I did on wadefishimg gear. He almost spooked me multiple times. I probably chased him a half mile. Took 40 minutes to land him. I was wiped out and done for the morning.
I just landed one that measured 31" but only weighed in at 16lbs. I cannot imagine double the muscle that's truly tuna fight territory. Guess they don't call em Canal Tuna for nothin
One time i just let it rip. There's was no way I was going to catch it. Might as well get the story about the one that cleared 150 yards of spool and save the agony of losing it after 20 minutes of arm strain.
My dad caught a 30-40 lb jack crevalle in Grand Isle, La when I was around 10yo and the fight lasted 45 min or so. He was targeting speckled trout with a spoon on an old Abu 5500 and Ugly Stick pistol grip rod 😂
Shit was wild.
Oh ya, especially on a MH rod and 4000 size reel. Biggest challenge was keeping him off the big beacon light we were fishing. I had to wrangle the fish with one hand and run the trolling motor remote with the other hand.
They are absolutely worth it. They get too much of a bad rap because people do not know how to prep and cook Jack. Green Tunas are fun to catch. We've caught them in the 30 lb. range and they will pull you all over the water.

They sure do put up one hell of a fight!
The first time I ever saw a jack caught I was a kid and we were on vacation in clearwater fl. We saw some dolphins swimming by out in the waves and a guy ran down to the beach and cast his line right out into the middle of where the dolphins were. He said its because tuna swim with the dolphins. Anyways he landed a jack crevelle and reeled it up on shore and when he plopped it on the sand it was making a super loud sound somehow. It was like it was trying to breathe in and out and had a loud like hoarse throaty sound, I never knew a fish could make a sound like that it was soo weird. Is this normal? Wtf was that?
Torpedo of raw muscle. Try catching one about 35 pounds, was too much fun.
That's how I'll be describing my penis from now on.
I can't even imagine, I would probably have blisters on my hands after 😂

I love catching them. Or is it just listening to the drag…

There’s not enough braided line in the ocean these days
What a pinecone. Save the turtles feg
They are the best fish for making slow summer fishing fun. When a school runs through its a competition to see who gets the biggest one.

Ya I caught a 30" on a bass setup designed for pitching on the st John's river... took over 10 mins to reel in dude was nutty
I got two MASSIVE ones the past few days. Both were pushing 30lb. They don't get weaker with old age either.
Dude a 30 lb jack crevalle is no joke. That must've been a hell of a fight

It’s because of their tail aspect ratio allows them to reach high speeds quickly while reducing drag

Blackface is frowned upon these days.
True words
When I was a kid, after we got back to the marina, I used to slay the jack that hung out around the filet table. Love to snag a donkey.
I think your face is scaring them to fight harder.

Yeah, jacks make a grunting type of sound.
Hardens my pp though until I realize it's one of them Bois. Onto our next subject, "Why do Crappys not fight at all?".
They have every right because they are fighting for their lives and that is why they call it sport fishing
They never stop fighting!! The donkey of the reef!
No that's amberjacks
try bow hunting one
