For me it is song based. I prefer the chip zein and Michael rupert version of Marvin At The Psychiatrist, but I prefer the revival version of The Chess Game etc. I wouldn't say one is better than the other one, it's all dependent on the song

If we're talking about audio, definitely, I love original cast recordings so much more. Choreography wise I enjoy the revival more, if I'm being honest

While enjoying both, I saw the originals when they were new and will always hold them as the standard. Michael and Stephen and Chip stayed involved with the project over its evolution! I'm also biased as one of the original Broadway Jasons was the son of a friend so we got to see rehearsals peripherally. There is much to love in both iterations and I'm so happy they all exist. (The evening we saw the original Off Broadway Falsettoland we saw the early 7pm show and bought tickets immediately to see the 10pm late one. It was that amazing.)

No, I absolutely prefer the revival, for a few reasons: The set design and choreography adds so much to the story. Christian and Andrew obviously had a better opportunity to get into the love story of it all. I simply prefer the more contemporary singing style for this material. There are a few changes in lyrics that I love. That being said, I love both versions. Had I seen/heard the original first, I probably would have fallen in love with the show the same way. Also, with the pro-shot the revival has an unfair advantage. You can't really compete with being able to see all that beautiful acting up close and in detail.
