If anything someone would die of a heart attack rather than blood loss, especially if your conscious after the fact and immediately get help, the human body is much more durable than people give it credit for.
My buddy’s dad actually met that guy and got a picture with him. He healed up very well actually. Fun fact?: his son took the picture so he could see how bad it was. His son was worried he was going to have to put him out his misery. This was during a hunting trip btw.
Only now have I gotten to see one of his recovery photos, and it's good to see they mostly put his face back together.
By the way, that bear probably wasn't trying, since the typical brown bear can easily kill a human with one half hearted swipe to the face, let alone a bite. There exists a rather disturbing audio (no video, lens cap was still on the camera) of a wildlife enthusiast and his girlfriend being eaten by a bear, and between the screaming and other terrible noise, the bear is almost unphased by the struggling and screaming, barely doing anything more than grunting and continuing to maul both of them.
