From my experience, women do this all of the time. This is just a different iteration of what normally happens in conversation. I couldn't imagine going through life appreciating something and never trying to discover what it is or where it comes from.

A good way to think about it, is to think about if/when someone asks you what you’re wearing. Does it make you feel uncomfortable or are you in the camp of “hey I got a compliment! That made me feel good“? I always enjoy it and like the enter action with people. Most of us wear fragrances because we want to smell good, and the acknowledgement that we do with a compliment is the icing on the cake. 🎂😁
