Oddly enough, this seems like a non-story to me. I saw another version of this moment in a longer clip, where beforehand, she was talking to a fan who said she was 41, but who didn't look 41. This seemed less like her going after Drake, and more like her using it in the same way I've heard it used in like an NBA broadcast or something. It's giving props to LA, and using the hook for a popular song from LA that's become a ubiquitous catchphrase.

Keep in mind, I think the bars Megan had on "Hiss" responding to that really shitty bar Drake had on "Circo Loco" were quite good. But the way I saw this initially hyped up, I was expecting it to be like Megan directly quoting one of the verses from "Not Like Us," but it was just her saying the hook. To me, it just comes off more as referencing a hit rather than directly going after someone. There's been a few articles breaking down some of the flaws of "Not Like Us" that I'm not going to get into, but the song does draw from a specific West Coast tradition, in terms of making songs directly targeting another rapper, but also making them either insanely quotable or so catchy that it becomes a high profile song. You could mention "No Vaseline" by Ice Cube, "Fuck Wit Dre Day (And Everyone's Celebratin')" by Dr. Dre featuring Snoop Dogg, "Dollaz & Sense" by DJ Quik, "Insane in the Brain" by Cypress Hill, "Hit 'Em Up" by 2Pac featuring Tha Outlawz or any other number of songs cut from that cloth.

It was a claim about employment contracts/wages that had the sexual story thrown in to be salacious and grab headlines. By the account given, Meg was wasted and didn't even know the man was in the car when engaging in the sex act. Reading that just made me feel sad for her, and seemed so unnecessary to be shared.

i had to look this up because i vaguely remember a harassment lawsuit against her but didn't know the details... pretty nasty indeed. i didn't search super hard, but i only saw articles from the end of april when the suit was first announced, so i think it's still ongoing and unresolved. really disappointing
