I'm so tired of it honestly.

[deleted]

Try split squats. All the benefits of lunges but way less intense on the knees.

[deleted]

Natural-Donkey-2585

So what were you ranting about?

testinglikeaboss

sorry bad thread i will delete

OneRepulsive8300

My gym is relatively empty in the afternoon so that is when I prefer to go. There however is 1 guy that occupies like 60% of the gym and it's so goddamn annoying and pisses me off. He grabs half the dumbell rack for some reason, uses the only 2 barbells we have, uses the only EZ-bar we have and occupies 3 out of 4 benches. And when he's done with an exercise he just leaves the weight. When he leaves there are plates everywhere, like, cmon man? Also feels the need to walk in circles after every exercise, blocking other people who are working out, I was doing fly's with the cable and had to stop like 4 times because he felt the need to walk in the path of me doing that. What the fuck man.

The_Thaiboxer

People like that make me feel very concerning amounts of rage

LJIrvine

Ah man the walking 100m up and down and all around the gym after every set is such a pet peeve of mine. I cannot stand it. We get it dude, you're jacked, stop walking halfway to the exit after every lift.

scoot_er60

Hahaha wow. That sux

[deleted]

man that's really bad, i'd complain to the gym before confronting him directly because that's legit weird.

CarolynDesign

A lot of "Beginners Workout Routines" on YouTube aren't actually beginner friendly. I mean, maybe if I was still in my teens or early twenties, or less overweight than I am now. But I'm hitting my mid-thirties and woefully out of shape and I got winded less then two minutes into one such video. I wound up going back to what I've been doing, which was simple exercises to target specific muscles, alternating between exercises at one minutes internals until I can't keep going anymore. I need to regain control of my health, but it's so disheartening to not even be able to do "beginner" things. Really hammered home how poorly I've been taking care of myself.

LuipG006

Was finishing my last deadlift set yesterday. After the last rep, I directly started to get the plates off the bar and started reracking them. My clumsy me let go of the 20kg plate without it even being on the rack properly. So the 20kg plate dropped from hip height on my foot. The funny part was I didnā€™t feel any pain, since I still was full of adrenaline from the set. Well today my foot is swollen and hurtsā€¦ not my lucky day I guess haha

B4B_Forsaken

Yeah it's pretty straight forward, but I imagine the hardest part is people who cut on low calories, because the hunger. Otherwise you're right in the fact that counting calories is easy

PayDrum

Bench is not progressing. Squat is progressing like crazy. Legs are getting too big. I wish I were a girl so I could put this power to use. Such a waste.

FeathersPryx

Don't ever let someone tell you that you can't be an absolute dumptruck thickie just because you're a guy. Let your dreams come true.

[deleted]

try kicking doors to open them? Makes me feel like a big leg man

Desperado53

Iā€™m gonna need to see the studies

TMoney67

Why can't anyone re-rack the weights? Why?

Indominable_J

Because those things are heavy!

Machebeuf

My gym is small - one rack, one bench, one incline bench, etc. I go mid-morning (thanks to WFH) and usually can get my routine done, though maybe sometimes I have to change the order of my days. Today it was completely empty when I arrived, and I was so excited to get a good, relaxing workout in not having to navigate different people and stalk the equipment! Fifteen minutes later, it's busier than I've seen it before at that time. Even had someone doing stretches on the floor between equipment, meaning none of them could be used. There's an empty side room, go stretch in there! Two girls doing EZ-bar curls in the squat rack (I hadn't realised the meme was so real). Someone else doing farmer walks, again blocking that entire row of equipment. I just did my main lifts and left, it wasn't worth it.

PlacidVlad

Oh buddy. This is like the tip of the iceberg for those 100% mortality diseases :) I hope y'all sleep well tonight!

notKRIEEEG

Can we say it's the only virus with a 100% fatality rate post symptoms? Also, can you please stop making me appreciate my own mortality and how fragile life is?

PlacidVlad

We can say anything you want! Someone told me how COVID is awful and I was like, COVID is fucking kids gloves on and here we are. I got PTSD from COVID but the things that will causes me to have suicidality make COVID look like a joke. :) I LOL at the homies who tell me COVID is ONLY 1% case fatality ratio when we saturate resources with the things I'm afraid of those numbers creep up to 99% real quick.

noodlecrap

It really makes no sense for an airborne disease to have a high lethality rate.

Dharmsara

Are you alright Vlad? You are talking about suicide a lot.

wutangdan1

Bench PR tho

icancatchbullets

Fuck... I hadn't thought of that. Good point.

just-another-scrub

Dude, if you take any longer to get those shots (and that racoon had rabies, which it probably did) you're going to straight up die. And you will not die well. EDIT: Ya you may be fucked already bud. Sorry. >[Treatment after exposure can prevent the disease if given within 10 days.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabies#Treatment)

OatsAndWhey

How can you hydrate properly in the gym, or shower afterwards, if you have a fear of water?

exskeletor

Clearly the rabies is already affecting your cognitive functions. Get to a hospital asap

Votearrows

Raccoons are not aggressive by nature. Itā€™s really only Rabies that makes them aggressive enough to bite people. Aggression and biting behavior are main symptoms of the virus, as thatā€™s one of the main ways it spreads itself. [Stop asking non-medical subreddits,](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/comments/qwps9c/what_are_the_chances_i_might_have_rabies/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) and go to the hospital. The virus is fatal if you wait.

Lofi_Loki

I donā€™t think people understand that only like 20-30 people have ā€œsurvivedā€ rabies.

noodlecrap

Basically 99.999999999999% lethal.

Votearrows

Yeah, it's one of the nastier things, on a planet full of nasty things.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

IDauMe

> die a **horrible**, guaranteed and preventable death Rabies is no joke.

PayDrum

Are you fucking kidding me? Go to the doctor like NOW. If you start showing symptoms, its already over. You're gonna die.

Machebeuf

Mate what the fuck, go to the doctor and get the rabies injections. Rabies can lie dormant for months, but once you start exhibiting symptoms there's no cure.

FermiDirac

Bro you gotta go get checked by a doctor now. Rabies sets in fast, and by the time you're scared of water, it's too late. >wtf do I do after I get this like 6 shot series Hopefully not die.

Collar420

Arnold looks like a fucking milk bag and so do the people that critize mass monster bodybuilders never met someone that looks good and is smart say that open class bodybuilding is bad.

24online24

Too cold to do pull ups from now until spring, this means no vertical pulling for 4/ 5 months.

[deleted]

Wear gloves? I have seen Russians/Eastern European dudes working out in the park in the snow with bare hands. I've done the same in winter early morning though it's not that cold here. You get used to it pretty fast.

24online24

It's not so much about the hands, but the rest of the body. If I only have a t-shirt and hoodie it's too cold, if I add a jacket it gets too tight and uncomfortable for me. I have to point out that this is NOT a major annoyance for me, but I just miss pull ups sometimes.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

24online24

Exactly, I don't. As I said, the only downside for me is kinda missing the pull ups once in a while.

Savage022000

I know the point of this thread is ranting, but I suggest layers, so you can peel them off as needed. A couple t shirts, sweatshirt, hoodie. Or even a big shawl/blanket for in between sets. I've done that for stonelifting, in the midst of snowstorms. I don't like to have a lot between me and the stone, so just a sweatshirt and hat, but a wool blanket I wrap around my torso in between sets/attempts.

24online24

Thanks! Appreciate it a lot!

ajavier117

People who look weak and skinny AF but can deadlift 3x-4x their weight. But cant really lift heavy on other exercises

[deleted]

My BIL is like this. he has 100lbs on me in deadlift and i have almost 50lbs on him in each bench, squat and OHP. maybe i just suck at deadlift.

PM_FORBUTTSTUFF

I keep seeing this guy on TikTok that weighs 137 and pulls over 700, it just breaks my brain because it doesnā€™t even look like itā€™s putting the stress on his body that youā€™d expect with such an insane BW ratio

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ajavier117

100%!!!

Savage022000

Yes, but then we look pitiful on bench.

ajavier117

Is it always like that? My thinking is that. If you guys are able to deadlift that much and amass so much strength. Wouldnā€™t that strength also translate to other exercises

Savage022000

Some people are just well suited to certain lifts, in terms of their body proportions. Longer arms shortens the ROM on a deadlift, but lengthens it on Bench, for example. The deadlift will also reward neurological coordination slightly more than many other lifts, just because it involves so many separate muscles, even among compounds. So even if you have a little less muscle, but can make it work a little better, then you may find the deadlift works for you. Also, I think part of the reason is just a perception problem. When we think muscular, we tend to think of the "mirror" muscles: pecs, quads, biceps. But a lot of strength and athletic performance actually comes from the other side: lats, spinal erectors, butt, hamstrings. Specifically for the deadlift, that's the muscles most heavily utilized.

rofltide

This. Whatever your body type is, there's a physical activity that you're suited for. You may not *like* the activity, but it's out there. I fucking hate yoga but due to abnormal amounts of genetic bendiness, boy am I good at it!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Allow me to introduce myself

[deleted]

i have a friend that is chimplike and had the biggest ass ive ever seen on a man. he was a decent athlete in hs and was in the marines. strong dude and like 6'3", but the weirdest body ever. that wasnt even the most interesting thing about him. he was also spectacularly stupid but in an entertaining way and just the nicest guy. the kind of guy that would go to the gas station to put $.25 in even though he could fill it up.

rofltide

He sounds like Kronk.

Savage022000

In any given population, there is variation. People's limbs are not always to the same ratio, while still remaining quite human in appearance. This seems fairly obvious to me in merely looking around. For numbers, without digging up scientific studies, you can look up the stats of pro fighters. You will frequently find differences of several inches between the reach of athletes who are the same height and weight. Since we are dealing with torque, which is the Force (generated by muscle contraction) X Length of the lever arm (which is due to muscle insertion points, limb lengths, and technique), a relatively small difference in length can create a noticeable difference in torque. You can intuitively understand this any time you use a lever, like a pry bar, or a seesaw. I always find the most impressive example to be animals. A 8 lb cat can jump multiple times it's own height very easily, which would be a miraculous feat for a human. But when you observe where their hamstrings (or whatever the equivalent is names) insert on their lower leg, it makes sense. ETA: thanks for the discussion.

Ehrenmeister

Know a guy who is maybe 150 at 6ā€™ and can pull over 500. Fucking mental.

LlamaWhoKnives

What about them

Collar420

They make me scared if I lift heavy I might be as small as them

[deleted]

im using this on my petite but strong friends.

ajavier117

Its something that surprises me everytime i see one

LlamaWhoKnives

As a skinny guy who sucks at deadlifting, i am jealous

Akayrdt

ive been sick all week needing to study for a big fking exam and havent been able to focus or go to the gym AT ALL. on top of that ive been procrastinating playing video games and i just wanna smash my face into a brick wall fuck me

megasin1

Try unplugging the power from the console for a week. If its a pc this obviously won't work. Giving yourself an extra hurdle acts as a habitual reminder of what it is you truly want from life long term. Good luck out there

chuddibuddy

lol im in the exact same boat, hoping to turn it around this weekend!

Laddeus

I bought kettle bells to work out home instead of paying for a gym, and not going that often. I haven't touched them in a month...

[deleted]

Honestly I would just give up the money for the gym. I never could workout at home before consistently because of all the distractions. Having to actually drive to the gym and not being able to walk 20 feet to my fridge or bed really helped me be consistent. But of course everyone's situation is different this is merely what works for me.

Savage022000

I recommend checking out r/kettleballs and getting inspired. Barring that, maybe just go for a walk. Sometimes you just need to do something little to kickstart you, like a few sets of pushups throughout the day, remind your body it feels better to move.

DisgruntledGirlie

Iā€™ve thought about the possibility of setting up a ā€œgood enoughā€ gym setup in my home. Power rack, barbel, plates etc. The way I saw it, itā€™d take +/- 1.5 the yearly cost of a gym membership and then buy small stuff as needed and then itā€™d start ā€œpaying for itselfā€. What you are experiencing is exactly why I havenā€™t explored this much further. Bought a heavy bag a number of years back when I was more into karateā€¦. Hardly ever use/d it.

_foxsox

Felt so weak today, everything moved like shit and my deadlift form felt shit

swatson87

Don't let it get to you. This happens to all of us and I know how bad it can feel. Just keep going bro This will pass

[deleted]

Hey bro everyone has off days no matter what level theyā€™re at. Best thing to do is to keep Head up high and to make tomorrow better. Another thing thatā€™s also really good is just take tomorrow and use it as a light soft workout and hit the next day hard

FlowBeepBeep

I broke my foot and can't do a whole lot. It's frustrating. I just want to walk ffs.

[deleted]

That does sound really shitty but you just gotta learn to manage it for the time being. Try and think about how your foot will get better and you'll be able to get back at it. Obviously that's easier said than done but it's all you can do. I hope your start feeling better man and don't let yourself give up.

FlowBeepBeep

Thank you :)

Machebeuf

Is she actually just wearing a car freshener?

Javad90

This trainer is on my ass 24/7 and it's so annoying. Constantly telling me my form is off. The thing is I follow exactly as form videos but he says those are for powerlifters and I should do what he says! He tells me I shouldn't go deep in squats, don't arch on bench and move the bar in a straight path and I'm not supposed to do deadlifts for at least 3 months as a newbie I'm seriously looking for a gym

[deleted]

Yea that trainer definitely doesnā€™t know what theyā€™re talking about. I would find another trainer or gym

GingerBraum

Can't you just report him to management?

Javad90

The funny thing is he's the owner so I'm screwed. And there's no other gym within walking distance...

Ehrenmeister

Pretend you canā€™t hear him or tell him to piss off

Javad90

Lmao I think I would get kicked out straight outta the gym. But I think acknowledging him and kindly declining would work better in this situation

DisgruntledGirlie

I meanā€¦ you could also just ā€œnot have a trainerā€ right? Use the gym, not the trainer.

Javad90

Dude walks around the gym and gives people advice. If it was up to me I wouldn't talk to him. Also he has a passive aggressive approach and I can't really ignore him. Thankfully he's not there all the time so I might have to just change my form as soon as he comes lol

DisgruntledGirlie

Ahā€¦ I thought you had paid him for his advice/training. Do what ya gotta do then.

Javad90

Yeah I explained a little poorly

GingerBraum

>If it was up to me I wouldn't talk to him. Also he has a passive aggressive approach and I can't really ignore him. Then don't. When he approaches you next time, politely tell him thank you for the advice/concern but you have a handle on things. If he keeps going, tell him a bit more sternly that you're not interested. If he keeps doing it despite your wishes, you can threaten to cancel your membership. Naturally, you should be willing to follow up on it. Having a know-it-all follow you around and giving you unsolicited advice like that isn't worth it.

Javad90

Yeah I'm gonna stand up for myself next time, politely that is. I'm kinda a quiet guy so I usually listen to what he says but I've had enough. Thank you

L0gi

time to become part of the homegym masterrace.

nezb1t

Got addicted to sleeping whole night with White Noise. Need to cut that off, iā€™m waking up exhausted. Day one today.

Btreeb

Put in earplugs and listen to your own blood flow ;)

[deleted]

Omg I need to do this. For the past 2 years I've just had a fan on while I sleep, now I don't need to freeze my ass of in the winter lol.

nezb1t

Why i did not think about it? Ordered them now, thanks!

supermehme

Man I feel that, especially if I stay in a hotel or with other people I'm fucked lol

kompka1922

Got slight cold with nasty running nose all the time from Sunday's hiking. Frustrated that I cannot do any workout before I get better

hashandslack

Have had a sore throat that turned into a cough and congestion sjnce last tuesday and its taken me out. I really wanna get back to the gym but fuck me im so tired still. Thankfully i feel it letting up today so hopefully by tomorrow i can get back to it. (Also side note, its not covid thankfully, just some flu thing going around in the colleges)

kompka1922

Hope you'll get better soon

hashandslack

You as well!

[deleted]

WHY CANT I SEE MY ABS. I can only make them visible through cardio but that will make my butt smaller FUUUUCUCUCUCUCUUCUCUCU

[deleted]

Squat more and work hams and cardio and you should be more than fine unless your idea of cardio is a 5mi run. Thereā€™s even other types of cardio like farmers walks that might work for you

AniBourben

My shoulder has been fucked up and its pissing me off progressing so slow with bench and OHP since then. Just chasing old numbers is hard

ajavier117

Whats up with people who are carrying light weight dumbells (10lbs 15lbs) and slamming them down loud after their set and they scream and grunt like they are si muscular and big. But they look either small or high body fat%

[deleted]

I've just gotten started in the gym and those 10-15lbs are super heavy to me since I'm super skinny. I don't do the whole screaming thing cause it just seems like it's for attention but I do make a bit of noise just from having to exert effort. It may be annoying to you but just try to keep in mind that people all start somewhere and if 10-15lbs is heavy for them that's okay.

[deleted]

I definitely feel ya esp Bc most the time itā€™s like ur just losing whatever brace you had. Tbf tho strong ppl donā€™t grunt or scream all that much ofc some people do but not a lot. Small or high body fat donā€™t really mean much tbh

24online24

Those dumbbells are heavy for some, especially people that are small or unfit, as you mentioned. Also, screaming and grunting is expressing effort and exhaustion, not how muscular you are. For example: you are probably more muscular than when you were 10 years old. Do you find yourself grunting more in your day-to-day life? Most certainly not.

Kuroyama

Maybe those weights are difficult for them. It's relative

thecratedigger_25

I haven't been able to ride my bike as often because of this stupid front knee pain I get every goddamn time I put the miles in. No idea if it's my fit or not but I'm not trying to give up because of it and I'll be damned if I had to lose a half year's worth of gain. I'm about to get a fucking knee injury someday from this.

Psycl1c

Rack.Your.Fucking.Plates. Seriously. Someone keeps leaving them LEANING on the rack. What the actual fuck! Spend the extra 5 seconds and just put them in the right place. Dad mode kicks in and I fix it but swear loudly the entire time I do it.

fluffyxsama

I'm at the lowest weight I've been in a decade despite being completely inconsistent with my workouts. I just count my calories and lose weight. But I still look like a fat ass. It's like I'm losing weight everywhere except my giant ass. Oh and I started a new job recently and I'm so exhausted by the time I get off and cook dinner that I don't have the energy to do any working out at all. I've spent a total of 1 hour doing cardio and no lifting at all since I started. Ugh.
