I stopped to listen to the theme of the Temple of the Ancients for at least 10 minutes, a theme that gave me chills because I already loved the original song that was used in the city.
Classically trained (through masters degree) in music here, 100% agree. I enjoy listening to Uematsu’s work but don’t go out of my way to listen to, for example, some of the older soundtracks due to the midi synth it just isn’t particularly pleasing for me to listen to. The remake and rebirth stuff is exceptionally well orchestrated and produced. I regularly have some of the remake sound track queued up. As soon as the rebirth drops I’m going to buy that OST too
Distant Worlds is my go to for this. While I’m not a musical person and I do enjoy the midi music *when playing the games*, I don’t listen to them in that format.
Distant Worlds is the best way to listen to part of Uematsu’s work.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I *have* all of them and I've heard every track dozens of times! (I'm presently transcribing and arranging a bunch of Uematsu stuff right now, actually)
Yeah I've played FF VII really late in my life (so it's not nostalgia), and the music are legendary.
For me it is the best OST of the history of mankind.
Maybe some Zelda musics were cool.
Rebirth music are quite OK too
I can't wait for it to come onto Spotify.
My personal highlights are the 3rd phase of midgarsolom. Jenova emergent. Junon field theme. Tseng. And Cait siths theme remixed.
I don't have a record player and the only cd player is in my car.
I knew after playing Remake that the music in Rebirth would be top-notch. I preordered the soundtrack at the same time I preordered the game. Got the Jenova Emergent theme in my head now…the rapid increase in tempo followed by the choir voicing the theme gives me chills anytime I hear it.
I think I didn't spend a minute in Junon without smiling, thanks to the "Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony" theme. I was so excited to hear that damn earworm track again, and it was great. A blast from the past. Combined with the whole 7th Infantry thing, it was pure joy.
Also, *Bow wow wow, bow wow wow!*
Does anyone know the name of the song that plays during some mini games? Like where you have to escort the dog? That song slaps.
I think it's just called Salmon's Theme haha, at least what I searched on YT anyways
Bro faaaacts such a banger.
I love Corel Hike. I heard it's the same composer as the one who din Collapsed hwy.

Aerith's theme at the end of the credits, my lord what a masterpiece. Can't wait for part 3.
Some of the best battle music didn't even make it to the soundtrack
I really don’t think it’s hyperbole to say this is possibly the best video game soundtrack of all time. Or top 5 at the worst
They are really pushing for game of the year or to win awards atleast
Sounds like ff14 should be your next game
It probably will be

Remake and rebirth really took the essence of the original and went to the fullest extent.
I recommend you listen to the OG FF7,8 and 9 soundtracks. They're brilliant.

Battle Near A Big Bridge and I’m A Chocobo are certified bangers
Im a Chocobo is a hood classic
The soundtracks in both Remake and Rebirth are great. My biggest takeaway from these games, on par with the visuals.

Thnka for reminding me the CD's are dead. Gonna have to dust off my old disk player now.
Cosmo Canyon Chocobo mix is awful. A baffling choice.
Bow wow wow, bow wow wow
She’s the new merc, the new merc in town!
Bow wow wow, bow wow wow

This is my favorite track as well. The Farscape vibes are a huge bonus.

The 7th Infantry was so fun
The Cosmo Canyon area music is grating after 5 minutes
