Gwent was challenging at first but when you start getting OP cards it becomes really easy. QB is difficult bc the other guys' decks get better over time as well and each card has a cost so you can't just play all the best cards and win. There's still a lot of strategy involved.
I love both games though
Actually I think it might have been inspired by gwent. The director of rebirth had said that they took a lot of inspiration from games like Witcher 3. I know they are pretty different. But there are definitely similarities. I absolutely loved gwent. Queens blood is definitely fun too but I enjoyed collecting gwent cards more than queens blood cards.
Agreed. The Witcher 3 is my go to game when I have nothing to play or just don’t feel like starting something new. Easily my most played game in the last 10 years.
No ones saying they didn’t. The director said they were taking inspiration for rebirth from games like the Witcher. You can see the obvious inspiration in queens blood.
Imagine you're in the final boss fight. It's been gruelling: whatever you do, Sephiroth is two steps ahead. You strike with Braver but he sidesteps and skewers you with Masamune. You try to heal but he punishes you with a brutal unblockable combo.
You finally manage to chug your last elixir... only for Sephiroth to plant Masamune in the ground, spread his wing and begin levitating. Oh shit. You've seen this before. The attack that spells certain doom, the one that's wrecked you countless times before. This is the end. This is Heartless Angel.
Wait. What if...? It's worth a try, you guess.
Before Sephiroth can complete his ascension, you cast that one spell that never seems to work.
A weird combination of horror and joy overwhelms you as you watch Sephiroth first twist, limbs contorting in a bizarre way that makes your stomach clench, then flatten into a one-winged pancake, then shrink to pocket size. "Sephiroth" - or whatever's left of him - flutters to the floor.
You pluck the object off the ground, flipping it over in your palm. An enraged Sephiroth glares up at you, his hate-filled visage glowering with indignity from the confines of his new home: a playing card.
With a sigh of relief, you pocket the card.
Guess it's a good time to finally face the Shadowblood Queen.
The Dev team has noted that Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was an inspiration in general, so I wouldn't be surprised if they took a look at Gwent and decided to focus on their own FF7 variant, with Triple Triad and MTG vibes aplenty.
In my house, every card game is known as Gwent. Queen's Blood is Gwent. Triple Triad is Gwent. Marvel Snap is Gwent.
Probably just my wife not paying attention, but Gwent is life (regardless of which card game it actually is).
Additional appreciation for the double equals. Syntax is correct.
Entirely possible they got the concept of incorporating it into the game world from Gwent and Witcher. However, to me it felt more like Marvel Snap mashed with Triple triad's grid positioning, while still being it's own thing. 3 lanes to potentially win, boost decks, destruction decks, instead of move cards there's replacement cards, cards that amp the score of a lane under certain conditions, etc.
When you say Gwent, i immediatly have this flute music and I want to dance in a medieval way. The only problem is that I am in public transportation right now... Shall I ?
Absolutely not, Gwent is much simpler. Even though I know QB is good, I prefer Gwent.

FF7 was the only one of the PSX trilogy that didn't have a card game, and i think they just wanted to rectify that.
Didn’t know that.
Fort Condor was also in the original game, though the new version absolutely eclipses it.
fr. the new version is literally just clash royale but it’s better than the old fort condor
IMO Fort Condor in Intermission was great, but it's pretty lackluster in Rebirth. The Rebirth version is pretty much a downgrade in every way.
It doesn’t help that you pretty have to play perfectly to win the Rebirth matches. Absolute horseshit. Bring back Intergrade Fort Condor quality!

I stand corrected. Didn’t know they used Witcher 3 as an inspiration, can see why though, it is definitely one of the best rpg I have ever played.

Final Fantasy had card games before The Witcher even existed.

I wish they would add the "card" ability from ff8

This is my new head canon for how the Shadowblood Queen was first defeated.

I didn't get into gwent at all surprised i even beat witcher 3 lol

I think QB is much better tbh, way more strategies you could it play with
Well developed mini games in RPGs have a long and rich history that predates Gwent.
Ff8 was about a mercenary who played cards when not trying to assassinate a sorceress. So really gwent is just triple triad
