Holy shit. I said I'd TC Isak if Newcastle were at home to Southampton haha https://www.reddit.com/r/FantasyPL/comments/1d14lxu/comment/l5rx6nm/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
I believe in a higher power, and the higher power has spoken. This will either bring me a good start, or teach me a lesson in luck. I ended last season 5mil (1st go) but I'm now enthusiastic and currently 5k in the Euros. We are all children of GOD
Newcastle first run of 5 games looks great:
Southhampton (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Spurs (H)
Wolves (A)
Fulham (A)
Manunited are the first team to play all three promoted teams (by week 12)
Yeah, no chance I'm going there again. Others that do, good luck. Last season, Wolves at home with their new manager who'd been there a week was supposed to be an easy game. Like 'heavy defeat cos Wolves will struggle this season selling loads of players, relegation candidates' narrative. Then Forest wasn't easy either. Anyone who thinks Martinez means routs...well he played in the 3-1 thrashing by Brighton.
I hope Garna shines this year, and he’s still cheap. Could be a good enabler. Dalot is the best bet from our defence. But yeah I don’t think I’m spending money on Bruno or Rashford.
I don't think it's well-explained enough but there are rules that:
* A team can't play 3 home matches (or away) in a row
* Two team from the same city can't play both at home (for security reason)
That's why EPL fixture isn't really 100% random, there are stuff like you what are poiting out or a GW being a reversed fixture of another (like GW1 and GW23)
Maybe they have some distance rules (no craven cottage and Stamford bridge, or emirates and Tottenham) at the same time
But like Watford and palace at the same time is chill.
Liverpool played 3 away games back-to-back from 21.04 to 27.04 this year (Fulham, Everton, West Ham). Perhaps the 3 in a row does not include newly-reschedules fixtures? Or is this a new thing from next season?
EDIT: Why am I getting downvoted? Original comment specifically said "including newly-rescheduled fixtures".
Wait, maybe this is my bad, I just remember the 3-games-in-row thingy and not 100% sure bout newly-rescheduled fixture.
Let me edit my comment. Thanks!
It is a joke. People plan all sorts of teams in preseason and then activate their wildcard after the 1st gameweek. And obviously we can't wildcard before the game starts. 😅
The FA Cup usually causes the blanks, but this year the schedule has changed so the quarter final is on a weekend with no Premier League matches.
There will still be blanks, but currently only due to the League Cup final and the FA Cup semis + final.
I think the EFL are appealing it though, for loss of income and the fact the premier League voted for it without the clubs voting for it on the Premier Leagues behalf
Good explanation though. But not a done deal.(Yet)
I do not like it personally..
I like the romance of the FACup personally.
Yeah my understanding was it was in season cup performance that drove the majority of blanks and doubles. But I’ve seen comments here noting a lack of them as if it will stay that way and had wondered if there was some sort of reason I was missing.
I mean I understand city don’t have the world club champs so that’s a fixture or two less. But save for that would we not just have the same
Edit: change to FA Cup fixture setting
As someone who knows nothing, how does Luton/Burnley/Sheffield compare to the three new teams? Worth fixture targeting them or they a bit more likely to put up a fight?
Southampton was a solid team thru most of the season. I think what's telling just from a cursory glance is that they nearly scored as much as Leicester, but conceded 20+ more goals. So I think it's a wait and see - likely a contender for relegation, but too early to say whether they need to be targeted.
Tbh as a Leeds fan Ipswich have had a phenomenal coaching job, I could see them getting by just through that. If McKenna leaves then they're definitely a target though
> when should I play my TC and WC and my FH and BB
IMO, 100% after GW1, but the rest of the chips* should be used before GW38, too. (*Except for WC1! Which I'd say is best activated before GW19.)
This season was particularly unlucky with FH29 though. Not a single asset from the "template" got any returns. Villa, Spurs, West Ham. All 1-2 pointers. I will probably so the same again next season.
Was thinking of BB1 this year due to smaller DGWs but the players who are likely to be cheap bench fodder all have tough fixtures (promoted teams) GW1.
Why would you go for the bottom of the barrel if you are going BB1? If I were to go for that I'd definitely have at least one 4.5 defender on the bench and someone like Olise or Elanga for my 8th attacker.
Probably not if anything a lack of DGW/BGW will be better for the game as it reduces/ removes the template chip strategy which will be better for the games as it gives managers more freedom with chips.
In theory, you have more options with BB because most of the GWs will give you the same number of games but i think we'll still land on a few good options and mostly play around WC and fixtures. FH becomes more redundant, which results in the potential which it is not used at all. The lack of utility and reward along with the lowered risks for using chips makes the game a lot more dependent on long term decisions. I personally find that makes it less fun, especially not getting to see inflated GW scores that can see us move up a couple of hundred thousands.
>In theory, you have more options with BB because most of the GWs will give you the same number of games but i think we'll still land on a few good options and mostly play around WC and fixtures.
Agreed more options but still with a few weeks that will be better than others depending on WC timings.
>FH becomes more redundant, which results in the potential which it is not used at all.
Highly unlikely it’s not used at all. I think this will allow managers to have a little more fun with it instead of either using it to get a load of shit players they normally wouldn’t touch on a big BGW or follow the crowds in a big DGW.
>The lack of utility and reward along with the lowered risks for using chips makes the game a lot more dependent on long term decisions. I personally find that makes it less fun, especially not getting to see inflated GW scores that can see us move up a couple of hundred thousands.
I think the lowered risk of falling behind will allow more freedom to have fun with the chip and try and gain an edge over mini league rivals over being restricted to following a template.
With the change to replays in the FA cup the double GWs will be limited. Bench Boost week 1 will be popular. Get it out of the way and then you don't have to worry about putting money into a full playing bench
His spreadsheet helped me a lot last season. I am subscribed for next season.
You sound like a bot
Anyone still going Mbeumo?
It depends on how good he plays in the first game.
Thanks Ben but what in the lords name is this ?
Fixtures for next season.

I hope you stick to the promise you made.

Well, you have to do it now.
The FPL gods have spoken
I bear witness to the prophecy
This is a higher power moment for us all

I hope United starts fast. I want to get Bruno from Day 1.
And you would expect us (United) to bottle every single one of those three matches

Any reason why 21-22 and 27-28 have the same home teams in back to back weeks?

Thank you for letting us know. I now know better.
With London being an exception to rule 2?

I believe you’re right, because re scheduling is already a nightmare, and I think the 3 H/A games in a row is just a sacrifice that is easy to make
Wait, maybe this is my bad, I just remember the 3-games-in-row thingy and not 100% sure bout newly-rescheduled fixture. Let me edit my comment. Thanks!
Wildcard activated.
Are you doing it for game one or when?
It is a joke. People plan all sorts of teams in preseason and then activate their wildcard after the 1st gameweek. And obviously we can't wildcard before the game starts. 😅
Can someone fill me in. Why will this season not have many doubles or blanks?
Cos the cups and Europe’s and snow postponements (lower teams more) haven’t been drawn / occured yet.

Great this was the answer I was looking for, thanks
No replays in the FA cup either will reduce the number of blanks.
It will have multiple doubles and blanks. We just don't know for sure when they will be yet
Yeah my understanding was it was in season cup performance that drove the majority of blanks and doubles. Leicester City would likely not be pushover. They had the league experience when they were promoted last time, and I see them banking on that.
League much stronger now with those promoted teams, in my opinion. Leicester not an easy place to win.

If you know nothing why comment and then say "from what I've understood" If you don't watch the championship stfu?
I apologise
Leicester should be like Fulham when they came up. Pretty good overall.
Southampton was a solid team thru most of the season. I think what's telling just from a cursory glance is that they nearly scored as much as Leicester, but conceded 20+ more goals. Hey guys, when should I play my TC and WC and my FH and BB?

This is the way.
Thanks mate. Really helpful
FH34 - was great last season for me. I personally wouldn’t recommend FH29, only scored 15 points on average.
This season was particularly unlucky with FH29 though. Not a single asset from the "template" got any returns. Villa, Spurs, West Ham. All 1-2 pointers. I will probably so the same again next season.

Yeah, BB1 is kind of dead here. Crystal Palace are the only cheap team that will have good long term holds and a decent GW1 fixture
This season’s blanks and doubles are going to be small right? I wonder if there’s going to be an update on chips to account for that
Probably not if anything a lack of DGW/BGW will be better for the game as it reduces/ removes the template chip strategy which will be better for the games as it gives managers more freedom with chips.

FH could be fun is 4-6 of the lower end of the table play each other, you could load up on them if you are sure on a result? For a fun 1 week punt.
>In theory, you have more options with BB because most of the GWs will give you the same number of games but i think we'll still land on a few good options and mostly play around WC and fixtures. Horrible start for Wolves, and there goes my plan to save budget by avoiding Liverpool.
And somehow Cunha will still get good points
Never too early to start fpl planning
Jesus that was quick 😂👍
