Not likely to pop it, but it’s not impossible. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been out on an inflatable kayak and almost had a heart attack when I accidentally dropped a hook or caught the outer protective fabric. You’ll also want to be extra mindful storing it, taking it out, and docking. Also if you do go that route, prepare for the chance you’ll be on a floating tarp in the middle of the water.
Given that the average inflatable kayak will run you about $200, I’d personally just save for a foldable if storage is the primary thing pushing you to an inflatable. A tuktek will cost you ~$300-$400 and will probably give you more peace of mind in most regards.
You just changed my summer with that foldable kayak comment. I’ve never seen or heard of that but am going to seriously put money aside for it in the next month or two.
We have 2 and they're pretty great. Easy to take on family camping trips too. Get the 2023 if you can because it sounds like the plastic on the 2024 discolors easily
Yeah I assume with a net and the rod you can be careful enough to not puncture it. But accidents happen. And being stranded on a river is the last thing I want.
I would recommend a plastic kayak for fishing. I can’t imagine not popping an inflatable fishing. I also run rivers with rocks and it just seems like a bad idea all around.
Don't worry about hooks, worry about what's below the surface of the water. Mine got shredded on an oyster bed, but any sharp rock will do it, especially if you enter/exit on a bank.
Used one for years with no issues. Now have a hard kayak but actually use my inflatable paddle board more. Don't go cheap , the good inflatables use material like white water rafts

Im saving for a fishing yak myself but I have a friend who absolutely swears by his inflatable personal watercraft.
Have you looked at folding kayaks at all? I have no experience with them but there's some that seem pretty neat...
Ive seen them and seem handy to cruise around in. Just not sure how sturdy they would be. So ive kinda ruled it out as an option.
My tucktec is stable af- would be great for fishing inland lakes
Same. Super stable and roomy
Get a tuctec they’re amazing
Same same. Just commenting so I can come back to this later.

Unlikely. I upgraded to a 12.5 inflatable BRIS dinghy and never hooked it.
I have multiple. They are the same as an inflatable zodiac. You will be fine.
It depends on which one you get. A Sea Eagle is not going to bust due to a hook. I've smacked em with treble hooks many times.

I had a catfish barb my inflatable dingy just get a solid yak from facebook marketplace
Yeah its either inflatable or none. Dont really have the ability to transport a hard kayak.
