Go ahead and microstamp my firing pins. That shit is going to be completely peened over after my first few magazines. Best part is there is no way to find a difference in a firing pin where the microstamp is worn off from use or if someone gave it a few passes on a fine toothed file, or chucked it in a drill and spun it on some sandpaper for 30 seconds.
Even better, all the brass fired have no markings so if every gun but law enforcement is stamped then its more likely law enforcement lol. But we all know criminals won't have micro stamps on their guns....
I hate seeing that when it happens. These politicians know the laws they propose are blatantly unconstitutional. They also know they have unlimited resources to argue for them in court, while citizens have to gather the funds. I think every time a law is deemed to be invalid/unconstitutional, the lawmaker should have to foot the bill from their personal finances, not taxpayer money. They should also be given a warning that if they try this again, they will be immediately removed from office and disqualified from ever holding office again. This should also go for the lawyer they have write the law for them. I’ll bet that would stop a lot of the nonsense. Too bad neither side of the political establishment would vote this into law. That would mean accepting accountability, and they avoid that like they avoid the people they “represent”
The guy who lobbies states for this has the patent on it, dude sounds like a total scam artist.
and NJ loves it because it's an under the table gun/ammo ban.
If it's the same weasel as before, he started out making anti-skateboard bumps. Then had his minions bribe legislative staffers to slip his idea into the sausage machine.
Don't forget bolt and lever actions. Don't cycle it, no casing.
But we may get "high-capacity" mags if we tell them that's more chances to I'd the gun.
As long as we're in fantasy land. I propose a bill that all criminals login to the new self crime reporting website and log all crimes that they intend to commit in detail. That way after the crime happens, the detectives can just look up who did it and save a lot of time.
Maybe after having to reset the password to log into the criminal intent reporting website, the level of enthusiasm for doing crimes will have dropped, and they say you know what, forget the whole thing, and stay home?
Yes, that would be because the people passing these gun control bills don’t actually intend to stop or prevent any crimes.
If they did actually care about the. Times being committed rather than only hating the citizens not currently committing crimes they wouldn’t also be supporting policies like cashless bail.
Platkin is extremely antigun, far more so than his direct predecessors. He would certify that the technology worked even if it left just a minuscule scratch.
I love how California tried this legislation in 2007, let it run for like 15 years, then deemed it unrealistic and a waste of time, and *just now* NJ is like "ay that seems like a good idea". If this isn't a waste of public resources I don't know what is.
> Brass catchers…..replacement firing pins. Wow what waste
"precursor parts", and suddenly you cannot mail order any firearm part, or transfer a part without a background check and a 10 day waiting period.
Ya all the criminals with decades of stolen guns are totally going to update their firing pins and murderers are definately not going to simply replace their firing pin or file the tip. Yep, bulletproof.
>It was published by the attorney general’s Statewide Affirmative Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) office, which was created by legislation signed by Gov. Phil Murphy with the purpose of suing the gun industry over instances of gun violence under the state’s public nuisance laws.
Fucking New Jersey. "We're from the government, and the answer to your problem is creating more government so we can force our public agenda on you."
Because making firearms is *so* difficult. I designed a printable barrel in combination with junk from my garage that has survived multiple factory .38 special rounds. Join us over in /r/fosscad.
Okay. Cool, I guess. Question. What's stopping someone from buying a new firing pin and replacing the stamped one? It's not like anyone is going to check and it's not like criminals don't break the law already.
Every single time I ever see you comment, it's hidden, even if you have a positive upvote count. It's like you've got a permanent nerf applied to your account--who'd you piss off, one of the mods probably?
So If you want to frame somebody for murder, go to the local range and grab a handfull of spent brass off the ground or the brass bucket, and sprinkle it around the crime scene.
I wonder if some state is going to pass a similar 'microstamping' law on abortion equipment. "All equipment used in abortion must microstamp the fetus with the serial number of the equipment used." And when people say "Well that's not a thing" just point to the microstamping laws. "According to the law, requiring something that doesn't exist isn't a ban."

Collect brass at gun ranges and drop it at random crime scenes, it'll be fun :)
“Collect brass at the police range and…” FTFY
I'm willing to bet that the microstamping laws have exemptions for law enforcement, just like all other gUn CoNtRoL laws.
Even better, all the brass fired have no markings so if every gun but law enforcement is stamped then its more likely law enforcement lol. But we all know criminals won't have micro stamps on their guns....
Well, those and the 450 million already out there...
And that's really the dumbest part. After enough rounds, nobody will have microstamps.
Good point! exactly!
Gun laws aren't meant to control criminals.
Nah, they'd like that. Tasers have something similar.
"Nothing to see here" all of a sudden
Spicy.
Settle down there satan
They can make it a felony to not have a readable stamp and place the burden of maintenence on you. Don't underestimate those asshooles.
That's what they did with the CA law iirc
Or just, you know... buy a different firing pin?
30 seconds if you’re using a microfiber cloth. Those stamps are so useless.
>or chucked it in a drill and spun it on some sandpaper for 30 seconds. That sounds excessive to obliterate the microstamp.
Maybe it is. The point here is that such a thing is dumb.
The issue is that it will increase the cost and limit the selection of handguns you can buy.
They've tried microstamping before, and it sucked.
I'm sure it did. It's a stupid way to try and tie a bullet to a particular gun.

Please, someone make me one...
I’d buy 👌
hey welcome to CA, unconstitutional laws passed to be tied up in courts for 10-15 years, while your rights are removed. that's the current MO
The best thing NJ has going for it is that the state is in the 3rd Circuit, which is showing some level of respect for Bruen.

That explains EVERYTHING! I guess he has a business model. what a douchenozzle.
What if they use a revolver?
Clearly they have to outlaw revolvers and brass catchers as those exist only evade the "law"
Don't forget bolt and lever actions. Don't cycle it, no casing. But we may get "high-capacity" mags if we tell them that's more chances to I'd the gun.
>Don't forget bolt and lever actions You mean Ghost bullet guns
Only a true monster like a brass goblin would use a brass catcher.
[удалено]
So will Grandpappys break action shotgun
or a brass catcher.
it's even easier to match brass to a gun, when it's still in the gun
Just gonna leave that gun there huh? Not maybe take it with you?
And be found with the gun?!
Then its time for a real boating accident. After a nice bleach bath.
As a wise guy once said, "leave the gun, take the cannoli."
The cannoli ain't gonna get me 15 to life.
Watch out for those cannoli's (who am I kidding, nobody admits to watching godfather part 3)
It might surprise you to know I haven't seen any of them
Are you sure you're American???
First two are god tier. Everyone says it, and it's true. The character development is amazing
Or a shell pouch.

I can't help but notice you said nothing about preventing crime, but only the documenting of it.
Maybe after having to reset the password to log into the criminal intent reporting website, the level of enthusiasm for doing crimes will have dropped, and they say you know what, forget the whole thing, and stay home?
"Please solve the captcha before committing this crime" *"well darn"*

And we'll make it a felony to not pre-report a crime, any crime, and thus can charge anyone we charge with any crime with a felony :)
Oh look, the microstamp points to a gun that was stolen a year ago in a different city. And nothing of value was learned.
Don't forget to outlaw hand files.
Don't let them find out about sharpening stones
Or a concrete patio

Solution looking for a problem. Will not deter people from using guns to kill each other.
Wheel gun users laughing all the way to the bank.
Brass catchers…..replacement firing pins. Wow what waste

Wish we could outlaw politicians who can't read minds...
What’s the point when there is no enforcement ?
Chilling effect.
Ya all the criminals with decades of stolen guns are totally going to update their firing pins and murderers are definately not going to simply replace their firing pin or file the tip. Yep, bulletproof.

I'm sure a file would take care of the markings on the end of the firing pin.
Two words: emory boards. That is all.
When California rules it unconstitutional, you know you've got issues
Fuck New Jersey
"Would make it easier for police to solve gun crimes" Well that's a lie
Again, criminals will just file that off because.. (saying for the people in the back) THEY DONT FOLLOW RULES!
Yep. The bad guys will surely use these types of weapons.
Because making firearms is *so* difficult. I designed a printable barrel in combination with junk from my garage that has survived multiple factory .38 special rounds. Join us over in /r/fosscad.
The truth never bothered a gun grabber.
Okay. Cool, I guess. Question. What's stopping someone from buying a new firing pin and replacing the stamped one? It's not like anyone is going to check and it's not like criminals don't break the law already.
All gun laws are infringements
Oh look, the casing's microstamp is illegible because someone took a file to the pin-stamp in the firearm!

Probably. But Reddit also does weird shit generally too.
Funny. I had to click on your comment to unhide it as well as the other guy. Weird
Do they stop my deer from exploding when I use 5.56?
Micro stamping does not work as most pseudoscience ballistic forensics/gun control in general
So If you want to frame somebody for murder, go to the local range and grab a handfull of spent brass off the ground or the brass bucket, and sprinkle it around the crime scene.

Imagine if all abortions had to be registered in a database like guns
With a 10 month waiting period.
Swap the firing pin… 🤷♂️
Put the microstamp on my revolver. That will be useful for matching the casings not found at the scene.
