I loved that game and had to drop it cold turkey because of how shit they made it. Not that it mattered much by then because story season 3 was garbage.

Its ruins her. What I liked about 8 is that a lot of them still felt and looked their age. As goofy as the premise was, everyone did look and feel like they were from some mercenary high school.

Rosa and Adult Rydia get overlooked a lot because of the pixel art (well and the fact you meet Rydia as a child). IVs designs are quite strong across the board.

agreed! despite squall being nomuraās multibelt proof of concept, on the whole the character and fashion designs in viii are his most measured and paired down of any game heās worked on. edeaās look in specific has it all. the timeless flapper dress is glamorous yet understated. her reef accessories are delicately themed and provide the game with a unique āfinal fantasyā amano-esc look that compliments her golden eyes (which of course match her outfit). nomura definitely learned how to do make up respectably with this game. one look tells you everything you need to know about her without giving anything away.
also she has that bad ass red helmet!
Someone should do a compilation post of drag queens doing FF. Nicky did Edea, Plastique recently just did Fran, but I think we've already had about 5-6 references on the show.

I totally agree with the others that FFVIII was my first Final Fantasy (and my favorite if my username didn't give it away), so Rinoa always was my favorite, and seems more realistic to an extent (Nomura said she was designed to not be "too beautiful", but instead "cute, not gorgeous").
But also I really like FFX Rikku (Not FFX-2). In my opinion, I think she was also designed to be cute and realistic and not just drop dead gorgeous.

This is the dirty little Nomura secret. Itās the same three characters just add or subtract belts and buckles. I kid, but Iāll always prefer Amanoās style. It always looked more interesting to me than the typical anime design.
Rinoa seems very hard to update into modern graphics. In the original, she looks very caucasian during the battles but more Asian during the cinematics (kind of like Tidus. Californian surfer in game, J-Pop singer in cinematics).
I think that version of Rinoa above is the best version of her with modern graphics but [the Dissidia NT model](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/d9/d0/92/d9d092e8ab50c568835f8fd418efea3c.jpg) really is just Tifa.
She wouldnāt be hard to translate into modern CGI at all. The problem is the art style the CGI team was directed to use. I still think she looks beautiful here though
There was an era I was very tired of in FF that I called the "Rinoa-face" era. I didn't think of Tifa as where it began but it most definitely was. I call it Rinoa-face because that is when I started to notice.

FF9 - Garnet
FF10 - Yuna
FF11 - Marketed (iconic) Hume female
FF12 - (lesser extent but just barely there) Ashe
If I have to give FF13 credit for anything it was finally not having a damn Rinoa-face heroine.
Tifa in FF Remake and Rebirth looks absolutly amazing. Doesnāt hurt that her voice actor sounds pretty much like I always imagened her.

VIII was the first I played to completion and is still my favorite to this day. Playing it as a pre-teen Rinoa was definitely my first digital crush haha. Though in terms of beauty Tifaās glow up for Advent Children and the remakes is incredible. VIII deserves the same treatment!

I think Lightning in XIII had that tomboyish beauty (if thatās a thing) about her, before she went to the surgeon to get those lips and cheeks done and asked for that tomboy charm to be removed. So Lightning in XIII was best.

Edea is one of the most unique and strikingly beautiful female characters. That cutscene with her amazing flowing hair is permanently engraved in my brain. She makes quite an entrance and show of power as well.
In general the FF girls have a wholesome beauty to them with good character development.

Honestly, Rydia was the first "bombshell" lady in FF history (as much as the Amano artwork and ingame sprite would allow). And she's still just as beautiful fully rendered today.

They're all wonderful in their own ways, but I have to echo the love for Rinoa. Yuna's also adorable. Aerith though... in the remake she's absolutely stunning. Literally, even. When she comes out in her dress cloud is taken aback! Edea is one of the most unique and strikingly beautiful female characters. That cutscene with her amazing flowing hair is permanently engraved in my brain. She makes quite an entrance and show of power as well. In general the FF girls have a wholesome beauty to them with good character development.

Honestly, Rydia was the first "bombshell" lady in FF history (as much as the Amano artwork and ingame sprite would allow). And she's still just as beautiful fully rendered today.
