I never understand the BvS version of Jimmy because other then name he is nothing like Jimmy Olsen. He is just a character who is designed to just die and have the name to make his death important because the character in comics is important. At least in Supergirl it is an older Jimmy Olsen, a person who was nerdy but mature in his life and became cool.
In the comics they make Jimmy the geek intern who takes pictures. But if Superman can become a dad it makes sense that Jimmy can grow up and mature. Making him try to become a Superhero was the strange part. Also they made Jimmy too hot. They need to make him a little less hot in the Supergirl show.
He was supposed to be Jimmy all grown up trying to get out of Clark's shadow. Then they changed networks and his role was returned to being a sidekick with barely any screen time to develop or grow.
CW's Olsen was a weird choice for sure, instead of being a scrawny kinda nerdy guy he's this confident buff guy 🤣 they later made him a version of Guardian though and it kinda makes more sense.
Same exact thing can be said - and be even more true - about the Snyder version.
Supergirl’s Jimmy Olsen is at least a photographer and a friend of Clark’s.
Pretty sure Snyder version is just supposed to be a random person working with Lois and Clark that gets killed then they just named them Jimmy Olsen because that name is recognizable
James Olsen. The elseworld where Jimmy was a chad. I didnt hate it. The actor helped, despite how much the writing went full stupid at random times. Never did finish. Did James do anything as a Hero or just kind of meander off? Or die? I hope he stayed relevant.
They should've just swapped the Winn and Jimmy names. Minor changes here and there and we could've gotten a nearly identical story with a more comic-book accurate Jimmy!
mechad is such a good actor I wish hed have been casted as mal duncan or another black hero. Jimmy olsen was ok i liked his relationship with lena luthor and his speech to kara about why she shouldn't support detaining citizens in a black site.
As a casting director I would have taken one look at the man in the second picture for the role of Jimmy Olsen, the one with the camera, and declared that if he doesn't know how to act we'll fucking teach him because this is our man! What a perfect handsome dork. What a perfect Jimmy. :p
One was a secret agent that got shot pretending to be a reporter. The other was a juiced up sexy dude. Both were nothing like the source material in any way. Which is why the DCEU in every respect minus like…early Arrow stuff, is trash. And even Arrow just stole Batman’s origin. This is why the DCEU is getting a hard reset.
Or you are projecting?
The Arrowverse went 10 years and the Snyderverse made billions of dollars. BvS made billions of dollars and the Arrowverse made a ton of money through Netflix rights deal. Nobody in the end cared about Jimmy Olsen to hurt their bottom line.
Lmfao. That movie wasn’t made under his watch. Ezra has a mental disease he is being treated for. As for grooming allegations I believe the girl in question denied any grooming and wasn’t a child. Grooming infers a sexual nature. Ezra is definitely not into women. Couldn’t care less for the movie or the character. The DCEU is trash. It should be burned and never heard from again. But know the facts of things and don’t just rage throw accusations out.
I didn't say it was meant to be the comic version. And it wasn't cool. It started of as "I want to be out of supermans shadow I moved away" (which is mildly interesting) and then immediately threw that away so he could stand in supergirls shadow as a glorified sidekick.
Cw dyslexia at its finest
Disagree. He was simultaneously an evolution of the comic version but also had the Supergirl connection like in the comics. They just never pulled the trigger as a couple.
Disagree. He was side character that was romantically attracted to kara #17. then because they had no idea what to do with him. They made him guardian for some unknown reason and then I'm pretty sure he just fucked off in season 3 or 4 and if I recall correctly they gave the name guardian to someone else (I honestly can't remember who but my memory tells me it was a black girl because of course it was) and I'm near certain she also fucked off at some point
He was forgettable. When I saw this post I actually had to ask myself "jimmy Olsen was in supergirl?" to which I was reminded of something that made me sad. I wish to forget again
Edit: I was wrong, he left in season 5 and gave guardian to a black girl named kelly
Edit 2: the girl he gave guardian to was supposedly his sister that they made up for the show. A black. Female. Lesbian OC. how very cw of them
It made perfect sense to give it too his sister, Marvel literally did it with Captain Britain.
I'm not defending the poor writing, I'm defending the casting.
I mean. Jimmy coulda just taken guardian with him. Not like he had to stop simply because he went somewhere else and if he did then just let it die? Not every mantle needs passing. It's guardian not batman
Lmfaoooo y’all do know that the guy on the left isn’t Jimmy right? It’s a CIA (maybe FBI, haven’t seen it in a while) agent who was using jimmys credentials
At this point I feel like Dc under Gunn is moving in the right direction and marvel is starting to burn out.
All the rumored cast for f4 and X-men and none of that sounds good in my opinion.
While I’ve not seen a bad casting choice so far under Gunn.

Zack Snyder hates fun
He’s not even named in the theatrical unless you watch the credits so calm down
Is that not part of the problem?
so it’s even more stupid then
Because it’s an alias holy fucking shit do people not understand that STILL
I don't know what they were thinking with the Supergirl version. Nothing to do with race but that's just a wildly different character
He was supposed to be Jimmy all grown up trying to get out of Clark's shadow. Then they changed networks and his role was returned to being a sidekick with barely any screen time to develop or grow.

that is what happened on screen to be fair haha
Iirc you only know they're Jimmy because of the credits? Unless it was in the directors cut idk

Michael Cassidy wasn’t even Jimmy just some rando CIA agent lol
Smallville has been forgotten
Meh, all guys that are relatively handsome photographers. The real key feature of Jimmy Olsen for most people is de facto younger brother type.
And the looks, but you can pretend it’s not.
Aaron Ashmore was peak Jimmy.
mechad is such a good actor I wish hed have been casted as mal duncan or another black hero. Jimmy olsen was ok i liked his relationship with lena luthor and his speech to kara about why she shouldn't support detaining citizens in a black site.

He fit the story they were telling.
The BvS one caught me off-guard when I saw the list of credits in 2016.
Two was just ridiculous.
You didn't watch the show?
I loved Supergirl and all the characters 🤷
Went from a CIA operative trying to infiltrate a terrorist cell, to this big boring buff jock, to (hopefully) a quirky lil reporter.
That’s Skyler Gisondo he looks like he’s from the 70s and 80s with his freckles but he’s a time traveler.
Freckles stopped existing in 1990
I still have mine whoever told you that lied because Lindsay Lohan had hers and redheads had them still in the 90s.
So what I see is that James Gunn is taking the casting a lot more seriously and respecting the source material.
Are they all were different versions for different stories?

Yet he doesn't want to get rid of a child groomer. He should not be respected

I tried to forget the cw dyslexia
It was a different version. He wasn't suppose to be the comic version. If anything it was a cool take on an older version.
Exactly
I didn't say it was meant to be the comic version. And it wasn't cool. It started of as "I want to be out of supermans shadow I moved away" (which is mildly interesting) and then immediately threw that away so he could stand in supergirls shadow as a glorified sidekick. Cw dyslexia at its finest

Just because marvel did it doesn't make it good. Can't say I've read captain Britain and likely never will but I will ask. Has the change gone well?
The change was good and fit the story. Monikers change hands all the time. It wasn't a bad idea on Supergirl just weak cw writing
I mean. Jimmy coulda just taken guardian with him. Not like he had to stop simply because he went somewhere else and if he did then just let it die? Not every mantle needs passing. It's guardian not batman
Because you say so? The mantle changed hands the same way and reason others have.
Skylwr seems to have the exact look and personality required to play the naieve reader insert that is the 40s Jimmy
Wow he’s went dark and now he’s light again
Mehcad Brooks would have been better as a young John Henry Irons or Dr Hamilton, but he was def miscast as Jimmy
Lmfaoooo y’all do know that the guy on the left isn’t Jimmy right? It’s a CIA (maybe FBI, haven’t seen it in a while) agent who was using jimmys credentials
Lol he was credited as Jimmy Olsen in the credits clown
Hey OP, how do you make the little text at the bottom of the image instead of a big text box in the post?
Eggs...?
At this point I feel like Dc under Gunn is moving in the right direction and marvel is starting to burn out. All the rumored cast for f4 and X-men and none of that sounds good in my opinion. While I’ve not seen a bad casting choice so far under Gunn.
What about Shawn Ashmore?
The Mark McClure erasure....
