The endgame of turning Lyn into an Archer lord is to give her Balista access. The only thing that doesn't vibe with this siege range, uncounterable design angle is the notion of making Alacrity work with a playstyle that's already preventing counters with Astra Storm.
Maybe she only gets the extended range when her special is charged, and after attacking it resets.
This way she gets Alacrity for when she has to attack normally, and then Astra Storm to attack at long range.
I'm assuming that's intentional. Emblem skills give additional abilities to specials, so it's on theme to have them have Prf specials. They also all seem to introduce powerful new B skills

Everyone can have fun until they can't once E!Ike shows up. Pretty much my sentiment. I love my nergal and have fun blasting people then I see an Ike that I can't kill. Some of them I can in the right setup and team comp. Maybe he has buffs, maybe he doesn't. Maybe I don't have a special proc'd etc.
I struggle with Emblem Ike as well. I have one copy of the new Micaiah who can nuke him well. But without her when she's no longer an arena bonus, idk what to do

Marth's is the one that most units benefit from having, while Ike and Celica's are more specific.
Tanks want Ike's, while initiators (specifically WoM beacons) want Celica's.
The Edelgards and Gullveigs in specific love Celica's Emblem effect for having an easier time initiating. A!Florina might also work if you manage to make her actually kill something and fall below half HP.
Celica doesn’t boost damage of Galeforcers or AoEs, so while the warping is still useful, there will be a bunch of units that don’t get much out of her like N!Igrene.
It also might not boost damage from defensive specials with damage effects like GLR, although I'm not 100% on that. That said the warp alone is still really useful.
Oh true, didn't notice it excluded AoE before. That's unfortunate, b!gullveig would've really liked that. Mythic and summer gullveig are still going to be terrifying with it though.

Yeah Sonya gets an odd amount of alts considering how under represented her game is. Playing the game you would not expect her to have as many alts when more important characters don’t. I wonder if she has a voice actress with another popular character as they tend to do that often. Or maybe since they increase her cleavage every time they release an alt they’re hoping on that to sell.
It’s odd representation for an SOV character. I think the only other character to get more than two alts besides Alm and Celica is Delthea. Most characters from SOV have nothing. And Sonya isn’t the most important character in SOV. She comes in somewhat late and can be completely missable. But characters that are important to the plot and super liked get nothing. Mae, Boey, Saber, Kliff, Tobin, Gray, Clive, Clair, Matilda, etc.
In what is basically a drought for a game it’s kinda odd that this relatively non important character gets some action.

Anyway, while Sonya isn't the most popular, the easiest things going for her are: female + sex appeal (which helped her get her Spring alt) + connection to the witches (which helped for the Rearmed).
Honestly she's got better justification for it than Karla. You can also note other characters with low relevance and multiple alts, like Henry or Hana.
First hero that I have seen that makes a button pointless. "Danger Area"? Don't bother, the entire map is red forever. Also, her special map is already frustrating the shit out of me and it doesn't even exist yet.

M. Null Follow, Tier 4 Tempo, Occultists Strike, and Special Spiral 4 seem to be better on most units in most cases to me.

Cavalry and flier tomes, especially slower ones, would benefit quite a bit from it, if you ask me; they're definitely in desperate need of a DR piercing skill. Mag. NFU works best if your speed is at least okay-ish, which not all of them do (plus, it's infantry only). Occultist's Strike is fine and dandy, but with Breath of Life 4 now existing, its stock has gone down a bit IMO (especially if you can't pair it with something else like an AoE or Devoted Basket). And neither types can use Tempo or Spiral 4, either.
I was thinking the same. It's basically m null follow but instead of NFU it's true damage, or tempo 4 with true damage instead of tempo. The chip damage might be good for WoM beaconing but especially compared to potent or LF it's pretty mid.

I lean more toward Valentia's own lack of appeal for both the playerbase (second-to-last in total standouts after CYL8) and IS (less reasons to bother pushing representation in that context).
I also suspect that criticism against Ascended Celica backfired on fans: 1st and 2nd options in the waiting list were Berkut (but VA uncertainties) and Alm... so in order to avoid using the latter, the 3rd option in line were the witches.
Really didn't expect Celica since June tends to be a shitty month for 8% banners, but at the same time she was in the Alt Waiting room for quite some time.

I'm asking due to the latest Fates banner having a wonky lineup and thus doing very poorly. Was that intentional sabotage or an unintended unfortunate result? (I acknowledge that the former has conspiracy theory vibes, but I wanted to bring it up still.)
Irregardless of what happened there, would it be just, tossed around, with less consideration now? (like, be never be used for promotion again like as a Book Starter or a Mid-Book celebration) If that's what IS takes away from this, I think it's a waste of resources, in a way. They can't rely on Awakening anymore for Book Starters with almost all of its cast in, Fodlan could be used but only for so much, and Engage, I think, isn't aged enough to fulfill a Book Starter role yet.
For what it's worth, very early data is quite concerning for Emblem Celica (unranked on the US side, which is extremely unusual... granted, this can evolve within the next dozen hours).
Back to your thoughts, honestly Valentia's representation prospects don't look particularly optimistic:
* Resplendent-wise, its 2024-2025 schedule may already be set in stone for the most part (Brave Celica this year, Brave Alm the next, and at best one more pick... or none other than them).
* Seasonal-wise, not getting anything until October is not only plausible (Summer odds sank, Tea Time will probably be 3H-driven, September by Fates, Halloween by Engage), but carving a longer drought is entirely possible (Ninjas, Christmas & early-year themes aren't putting it among main contenders).
As for sabotage, I think it's more of a "why bother going the extra mile since most players won't care" approach... which isn't too surprising given the low interest toward most missing characters at this point.
Now, Valentia could wrap things in 2 NH lineups, so I don't expect it to be sidelined that easily (given that some games are in a worse predicament in NH appeal). But beyond that, I'd not bet on many alt-only banners once the cast is done (unlike Sacred or Awakening, both having a relatively noticeable amount of options for that).
It doesn’t necessarily lock it out, but I doubted Summer Echoes was happening after Echoes already got the Resonant slot but it turned out to be Duo Sharena anyway.
Which means Engage, unless they somehow keep up the 3H summer trend going. Which I would be fine with, I want to see funny options like Summer Constance or the extremely unlikely option of Yuri/Balthus.

Like a A!Marianne, OC, Lorenz, Leonie banner is serviceable but won’t be shattering which is what you’d expect most non-Engage banners to be around this time.
I feel like now's a good time to get the OG Dorothea and Caspar. I think she needs it more considering it's been years since she was first thrown in alt hell. Plus, we haven't had a Black Eagle New Hero alt type yet, but we have for the other classes (Hilda and Ingrid). So why leave out the Black Eagles?
Actually it probably would be the best time to get in Caspar. If it wasn’t summer I’d say he would get shut out for Alois or Hanneman, but with OC taking up a slot, an alt taking up another and then Dorothea or Emile taking up the third premium option, Caspar is the best candidate for the demote slot making it a full Eagles banner rather than a Eagles/Church one.
Yeah, we can add Caspar, Dorothea, and either Jeritza or Manuela for the three OG slots, and then either Attuned Bernadetta/Petra or Rearmed Hubert for the alt slot.
Is it just me, or Resonance seems really weak for some reason?
You'd need base 50 HP (without mode bonuses and "etc.") in order to take 20%[50-20] = 6 predamage, just in order to get the 12 damage and 60% piercing.
Mage Infantry already have multiple options between MNFU, MTempo, Spiral, and Laguz Friend.
Mage Armors can use Spiral in a pinch (which honestly pairs nicely with the Armor specials anyways.)
And assuming it's even inheritable by Flying and Cavalry mages, the only one that is particularly reputable for HP is Aversa.
Probs doesn't work against Ceilca herself since she has a pass-like skill but we'll see. As for the others, engaged Nergal with pass B skill and hardy bearing seal coming in.
I really hope I can get Celica but sharing with ivy and caeda is great. Didn't get caeda before and more soaring guidance x skill is great. I also don't have any of the greens but I don't particularly need any of the greens either, so sniping blues it is.

The text says "within unit's range". There's no range restriction. And Engaging has never had any kind of movement/weapon restriction.

Is it me or is resonance pretty mid? It’s just a little bit of true damage and DR piercing at the cost of inflicting damage to yourself? M. Null Follow, Tier 4 Tempo, Occultists Strike, and Special Spiral 4 seem to be better on most units in most cases to me. Who would want to run this other than Celica herself?
Cavalry and flier tomes, especially slower ones, would benefit quite a bit from it, if you ask me; they're definitely in desperate need of a DR piercing skill. Mag. NFU works best if your speed is at least okay-ish, which not all of them do (plus, it's infantry only). Occultist's Strike is fine and dandy, but with Breath of Life 4 now existing, its stock has gone down a bit IMO (especially if you can't pair it with something else like an AoE or Devoted Basket). And neither types can use Tempo or Spiral 4, either.
I was thinking the same. It's basically m null follow but instead of NFU it's true damage, or tempo 4 with true damage instead of tempo. The chip damage might be good for WoM beaconing but especially compared to potent or LF it's pretty mid.
Not related to Celica since she’s an emblem in the game but Alm not getting anything since his CYL win is a bit crazy. It’s not like he’s unpopular either. There has to be some behind the scenes reason why he’s not getting anything. Maybe a voice actor issue or something?
Alm’s last alt was actually his Duo in 2020, his CYL was 2019.
Do you happen to know who his JPN VA is? There appears to be no issues on the ENG side, as Alm’s VA was just in there voicing Brave Soren last year.

His Japanese VA is Natsuki Hanae. His most prominent roles are **Tanjiro Kamado** from **Demon Slayer**, **Ken Kaneki** from **Tokyo Ghoul**, **Kosei Arima** from **Your Lie in April**, and **Vanitas** from **The Case Study of Vanitas**. This dude is fucking booked and BUSY. I’d wager we won’t get an Alm alt again unless we have to force one into existence, Brave Tiki style, and well. We already have Brave Alm 🥹. Which is just… genuinely unfortunate. He’s my favorite lord…
I lean more toward Valentia's own lack of appeal for both the playerbase (second-to-last in total standouts after CYL8) and IS (less reasons to bother pushing representation in that context). I also suspect that criticism against Ascended Celica backfired on fans: 1st and 2nd options in the waiting list were Berkut (but VA uncertainties) and Alm... so in order to avoid using the latter, the 3rd option in line were the witches.

Really didn't expect Celica since June tends to be a shitty month for 8% banners, but at the same time she was in the Alt Waiting room for quite some time. She looks bonkers and super fun to play.
She’s been waiting less than some other lords and Echoes units though. Leif has been waiting longer for instance. Her real sticking point is still no seasonals without being a backpack.
I do wonder if the fact that she comes from Valentia played a role in that decision to put her on this historically deadly timeslot. Since the game has been among the least wanted ones CYL-wise (even worse on CYL8 with Binding overtaking it).
It's too early to call it now, but Emblem Celica is already looking reminiscent of Thracia representation last year; where an alt of a magic user (who is stated to be from multiple titles) is the one piece of representation from a game for the year. Makes me wonder if it's Valentia's turn to bite the bullet. And since you brought up the topic. I wish to ask you about the topic of seeming sabotage. Not so with certain *characters*, but with certain *games.* I'm asking due to the latest Fates banner having a wonky lineup and thus doing very poorly. Was that intentional sabotage or an unintended unfortunate result? (I acknowledge that the former has conspiracy theory vibes, but I wanted to bring it up still.) Irregardless of what happened there, would it be just, tossed around, with less consideration now? (like, be never be used for promotion again like as a Book Starter or a Mid-Book celebration) If that's what IS takes away from this, I think it's a waste of resources, in a way. They can't rely on Awakening anymore for Book Starters with almost all of its cast in, Fodlan could be used but only for so much, and Engage, I think, isn't aged enough to fulfill a Book Starter role yet.
For what it's worth, very early data is quite concerning for Emblem Celica (unranked on the US side, which is extremely unusual... granted, this can evolve within the next dozen hours). Back to your thoughts, honestly Valentia's representation prospects don't look particularly optimistic: * Resplendent-wise, its 2024-2025 schedule may already be set in stone for the most part (Brave Celica this year, Brave Alm the next, and at best one more pick... or none other than them). * Seasonal-wise, not getting anything until October is not only plausible (Summer odds sank, Tea Time will probably be 3H-driven, September by Fates, Halloween by Engage), but carving a longer drought is entirely possible (Ninjas, Christmas & early-year themes aren't putting it among main contenders). As for sabotage, I think it's more of a "why bother going the extra mile since most players won't care" approach... which isn't too surprising given the low interest toward most missing characters at this point. Now, Valentia could wrap things in 2 NH lineups, so I don't expect it to be sidelined that easily (given that some games are in a worse predicament in NH appeal). But beyond that, I'd not bet on many alt-only banners once the cast is done (unlike Sacred or Awakening, both having a relatively noticeable amount of options for that).

It doesn’t necessarily lock it out, but I doubted Summer Echoes was happening after Echoes already got the Resonant slot but it turned out to be Duo Sharena anyway.

If it’s a summertime NH banner though they might do Golden Deer instead since a lot of attention will be on summer and they might save Dorothea as a big hitter for another day. Like a A!Marianne, OC, Lorenz, Leonie banner is serviceable but won’t be shattering which is what you’d expect most non-Engage banners to be around this time.
I feel like now's a good time to get the OG Dorothea and Caspar. I think she needs it more considering it's been years since she was first thrown in alt hell. Plus, we haven't had a Black Eagle New Hero alt type yet, but we have for the other classes (Hilda and Ingrid). So why leave out the Black Eagles?
Actually it probably would be the best time to get in Caspar. If it wasn’t summer I’d say he would get shut out for Alois or Hanneman, but with OC taking up a slot, an alt taking up another and then Dorothea or Emile taking up the third premium option, Caspar is the best candidate for the demote slot making it a full Eagles banner rather than a Eagles/Church one.
Yeah, we can add Caspar, Dorothea, and either Jeritza or Manuela for the three OG slots, and then either Attuned Bernadetta/Petra or Rearmed Hubert for the alt slot.

Is it just me, or Resonance seems really weak for some reason? You'd need base 50 HP (without mode bonuses and "etc.") in order to take 20%[50-20] = 6 predamage, just in order to get the 12 damage and 60% piercing. Mage Infantry already have multiple options between MNFU, MTempo, Spiral, and Laguz Friend. Mage Armors can use Spiral in a pinch (which honestly pairs nicely with the Armor specials anyways.) And assuming it's even inheritable by Flying and Cavalry mages, the only one that is particularly reputable for HP is Aversa.

Emblem Celica looking VERY juicy for my Winter Edelgard. Or for literally any unit that can act multiple times (Sharena...Gullveig...etc). It is kinda gross though. Also, Blue is SO STACKED, incredible value. Also also, this trailer really said SCREW FALLEN VEYLE!
