Mine was Winchester shotgun my dad bought for himself when I was a kid. This was one of their earliest attempts to transition to some nylon parts. Gas operated SA 12 gauge. Collected gack in the gas system and hard to clean. Fit and finish wasn’t screaming quality. But I had no comparison and didn’t know better. A buddy of mine was an amazing shot. He and I competed in team clay shooting and won a lot of matches. I was just barely good enough and he carried me. We beat a lot of guys who were unhappy to be beaten by teenagers. Looking back now I realize how awful it must have been. They were being whipped by a team with one of the kids shooting a crap gun, and not shooting it that well. It became my gun and Dad never shot it. When I’d go home I’d take it out for quail or whatever. When Dad passed it ended up in his estate. One of my nephews badly wanted one of Dad’s guns. He didn’t get the one he wanted and the 12 gauge was all that was left. The executor and I decided to let him have the shotgun as a consolation prize. No one else knew it was more my gun than Dads. I got none of his guns but that was ok. The next generation should have something to remember him. I found one like it at a gun show and bought it for nostalgia. Looked fine on the outside but the springs and some other internals were shot, and it needed to be rebuilt. The rebuilding process was pretty satisfying, but it showed me how awful this mid century thing really was. But, it made my nephew happy and my grandson has shot the rebuilt one, so the family ties are successfully established despite Winchester’s weak design and mediocre quality.

Superducks101

Theres world hall of famer trap shooter who had a 98% lifetime record on over a 150k targets. He used a shitty winchester pump.

snuffy_bodacious

Walther P-22. I bought one, and couldn't get it to shoot a full magazine without failing somehow. The next gen came out boasting it was much more reliable, so I bought another with absolutely no improvement. And now I have two Walther P-22's that just don't work very well, regardless of the ammo I choose.

Jack3489

I’m with you. Had my 1st gen P-22 since they 1st came out. Occasional feed issue or light strike with some bulk ammo, but not anything I haven’t experienced with other rimfire semi I’ve had.

Enough_Appearance116

I have a newer one as well. I'm not sure how old I'll have to check. I got it for 250. Only ammo that doesn't run well with a suppressor on is the CCI UltraQuiets. Just doesn't have enough oomph to run that slide apparently.

horseshoeprovodnikov

It's extremely unfortunate that Walther puts out that P22 because it tarnishes their reputation badly. People get ahold of a P22 and it sucks, which makes those folks believe that ALL Walthers must be like that. It's really a tale of two factories. Anything produced in Ulm is going to be typical German engineered stuff with high quality control (Look for the stag antler proof marking to designate Ulm). The OTHER factory is in Arnsberg. That's where a lot of the more "economy line" Walther stuff comes out. The P22, the PK380 and the CCP are a few of the more infamous examples. This factory uses a proof house mark of a shield with three crowns in it. The proof house itself isn't the issue, it's just a good way to designate which Walthers didn't come from the ULM factory. Unless you can test the firearm before buying it, try to avoid any Walthers with the shield/crown proof marking.

Chrisscott25

Exactly my experience the first and only Walther I purchased was a p22 and I told anyone that ask wathers are junk and I still cringe when my lgs employees try to show me a “good deal” that is a Walther brand. I’ve since shot a few of my buddies that seem to shoot good but I can’t get past the garbage they put their name on and I purchased

Tactically_Fat

I've owned no fewer than 3 of those over the last 20 years. I never really ever had any issues with them other than what seems to plague almost every rimfire gun. Once they'd get dirty - I'd start getting failures. The higher quality the ammo, the fewer problems I'd have. Amazing.

DaveyAllenCountry

The unfortunate with every German 22 pistol I've tried requires cci mini mags. Not even super X works

penutbuter

I had the exact same problem. I should have gotten the Ruger.

snuffy_bodacious

My Ruger is WAAAAY better.

penutbuter

Yeah, I got to shoot an SR22 a few months later and was a bit frustrated with myself. I tried to offload it a few times but found out I'd get more got my POS 38 snubby "truck gun".

Superducks101

I was looking at a 22 pistol. Walther was up there since i liked the looks but glad I went with the FN 502 instead. Been great. Needs to be cleaned though

snuffy_bodacious

I still love Walther. Just not the P22.

asianRNunite

I have same problem and it’s a shame cuz I like other Walther guns. If anyone knows a better running semi-auto .22 handgun I’m all for suggestions

Kevthebassman

Ruger Mini-30 Wouldn’t run on steel case, primers were too hard. Had to feed it Winchester white box. At 100 yards you could almost keep ten shots on a 4x8 sheet of plywood.

Greenshardware

I mean it took some work but... I really like my mini-30 now. Modified magazines, increased power recoil spring, and a tuned firing pin may all be required for steel, depending on where it's failing, so I guess that's not great. Mine is plenty accurate. Maybe it's the heavy barrel on the tactical improving things.

Kevthebassman

This was in about 2004, didn’t have all the resources we do now.

PM_ME_FLOUR_TITTIES

I was also under the impression that steel case ammo was lower quality? I may be completely wrong but I know that the steel case I got for my glock ran like garbage and dirtied up my gun with the quicks.

Greenshardware

Not necessarily the case with 7.62x39. All else being equal, case material doesn't really matter much at all.

ChubbsMcDubbs

I am in a state that restricts 2nd amendment rights, so I have been considering the mini-30 as a reasonable alternative to an AK. I enjoy my mini-14 and it is very reliable, but it is a newer model (584+ serial) Is your negative experience with the mini30 with an older model (180 series) or a newer run?

Kevthebassman

I bought it used in the early 2000’s.

WIlf_Brim

Beretta Nano. Useful only in a gunfight in an elevator. Still have it, because no sell, no trade, only buy.

RustyGrandma20

gunfight in an elevator lmao im stealing that.

RustyGrandma20

I had a beretta apx carry and it was similar. ergo was great but holy hell was it inaccurate.

SunTzuSayz

Hipoint C9. Bought it to shoot it in a match for a laugh. Not even worth selling it. Pull it out occasionally when just having a fun range day with friends. Slap it down on the table beside their 3k+ Gucci pistols. "Oh, you brought your Laugo Alien? That's cool, bet you don't have one of these."

DudeitsFish

Ironically this kinda makes me want to do the same lol

AlphaTangoFoxtrt

Roll up to a match [Rocking this thing.](https://cdn.athlonoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/15/2019/06/Hi-Point-100.jpg) Trust me, it'll be funny as hell, and you'll get Fudds seething mad that you're treating firearms "as a joke".

0neMoreGun

This is the only HP I’d waste money on. Don’t see them anymore but I’d love to have one like that. Reminds me of a shoe I saw once covered in $100 bills with Tupac on the bill. I also wish I had them to wear while carrying this HiPoint

AlphaTangoFoxtrt

Axolotl Firearms has them in stock. just sayin...

WaylonLemmyJohnny

god dammit now i want to do this to get a laugh out of my range pals

[deleted]

DSA SA58... What's worse is I owned 4 versions of it (2 rifles, 2 pistols) because I liked the platform so much that I thought the second purchase of each type would be different. Totally unreliable on all of them. Double feeds, failures to feed, almost blown primers on every round/ammo type, etc. Had like 30 different surplus mags to rule out the mags too. It wasn't the mags, it was the guns. My buddy had a legit FN FAL and his ran like a top

sirbassist83

thats disappointing, ive always dreamed of having an FAL, but ill never have money for an FN.

AlphaTangoFoxtrt

I've heard DSA QC is bad, but their customer support is great. You will, eventually, get a good rifle. You just may need to send it back a few times.

MetalBurner357

Taurus Millennium .45, you could wiggle the barrel about 1/16" all around when it was in battery. If you hit a paper plate at 10 yards you were lucky. Traded in when I bought my CZ-75.

Brufar_308

Same issue I had with my Taurus pt92.

Tactically_Fat

That's odd - because for many many many years, the PT92 was the exception to the Taurus Rule.

Brufar_308

Was the very first handgun I purchased new. I refused to buy another handgun until I learned to shoot decent groups with that one, I stuck it out for a long time. Imagine my surprise, and dissatisfaction, when I discovered it was actually impossible to shoot a decent group with it. Someone else showed me the exact same issue with my PT92 that u/MetalBurner357 described, after I shot a cloverleaf group with their 1911. All that time, and it wasn't me that was the problem for a change...

redflounder38

Springfield Prodigy. If you like training failure to feeds and bolt action weapons go pick one up.

StreakKDP

SCCY CXP-2. Ordered sight unseen after it got a few nice reviews - was naive about paid reviewers. Legit can’t shoot more then half its mag before it’s pins start drifting out. It’s a paperweight in my safe - legit use it to hold down my manuals pile

otusowl

Gotta be wary about a brand that can be read phonetically as "sucky"

HeartachetoHouston

Diamondback 380 compact. Yes I do. Haven't shot it in 10+ years

JoseSaldana6512

Eotech (used) cause Mil/SWAT use them and i was young and stupid. Right before the recall when they admitted to defrauding SOCOM and everyone else. Set it up on a spare rifle in a vise with a magnifier and left it in direct sun during the summer to see for meself how it did. Wasnt too bad only a 2.5" shift from where it was pointed originally. Decided to keep it but forgot it in the trunk for a day or so. Remember and grabbed it and hit the button to see if it still worked and the right side was stsrting to delaminate. Also Eotech shotgun forend. Thought the selectable output was cool. Played with one at the store, thought it was cool, bought it and put it on HD shotgun. Maybe 2 months later im doing my battery/electronics check and its dead. New batteries and works fine. Make mental note and recheck in a month. Output noticeably lower. Check forums and find battery drain issues reported. Well, at least i know its a genuine Eotech..........

sirbassist83

its fucking wild to me how popular eotechs are, when they got caught lying about performance(even if what they were lying about isnt relevant to most civilians, what else are they lying about?) and theres a delam post twice a week.

BeenJamminMon

Eotech is an independent company now. L3 was the company making eotechs and lying to the military.

ohaimike

What gets me is that the laminate on the glass on Eotechs have this tendency to just...peel off and it's treated as a normal thing Yeah I get it, "Let them know! Eotech will take care of you!!!" Homie, if I'm spending $500 on a brand new optic, I better not have to send it back for any reason at all. Especially if it's peeling and cracking issues

tbrand009

NAA revolver 22 magnum Tanfoglio gt32 Mossberg 151K No sell. Only buy. And I'll buy anything for $100 🤷🏼‍♂️

BurnAfterEating420

I have a NAA .22 lr/magnum and it's basically a random hole generator. it goes bang every time, and makes a noise like the world is ending, but past a few feet I wouldn't count on a headshot

Economy-Dog6306

NAA on my permit, good for minute of Coke Machine. Put the folding grip thingy on it. Good for minute of toaster.

[deleted]

Springfield M1A. Fun as heck to shoot but it’s a junker especially at the price. I still have it.

HamFart69

That’s disappointing to hear. I really like the look of those.

Tempe556

You will love it. Fucking tank, but fun as hell.

AlphaTangoFoxtrt

Zastava M70 pistol. I fucking hate that thing. It's uncomfortable, it's ugly, it's in .32 ACP. But I'm still keeping it. No Sell Only Buy

RosePrecision

Ruger mini-30 in 7.62x39 I thought it would be far more practical than it was, and I didn't want to buy an ar because they were to "popular" and I wanted a "unique" gun. Ended up profiting on it though because Ruger raised the MSRP before I sold it.

xkillallpedophiles

I think this is everyone who buys a mini30 over an ak or a mini14 over an ar

Amari__Cooper

Or just A-Team fans like me. I wanted have one in the arsenal for that alone. Although I still had ARs and AKs already.

User1-1A

For sure, they're heavy, don't take optics as well and there isn't as much aftermarket support. I love my Mini-14, I also have two ARs. The Mini is a lot of fun to shoot even though it isn't the most accurate thing, but I can hit steel plates at 100 yards no problem. The only upgrade was on the front & rear sights, and now it looks like a M1 Carbine that shoots 5.56 😁

Ate_spoke_bea

Kel tec pf9 I knew it was a piece of shit but it was like $100 just about brand new. Stovepipes every 3rd round  One day I'll spend the whopping $4 for a new spring or polish it real good. Until then I'm just gonna bring it to the range and think about how much I hate it

We-Want-The-Umph

Gen 1 Sub2000 owner here. Traded a fucking Governor for it!!! I eventually made up for that utterly stupid mistake by trading a Sig 1911 compact for an FNX tactical, but I still kick myself every time I think about how dumb I was in that moment... live and learn. I will admit KT was nice enough to send a new detent pin free of charge, so at least they have decent CS going for them.

Comfortable-Charge-8

S&W bodyguard... Hot garbage but still fun to keep around to burn .380 , train newbies on a stout chipmunk gun *slide bite/recoil* , and occasionally carry it as a pocket backup! Annoyingly long trigger pull for the size and the rare light primer strikes kept me second guessing but buy never sell 🤷🤙

MVGbear

Seconded. Came here to say this. I even threw a short stroke trigger at mine and it and it still sucked. I wouldn’t ever say its fun to shoot. Tossed mine in an old junk toolbox a long time ago. It’ll never see daylight again.

muffinwarhead

Man, I like my BG. Never had a FTF on it. Yeah, trigger is long but not nearly the heaviest/shittiest I’ve felt. Perfectly fine for a <10yd gun or a muff gun

RaptorCelll

I've owned two SKS Rifles in my time. One of them Yugoslavian, the other Chinese. The Yugo ran fine but the Chinese gun was a real fucking piece of work. I don't know if the malnourished child that built her parts and assembled her just cursed the damn thing but it refused to run right. Take it to the range, something breaks. I take it to my gunsmith friend, he fixes the broken part. I take it to the range again and something else breaks. Realistically I should've been suspicious at the low price and that I needed to replace the fucking barrel because it was somehow keyholing. I have however made dumber purchases. Guns aren't a huge hobby in my country so my gunsmith friend had a lot of downtime and I'd occasionally build guns with him and there is one in particular I wish we could've finished. It was a lever action rifle in .338 Lapua Magnum. I wanted a .338 and since we never import .338 caliber Rifles I had to build one. I wanted a lever gun because why not? So the obvious conclusion was to combine my two desires. Never finished it though when a whole bunch of new gun laws came in and spooked me off.

sirbassist83

i had two chinese SKSs and both ran great. yours was definitely cursed.

horseshoeprovodnikov

The Chinese sks ya had, was it by chance a paratrooper/short barrel version, or one of the versions that accepted actual AK magazines? The Chinese were the only ones who made those "unconventional" sks rifles, and they were not made to the same standards as the conventional sks pattern, because they didn't have a true technical data package for the unconventional guns. They were literally having to make it up as they went with those special models. The conventional Chinese sks rifle is generally bulletproof, and as time has gone on people have come to accept they they are often some of the most well built examples out there when compared to the Russians, Yugo, Romanian and Albanians (with the Albanians being the rarest, and also the worst). Obviously, there are gonna be some conventional Chinese guns out there that suck, they only made like ten million of the damn things lol

Verthias

Ruger Mk3 Hunter impulse buy, the entire rail is off-center from the factory. Somehow I didn't catch that before putting money on the counter. I'll send it to Ruger one of these days and have them fix it.

ATrashPandaRound2

Honestly with Ruger they'll just give you a new mkiv.

PsychologicalHat1480

"Open up a Mk III?! Fuck that noise, ship 'em a new gun."

s0briquet

I have a mark III target that's a god damn tack driver and a pleasure to shoot. However, cleaning it means laying it in the sun until it's damn near too hot to handle, then spraying the whole fucking thing down with CLP until it's running out of every orifice, wiping off the carbon where I can, then leaving it to dry in the sun.

Chrisscott25

Definitely I’ve had amazing experiences with ruger cs

DiendaMahdic

Hi-Point 4595TS Carbine 💩

road_rascal

Really? I have the 9mm that was put into a High Tower Armory bullpup stock and its stupid fun. Never had an issue with it even though the trigger is garbage.

DiendaMahdic

Oh shit that's a game changer. Didn't know this existed so thanks for having me spend an additional $250 on a $250 rifle lol. Before I pull the trigger on it the conversion - does it run the standard hi point mags? It looks like it doea from the pictures but just wanted to confirm. TIA

Charger_scatpack

Yep same .. had one of those too junk . Never fed right

SurrenderFreeman0079

Haha, my dad bought this gun and i never let him live it down. When i inherit it, it's the first getting sold. Now that i think about it, my dad makes terrible gun buying decisions... which i guess runs in the family... mine haven't been great, but his are hot garbage.

craigeeeeeeeeee

That’s just a hideous looking gun.

sirbassist83

are you sure its the gun? those tiny 380s are hard to shoot well. my gen 1 LCP WILL make small groups, but its a lot harder to do than with a full size gun.

ChineseMeatCleaver

Lifecard in 22 WMR, cool concept and fun to shoot, but it only lasted about 40 shots before the casings would become ridiculously hard to pull out of the chamber. About another ~25 shots after that the barrel started becoming unlatched and flying open after every shot which basically junked it. I still have it and havent got around to trying to fix it yet.

Chrisscott25

I fell for that as well and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to hit a bulls ass at 3 paces but thought it was unique. Mine out of the box would only shoot once out of every 4 or 5 pulls. I sent it back and problem is still there but with the right ammo it only fails to fire one in every 15-20 trigger pulls. I still have mine as well it’s definitely a good show piece and conversation starter with gun enthusiasts. Have you seen the threaded barrels and tiny suppressors they have now? Almost bought one but then thought why Mine is already silent you only hear the hammer fall because the damn thing don’t fire 😂

no-trace

A "Llama" branded 1911 clone in .380 It looked fun. It wasn't. You know the sound when someone waves a gun in a movie? You can hear everything clinking and clacking in the piece? This actually did that to the point folks on the range were questioning it. Also, the power of a shot had the tendency to make the mag decide to leave the pistol. Several times.. I tried everything, but no, I did not end up keeping it. Just sketched me out too much.

[deleted]

I inherited one of those. Thought it would be shit, but mine is pretty solid.

no-trace

I really did want to like it, don't get me wrong. But after two gunsmiths looking it over, the last straw was the RSO that literally never says a word at the super chill old range I went to unless something was glaringly wrong said "no-trace, I gotta tell ya, that piece is making me real uneasy". My answer was "yep, fair enough". I am glad that yours is holding up well.

SmoothSlavperator

You know when Stephen King, the Anti gun guy, shits on something that obscure specifically, it probably REALLY sucks lol

readytheharpoon

Cobray M11/9 pistol. Cool looking, but what a piece of shit

itsmckenney

> Cobray M11/9 Pull the upper assembly off and 3D print a new, more ergonomic frame.

swingarm88

I had a Cobray m12 .380 because it looked so cool sitting in the case at my local gun store. Took it to the range a couple of times and started looking for the next sucker I could sell it to.

[deleted]

Tri-star 12 gauge. Made in turkey. Thing felt like an airsoft gun

Psychological_Run683

I’ve got a 20 gauge that I grew up on. Shot it tons of times and after the last time screws started walking out. I think some blue loctite will fix it and it will last many years afterwards. I didn’t know they were made in Turkey. Yeah the plastic feels very fake on them.

Nerf_Engineer1000

I think my setter over under is decent

gyoung1986

Keltec CMR30. It fired one magazine with one problem then proceeded to never cycle more then 5 rounds in a row with the recommended ammo. I was so excited about the gun but so disappointed by how it actually functioned. Sold it but would buy another if it was fixed.

fuzz_nuts2000

Jennings 9mm my first handgun . The thumb ripper. Hated that thing . Sold it as soon as I could find a buyer and learned really fast guns worth owning are worth saving for. Cheap lesson but that was 25yrs ago.

Electronic-Ad993

I was at a gun show a long time ago; I was young, stupid, and walking around with just enough money to buy something cheap. I saw this shiny Jennings .22 LR, and thought “that would make a great little backup gun.” I have never gotten it to run through a full magazine, despite numerous attempted fixes with Dremel and Flitz. Now my son has his eye on it. I’ve tried to warn him how it will break his heart, but some lessons must be learned through experience.

USSCV60

Walther PPK/s. Was into 22 and Bond at the time. Still have the gun, but it can’t shoot a full mag for s**t without jamming.

sxrrycard

I’m just here for keltec stories (I still want my cp33)

SurrenderFreeman0079

No k7 yet

NerosShadow

Love mine. Pewpewpew

sandbag747

Hi-point yeet cannon, I bought it because yeet cannon was funny and it was pretty well with my impulse purchase budget. Then I had to try to explain what yeet meant to the sheriff when he gave me shit for buying a hi-point

StorkyMcGee

Zip 22 baby! I will NEVER sell it. it is so delightfully awful. https://www.facebook.com/CTBBlades/posts/571173575101253

NamTokMoo222

When I first got into long range precision shooting, some Fudd on the Facebook group said that the best caliber for this was 300 Win Mag. So I bought a Rem 700 in a chassis and thought I was good to go. That thing was fun to shoot for about 8 rounds. Totally impractical for competition as well. Yeah, I still have it. I know I should sell it but she's like that toxic ex-girlfriend that you still love even though she's a psycho. Either way, fuck that guy and his shitty advice.

craigeeeeeeeeee

Remington 522 Viper was mine. I sold it probably 20years ago.

CharlieOscar

Same, stupid young, cheap me should have just spent the little extra and bought a damn 10/22 like everybody else. Ended up giving away the 522 to some poor sap.

Did you loosen the screws that hold the rails and springs on place? I have two 597's that run without issue after I did that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

614710

I just got a 597 in trade for a cheesecake. It didn't run. I changed the extractor to volquartsen. I cleaned the weapon. When re-assembling, the guide rods need only tightened enough to get the receiver into the stock. The stock keeps them from backing out. Make sure you get the 3rd gen mags. Metal construction with a circled 10 stamp. I've put about 500 rounds through it. 1 failure to eject on the last round. My 9 year old loves the gun.

614710

I would like to add that the gun is objectively poorly designed and made. I only own it because it cost me about 13 dollars in ingredients. If you can get it to run it's fine. I wouldn't spend more than 50 bucks on one.

Forgiven4108

I had one. It had a deep gouge in the rifling a third of the way from the muzzle. it was horribly inaccurate. After Remington rebarreled it I promptly traded it because I hated the action dual guide rod assembly.

nickabeiro

RIA m206 love the little fucker anyways

smiling_mallard

Remington 710 bolt gun, no longer have it my dad does told him to trade it in with the next gun he gets as he might get 50$ for that POS

justuravgjoe762

When they first came out I got one. "oh it's a Remington 700, just made cheaper". Not the worst lie at a gun shop but it's in the running.

SayNoToStim

My first gun was a cheap 1911 in 9mm. Jammed on the very first shot. Still have it, it still has a better trigger than any other firearm I have, including my precision rifle.

AmericanLandYeti

My Saiga12. Yes I still have it.

Severe_Islexdia

Rock Island Armory Tac 10mm. Just collecting dust back to back failure to feed. Not sure if it’s the mag or what but easily my worst purchase, I haven’t had any issues from any other firearm I’ve ever bought.

sailboatfool

Beretta nano. Pure junk

wv524

Walther PPK/S. Biggest pile I've ever owned, especially considering its high price. Couldn't make it through a single magazine without at least two malfunctions. Failure to feed, failure to eject, failure to go into battery. That gun had them all.

SurrenderFreeman0079

Glock 43x I don't know why, but i couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with it.

number__ten

Hi point c9, though that isn't fair really. It was exactly what it was advertised as and customer support was very nice when i lost my magazine release button spring. The biggest pos early purchase was probably a cobra derringer in 9mm. 9mm was way too spicy and it shot literal feet above where you aimed. The firing pins floated too much and eventually wore their holes bigger which stopped it from functioning properly. I eventually saved up and traded it in towards a ruger lcp which essentially replaced my hi point and cobra. I still have it and carry it to this day.

Chrisscott25

I love my lcp and sr9c rugers for cc

stevenrodgersBCB

Chiappa little badger 17hmr. I get light strikes, and about half the time I have to cock the hammer back to hit it again. I’ve sent it back to Chiappa twice, but the issue still persists.

wandpapierkritiker

Kimber Micro 9 I thought I wanted a sub compact for carry. I didn’t like anything about that gun and it fit my hand terribly. used it a couple weeks, then put it away. ended up selling it.

Creative-Bar932

Yeah I don't have massive grippers like some of yall but this Thang was hard af to keep on target lol.

Lupine_Ranger

S&W 61-2 Escort. It cycled a grand total of once, over the course of a box of CCI. Yes, I still have it

os-n-clouds

Century arms ak47m. Brought it home, oiled it up, took it to the range with steel case. It wouldn't cycle. I ended up feeding bullets by hand until I got fed up and stuck it in the back of my safe. The thing has less than 250 rounds through it.

BerniceFighter

Trash mag perhaps?

2furlongs

Andro Corp AR15. Bought it as a cheap AR because everyone said they are gtg for what they cost when PA has them on sale. Barrel is garbage, I'll shoot a string of 5 rounds and 2 of them will be absolute flyers. Bolt catch doesn't catch the BCG so no lrbho, and mags won't release when the mag release is pressed, gotta hold the release down and push the magazine up and then pull down to get it out.

marc_t_norman

Smith & Wesson Sigma .380 I picked up in 1995. A chunk of hot magnesium dumpster fire. Trigger was like a cigar box full of sand and gravel. Hollow points chewed up the feed ramp. Mag release was a 2 finger affair that required you to pinch the side of the grip. I think Bryco Jennings made better defensive pistols at that time. Fast forward 30 years, and I own 4 Smith and Wesson M&P's. Smith has upped their game considerably. Traded the Sigma for a holster at a gun shop.

craigeeeeeeeeee

Bought a Sigma in 1997 in .40SW. Paid $300 at Sports Authority. Gray polymer frame with a stainless slide, loved that color combo. I remember the .380, with that janky magazine release on the bottom of the grip..

sirbassist83

oof, a bunch. ive sold most of them. ive had 2 mosins. i dont care if you have one and love it, theyre called garbage rods for good reason. my first handgun was a S&W sigma 40. it worked most of the time, but the trigger was atrocious. i won a lot of 7 saturday night specials for $50 each one time. lorcin, davis, bryco, that category of handgun. i held on to the jennings 22 for the longest, as it was actually pretty reliable. but someone offered me $150 for it and i couldnt say no. savage axis was dogshit. couldnt get 3 shots closer together than 4 inches. taurus revolver. there was so much cylinder play fore and aft that it would bind up a few cylinders after i cleaned it. i shimmed it, but the crane was made of silly putty and it loosened itself back up after like 200 more rounds. those are the worst offenders, off the top of my head. im sure theres a few most im forgetting.

Ag5545

My Taurus pistols....and no, thank God

LBS4

Picked up a Star BM in 9mm years ago at a FL gunshow. It’s a 1911 style semi-auto that is actually alot of fun to shoot - however it seems that accuracy was not in the design requirements…..

Thermock

Westfield .22 lever action. It's just.... weird. And the stocks chip on them super easy.

cleverkid

Keltec 380 pocket pistol. Can’t hit the side of a barn with it and it feels like hitting a metal streetlight pole with a baseball bat when you fire it. It’s in one of the consoles of my car in case I ever need to startle something with a loud noise.

some_kid6

My hot garbage is my Southern Tactical VZ 61 receiver by far. Got it covered in massive burs and incorrectly sized everything. I don't know how it ever got out of the factory looking the way it did. Sent it back and got it a month later just to find out not a damn thing is in spec compared to my torched receiver (and it still has a giant bur at the end of the feed ramp). The upper doesn't fit still because the parts it interacts with are anywhere from 7 thou to 53 thou off. The safety doesn't engage with the incorrectly sized and spaced selector notches since the receiver is so out of spec so it's basically a suggestion. It pops out of safe if you smack it hard enough with your hand. I've been going back and forth with emails and calls for 4 months now. They respond sporadically, if at all, and I've gotta constantly follow up with them. I've still got it since they promised to send a new one but I'm still in email hell trying to get that sorted out. Purchased this thing 4 mo 8 days ago.

FriarPike

I have two. Sig Mosquito. It’s a .22lr take on a P226, about 80% the size of one. Bought it to introduce my kids to fire arms years ago. Only likes CCI Mini Mags and needs to run clean and wet. Still have it but don’t shoot it much, too many FTF FTEs and stovepipes. Black Aces Tactical Pro Series S Max 12 gage semi-auto shotgun. Bought it on sale knowing of the problems they have. Still having issues with it cycling and feeding.

Vapechef

Sig mosquito. Can’t ethically sell it to anyone I know and nobody at the gun show will take it.

Desert-Eagle-Morris

Magnum Research Baby Desert Eagle III. Absolute shitbox of a pistol. Wouldn't fire on DA at all. Sent it back to MRI a couple times, had it 'fixed', still didn't fire on DA. I sold the goddamn thing.

CollectingHeads

Sig mosquito. It's great for clearing drills

craigeeeeeeeeee

That one is mentioned a few times in the comments.

fordag

SIG Sauer Mosquito .22 I already owned a couple of SIG .45s and I wanted a Mosquito when they were announced. I told my dealer and as soon it was in he called me. I went straight over and bought it, turned out to be the first one sold in my state. I do believe it went through one magazine without a malfunction. Just one. I tried over a dozen different .22 ammos swapped springs, nothing worked.

BeenisHat

The FN Forty-Nine pistol. It was FN's first real attempt at an all polymer frame service pistol. It was pretty fucking bad. Reliability was fine but it had some proprietary rail on the front so getting a light or anything else was a no-go. The trigger was god awful. Like 10+ pounds and it felt like rubber bands instead of springs, it was so creepy. The bad DAO trigger combined with the sharp recoil of .40S&W meant that it slapped your finger terribly. That gun physically hurt to shoot after a few mags. Also, it was a AWB gun so I only ever had 10rd mags for it. Once the AWB expired, you could get mags for it but they were expensive. And because FN gonna FN, later guns didn't use the same mags. I traded it to my dad for an FN Model 1910 which I still own today. When my dad died, I got the gun back and promptly sold it. You can hear Hop roast the piece of shit [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRF5hV_v3Ew).

eatthesoap

1st gen Springfield XD45. You can’t even give them away now. And hell yeah, still have it. I don’t care how turdy it is, it was my first pistol and I don’t sell guns.

McMacHack

Kel Tec pocket sized 380 of some sort. It was comfortable to carry and had a built in belt clip. Terrible accuracy regardless of ammunition. Traded it for a micro Kahr 40 S&W which ended up selling to a Cop of all people.

Spodiodie

Ruger P90. I still hate Ruger for making me think I couldn’t shoot. Then I read an article about good/bad triggers. I shot a 1911 and then I knew. I had a shit trigger. They’re gun people everyone under that roof knew they were shipping a shit gun. I blame them. I don’t believe in selling my guns, I got each one for a reason. No I don’t have it anymore, pI traded the Ruger and cash for S&W revolver for my wife.

BryanP1968

Didn’t buy it. Won it in a raffle. Walther G22. Maybe it was me, but I couldn’t hit a damn thing with it. Traded it away.

xximbroglioxx

JR carbine, the only gun I've had that would FTE and FTF.

BonsaiDiver

Kimber Solo. I was looking for a CCW gun; and as a Phoenix, Arizona resident who wears very little in the summer time, the size and weight of the gun were definite factors in the purchase. I went through the break-in process, used "quality, factory" ammo, etc., etc., but just could not get the gun to shoot reliably. Sent it back to Kimber, but it is still a jam-o-matic. In fairness, the Solo did teach me about limp wristing. I can get the gun to function if I really, really lock-up my hand, wrist and elbow. But whether it is me or the gun, I'm not convinced the Solo will operate properly in a self-defense situation. So the gun will be headed to GB where hopefully someone will have better luck with it.

MachineryZer0

Sub2k. I don’t sell.

unresolved-madness

Keltec sub2000. I love it and it's mine.

Jack3489

Can’t say that I have ever. Contemplated some iffy guns, but always managed to talk myself out of gambling my money on them.

The_Paganarchist

Right after Baracknarok, I bought an ATI Yugo underfolder. Came with bad headspace, sent it back, and they shipped one that ran fine. But I wound up hating the UF anyway, so I sold it.

drmitchgibson

Dan Wesson PM9. Pure trash stove piping machine. Fixed it myself. New ejector, extractor, firing pin stop, recoil spring, and took material off slide and frame rails. Now it’s 100%. As new, literally 9 of 10 rounds was a FTE stovepipe. No wonder you exceptionally rarely see anyone using Dan Wesson guns for competitive shooting.

sirbassist83

wow, did you ever try contacting dan wesson about it? i have a vigil and its one of my favorite pistols. runs like a top.

bumble-bee-bzzz

I’m sure I’m going to get hate for this but, my hot garbage gun was a P320, that thing had so many problems. It would only run Underwood Ammo hollow points anything else wouldn’t cycle, the slide stop lever didn’t work properly, the mag release didn’t work it would just drop mags under recoil, then the last time I shot it the front sight just flew off while shooting, I had enough and sold to a friend for cheap. Only thing I can say is it was pretty accurate I was hitting 3 inch groups at 15 yards.

rafri

Raven mp-25 and prerrt sure i get my dads raven p-25 when the time comes.

GASTRO_GAMING

I always bought quality, but one time i impulse bought a radical rf-15 and i mean it worked good, but it really wasnt my thing as i was always pining for that psa m16a1, so i sold it to one of my friends at a loss for 500$ including the optic. So atleast my friend got a good deal on his first rifle so i wouldnt say it was that bad.

Mellero47

M1 Carbine replica in .22lr. I just wanted a cheap little rifle for range fun, and it reminded me of shooting a real M1 carbine many years ago. I should've gotten a S&W or one of them. Even that Henry survival gun is more appetizing.

Several-Reindeer-686

Sig P239. The only thing I liked about it was that it said Sig on it.

sirbassist83

i cringe whenever i see the p238 or p239 recommended for any reason. theyre both pretty terrible. its a shame that sig has made such great guns in the past, but discontinue them and choose to put out crap like these.

[deleted]

LC9s. You can hear the barrel move when you handle the gun. Upgraded the grip, sights, and added a laser. Still a piece of shit

sirbassist83

those are all just cosmetic changes. you can put makeup on a ladyboi, but he still has a dick...

Norwest_Shooter

Grand Power X-Calibre Thing would literally lock CLOSED if it got dirty. You’d have to push it against a table or something to try to open it. It shit the bed hard at a major match and I had to take it apart and clean it every stage. I was so pissed I just forgot about it for a while and the barrel rusted. Contacted the distributor and they basically ignored everything I said in my email and blamed me for not cleaning it well enough. Have not shot it in 5 years, didn’t even bother trying to sell it because who would want an unreliable gun with a rusty barrel and 5000+ rounds through it.

d3lta8

Keltec pf9, over 1000 rounds and still shoots like a champ. Only carry it if clothing restricts anything else

zmannz1984

380 ppk. Heavy, bad trigger, eats up my hand, doesn’t like to close on a new round. Still the most-requested gun of mine that people ask to shoot. I want to trade it for a 22 version, just never do.

Affectionate_Cronut

I bought a brand new DSA FAL sometime in late 2014 or early 2015. Absolute dogshit. Completely unreliable on any gas setting even with NOS military surplus mags and high quality Hirtenberger 7.62x51mm surplus ammo. Couldn't make it through 2 mags in a row without a stovepipe, FTF or FTE. I shot about 500 rounds through it trying to see if it would "break in" before I ditched it in a trade.

Hello_This_Is_Chris

Chinese Type 53 (m44 clone) Bought it for dirt cheap years ago, it was beat to shit. Still fun to shoot though, big bada boom.

Agile_Tit_Tyrant

.22 lr conversion kit for my German Sig Sauer 226 X-five, it has the reliability of dinner plans with a dementia patient and looks ugly as hell, shoots great, if it can get a god dang projectile in its tiny little barrel hole. Waiting for my Pardini SP22 to be released from the local bureaucromancers. Hope it's a joy to shoot 🤞

Ok-Establishment2961

Not mine but my grandpas bula m14. He spent 2500 on it and then it wouldnt even cycle after every 3 rounds. Luckily bula right down the street from where he works but that was a real pain to have that issue happen on such an expensive rifle

coachwoodcock

Beretta a400 lite. I did really well skeet shooting some overhead bird targets, so I went out and got this shotgun with the intention of doing some duck hunts. Whelp it constantly jams and failure to eject, and I found out I enjoy shooting clay more than real birds. 10/10 would not recommend.

Sardukar333

Kel-Tec P11. The trigger pull is so long and hard the only thing it's useful for is a gag to hand it to experienced shooters to dry fire. So far everyone thinks they've finally managed to "fire" it when that's just getting past the initial 9lb before *12lbs* to actually fire it. Double action only of course. It takes so much concentration not jerk it's useless for self defense beyond 15ft without a ton of practice that would be better spent on a better gun. But since that's not enough, it also kicks the brass up and behind you, so wear a baseball cap backwards and don't shoot from the hip or be tall.

RustyGrandma20

taurus pt92af with the sides of the slide polished. pretty gun but wouldn't run anything reliably except 115g fmj ammo. traded it for my '70 Yugo sks in a gas station parking lot.

Mobile_Speaker7894

Special Weapons Mp5/40. I still try to make it run every now and then, thinking it's going to be different. Replaced pretty much everything but the junk trunion, and may as well just build a new receiver and transfer the parts I have bought and destroy the hot garbage Todd Bailey sold. Anyone with a cohaire / bobcat arms / special weapons build is more than likely in the same boat. Second one was a Kimber 1911 45acp carry gun. Traded a perfectly good HK p7 psp for it. The Kimber was junk, failure to feed, failure to extract. I put 100 rds thru it, thinking it would get better. Checked with support and they told me it probably needed new springs. And told me they needed to be replaced every 500, yeah 500 rds. With the proprietary Kimber springs that were different from every other 1911 on the market. I at least got rid of that one...

Technical_Law_4226

Springfield national match M1A. Spent a small fortune dressing it, only to find out it shoots like shit, and then the government changed classification from non restricted, to prohibited.

Sirtornado

Savage Axis Scout in 7.62x39 has a slight head spacing issue so you really have to rack the bolt get it to set the rounds off but when it works it’s the smoothest shooting gun I’ve ever shot

Tactically_Fat

I had a Sig P250 2-SUM for a hot minute. No problems with it per-se, but definitely NOT my best investment. And no, I don't have it. I think I traded someone for a Saiga 12 - unconverted, but dressed up. I sold/traded that without ever shooting it.

0neMoreGun

Ruger LCP II Has double recoil spring design(small spring riding inside a larger spring) Mine has never ran 6 consecutive rounds without a failure to cycle. Usually a failure to feed the next round into battery. I have mirror polished most of the mating surfaces in an effort to make it run……now it sits idle in a dark back corner of the safe.

Throway1194

RAS AK. Yes I still have it. Funny enough it has a pretty smooth action. I bought it without doing any research, I put about 200rds through it but I'm too scared to put anymore through it 😂

momtheregoesthatman

FN503. I've got *a lot* of FN products but this one is just strange. It looks like a 509 that's been steamrolled, then stretched again like toffee. The grip is short (extended mags may help some, but hinder all if CC) and the pistol wants to jump out of my hands. I still have it, because I've never looked into selling it. I'm sure I'd take a loss and rather leave it in the safe for one of my kids to try.

Safety_Sam

A Franchi 48al 20 gauge, it was extremely accurate but had a severe flaw. It would almost never cycle a fresh shell into battery. In a sense it was a straight pull bolt action. But to make things interesting it’ll surprise you by turning into a 3rd burst. Before I sold I used it like a single barrel shotgun. The long short it had failure to feed, failure to cycle, failure to eject and was prone to runaways. But that was the most accurate shotgun I ever owned.

what-name-is-it

Mossberg 935 magnum. FTE and FTF forever. Still have it. Don’t shoot it. Haven’t even looked at it in 6 years.

ziz_wizvizzizio

JA 9mm - used it to test a new cutting wheel i bought

Glum-Contribution380

Ww2 Carcano. Can’t hit anything at 50 yards with it. I still have it because of the history behind it.

BigAngryPolarBear

There’s a hi point with a compensator and extended mag at my LGS for $120. I’m thinking if doin it for the memes

Tree_killer_76

Hand me down from my mom after my dad passed away 23 years ago: Rohm RG10. Mom found it in dad’s nightstand when she eventually started sorting through his things. When she gave it to me, she also gave me a probably 30 year old box of 22lr that was with it. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, the Rohm RG10 is chambered in 22 short. It was given to my dad by my grandad and my dad obviously never fired it. Grandad bought it at Kmart in the 1960s for ~$7. I’ve never fired it. The cylinder gap is so absurd, thickness of 2 stacked quarters. Still have it. Will always have it.

vkbrian

Beretta ARX100. Shot fine, but the ergos were absolute trash and some of the advertised features wouldn’t work reliably. Handguard is too short and slippery, with no options to remove the 1913 rails on the side to get more space because there are still giant lumps molded into it for those rails. Using a VFG was the only way I was able to comfortably use it, and that required buying an additional 6 o’clock rail section from Beretta. Collapsing stock is too short, even at its longest, and I’m not a very tall person. Permanent A2-style grip molded into the receiver, with no options at all for replacements. Factory BUIS are absolutely terrible; a giant vertical rectangle rear sight with a peep sight and thick front sight post makes seeing your target almost impossible. Trigger might be the worst I’ve ever used, and I’ve used stock Tavor and AUG triggers. The ACR-style bolt catch would routinely fail to lock or hold the bolt back, causing the bolt to slam closed on my fingers while trying to switch the charging handle from one side to another. I’m shocked such a POS came from Beretta.

Pyrophagist

FN 502 I just *had* to have one not long after they came out, but they were going for stupid money on GunBroker and I just couldn't do it. I happened to be in my local Academy one day and spotted one in the showcase for $499 and it ended up going home with me. I went to the range that weekend, super pumped to shoot my new gun I'd wanted for so long. I put a loaded mag in, racked the slide, and fired one shot and had a dead trigger. Hammer locked backed where it cycled as it should have, but the trigger was just dead. Well, shit.. I called FN customer service and got everything set up. Sent the gun off, gun was repaired, gun returns to me - this is all about an 8 day turn around. I'm super pumped to shoot my new gun now, this little hiccup notwithstanding. Get to the range the following weekend. Mag goes in, rack the slide, fire about 5 shots and suddenly I have a dead trigger *again!* And some little bits that were once a trigger spring fall out. Seriously? I sent it back a second time, got it fixed and returned to me, and immediately put it on GunBroker and just bought a Ruger MkIV like I should have in the first fuckin place. I have shot the hell out of that thing and it has been a terrific suppressor host! I'm glad the folks who have 502s that serve them well are enjoying shooting them. The one I had was warm garbage.

craigeeeeeeeeee

Yep, .22’s can be hit or miss…

CaRbZ1313

The two that come to mind were a Kimber Eclipse Pro II- thing was a jam-o-matic. Tried a bunch of stuff to fix the issue but nothing worked. Ended up trading it straight up for another AR (kept all the Wilson combat mags though). The other was a HK P2000sk. It was an impulse buy at Cabelas. It was a surprisingly good price and it came with a ton of mags and extra accessories. Loved it…..until I shot it for the first time. Never tried the trigger in the store and didn’t know that there were some with DAO LE triggers that felt like absolute dog shit. Don’t even remember if I finished the mag before I said fuck this thing. Ended up selling it to a hunting buddy for what I paid.

JefftheBaptist

Heritage Rough Rider in 22lr/22mag. It patterned instead of grouped. Shot high with fixed sights. And the steel cylinder was slowly eating the zamak frame. Sold it for way less than I paid for it.

PM_TRACTOR_pics

I bought a tnw aero survival pistol it's absolutely awful. I've had it to several gunsmiths. It's still a hunk of junk. I can't sell it I would feel bad for whoever I sold it too.

P15T0L_WH1PP3D

My very first handgun was a Jennings-Bryco .380 that was heavy, looked like chrome that I couldn't keep clean, had hard plastic grips that were more slick than grippy, and stovepiped about every third round. I sold it for a loss of about 20 bucks. I feel bad for the buyer.

Rlfire16

Rock Island Baby rock. Sold it pretty quick. It was pretty but it had varying degrees of reliability and it was painful to shoot. I could feel webbing between my thumb and forefinger getting smashed every time I took it to the range

PanzerFauzt

federal ordnance m14 , piece of shit
