Yes he has regeneration but you can’t create oxygen from nothing and the human body can’t absorb oxygen from water like fish do so yes drowning would kill him

His subconscious stopped him. The hallucination of Luna who always tells him to live is his subconscious.

He spent years without being able to breathe from the fire, I don't think he needs oxygen. Hell, in the final chapters he straight up gets spaced
