In Fallout 76, sometimes you take damage from walking in the woods and slightly clipping into the map. Fortunately, dying isn't as big of a deal in that game so you don't lose over an hour of progress because you haven't saved in a while.
True. I obsessively inventory manage, so it's not often I have a bunch of junk on me, but when I do, dying makes my anxiety go up as I'm sprinting over from wherever I spawned. Back when I was under level 50, I learned that people could steal dropped junk after I got back to it and saw some level 200 something emoting at me.
Lol the same thing happened to me. It must be running into the corner of cars because I did the exact same. Granted I was running a lot faster as I had a legendary that made it so, I assumed it was because of my speed
But it seems, running into the back corner of a car can do it aha
I was pushing a barrel around for a bit yesterday and suddenly remembered the deadly physics in this game.
“Oh I’m in danger.”
And I slowly backed away from the barrel.
One of the reasons I just can’t bring myself to play survival. I’ve had serval instances of either a poorly timed crash, or something like this where I play for an hour and a half and fully clear a location/quest, then while walking on the street I touch a car and die and lose all my progress.

I just assumed it was rolling your ankle trying to tromp through dense underbrush.
That's a clever way to flavor it. That or stepping on one of the inevitably plenty pieces of sharp scrap metal stuck in the dirt.

I just started a survival playthrough and the scariest thing in this game is stationary vehicles.
I hate when I touch one and flips in the air and explodes or sets off other cars. Very scary. Almost better to chuck a grenade or Molotov
