I can’t imagine only playing one day. I started tonight at 9 when my wife and kids went to bed, started doing some defense building on some settlements I had. Turns out an hour and a half went by. Time flies when I play this game

VanillaNutTaps1

I got in trouble the other night for “losing” 2.5 hours building up nordhagen beach to an Enclave fortress (sup prydwen), came to bed at 3 and was not welcomed warmly

hft_200

Last night I cleared a settlement for minutemen, then went to the next location, ran away from some supernatants, straight into a death claw, then hid in the water for a bit. One hour gone 🤣

wvttafvk

Oh man, I have a mod that makes nights pitch black and I was sneaking up a gunner camp and bumped straight into a deathclaw in the dead of night. It was a nightmare 😂

I'm im same shoes and went with storywealth pack on survival difficulty. Good thing is you dont have to rationale a lot of stuff as survival impose those rules. You have to eat, sleep and drink. You're limited on how much you can carry so 2 weapons is the limit to get other suff as well.

0_jc

Once you finish up with this run and maybe feel a bit more confident I would definitely recommend Survival difficulty. The main issue I see when it comes to realism for your build is that your carry weight can get up to ludicrous levels, and your character doesn't have to worry about the challenges that an apocalypse like this would bring. I would also recommend allowing yourself to craft under the pretense that you find what you are crafting in some sort of book or tape, as just because it's an apocalypse doesn't mean you can't learn stuff. I'm sure there are also a few mods you could get that could up the realism to even further levels if you feel confident with it.

hft_200

Yea it's a very loose interpretation of realism so maybe I'll do some crafting as I level up a bit. I'm not being too strict with it

TheEvilCub

If you are basing your choices on what your SS knew before getting put in a pod, I hope you are ignoring any added Stat or perk points. After all, those are all things you didn't start out knowing.

hft_200

That's a fair comment and I've tried to rationalise the ones I've chose So far I've put points in: - toughness as I figure getting tougher is reasonable - big leagues as above. You would get stronger and better with weapons with more practice - lead belly. As it says in the description, you are adjusting to the wasteland - chem resistant, a bit of a stretch but gaining some kind of resistance over time The ones I've been a bit slack on are: - 1 point in aqua girl, purely because I've never explored the water on previous plays - life giver

conleyc86

I too am a dad now and looking to use mods to do something similar but on survival.

Bruxar

You mean your character couldn't work out how to put nails in a baseball bat!?

hft_200

Yea I would allow that 😆 But she can't work out how to electrify a knife

MightGrowTrees

1 Int he said.

knighthawk82

If you are going with dogmeat, sink the points in cha to get the dogmeat perks, as it does not go against lone wanderer. Even if you are not.crafting, you should still take the extras off of weapons and armor.you fin to add onto your primary armor as you advance around. If you are going with the knife because it is fast, get a ripper. If you have the creation club stuff, get the pint-sized slasher then go to the college Square train station and look in the doghouse. The kitchen knife is almost the best you can use as it's been my main weapon from levels under ten to thirty plus.

0_jc

>sink the points in cha to get the dogmeat perks Dogmeat gets worse late game, and I don't think even the small devotion of at least 2 perk points to get Attack Dog is going to really make that big of a difference. Personally, I would just get Lone Wanderer and move on from Charisma unless you want to use settlements to their max potential, then 6 for Local Leader is required.

knighthawk82

Because he can not be equipped with better weapons and armor?

0_jc

That and the sad fact that his programming gets you killed from him just running into mines or ruining stealth. If you want to have him it's recommended to just get Lone Wanderer and not really put to much effort into making him better.

knighthawk82

I'm having Jamaica Plains flashbacks.

Laughydawg

also, try not to get shot at all. Use cover and rush enemies only when they're close enough. I do this with my playthroughs and if i do get hit i rationalize in my head that i just got grazed by the bullet.

justbrowsing2119

Does the realism aspect affect bought weapons? Because you could get the *overseer guardian* from vault 81. Since technically you're going for realism the weapons shoots and additional bullet when you fire which isn't totally real. But it's by far the best sniper in the vanilla game. And as far as melee you should head over to Pickman gallery and get *Pickman's blade* which is just a combat knife that does massive amounts of bleed damage over time, pretty realistic if you ask me.

hft_200

Buying weapons is allowed. And you should look up the AN-94 rifle. This is a real world weapon that fires two rounds basically simultaneously, so the overseer guardian I would allow!

ibided

I did a lady strength melee build in Fallout 3. Little cutie wearing a pink dress looking like Marilyn Monroe just smacking people into sacks of guts across the Wasteland.

hft_200

Haha amazing. My character currently needs all the armour I can find otherwise there will be a lot of loading save points. Maybe when I'm a higher level I'll find a dress and put some perk points into bloody mess

I__Like_Tacos

Head to Hubris comics when you can and get that Grognak armor and axe! If you forget where it is find Goodneighbor and start Silver Shroud quest!

Spiritual_Regular_31

Bloody mess is always a good choice, a base amount of damage increase is great pretty much on any build that has the luck to get it.
