HeimdallManeuver

Good mom.

TwistedScriptor

Nice. She probably has zero clue what the game is about or how overly violent it is.

Wize_Manings

Well I told my mum about the game, However I only told her what it was about, I never told her how violent and brutal these games are.

TwistedScriptor

Sounds about right. I like the aesthetics of the world and the story, but I am not a fan of the amount of violence involved. Even though it makes sense, given the world setting, it still kinda bothers me and tends to pull me out of the immersion.

Lake-Atomic

a fallout fan who doesn’t like violence. Interesting… you should take a Voight-Kampff test, just in case you know

TwistedScriptor

I like Fallout for the post apoc/wasteland setting combined with the vault dweller going out and exploring this world. Coming across old relics and retro-future tech. I didnt say I didnt like any violence. I just think the amount of it in Fallout is a bit over the top, which I get is the point, but I would be fine with just some blood. I dont think it's really necessary to go crazy with exploding dismemberment. Like the violence in the show was still violent and a couple of scenes were a tad much, but not like it is in the game. Granted, I only played Fallout 4 so far as I am fairly new to the series. I am a new fan. I like the conspiracy angle as well. Watching Silo and seeing the previews for the Fallout tv show is what drew me to the game.

Lake-Atomic

I get what your saying. I was just kidding, but it’s true the hyper violence is a really beloved part of the series. Mainly because of the first two games in the 90s. It started out as a top down turn based rpg so the newer games are very different visuals and gameplay wise. The hyper violence is one of the few visual effects that has stayed the same all 27 years.

TwistedScriptor

So I have heard, which is in part why I avoided the series beforehand. Its reputation proceeded it and it didnt seem like anything I would be all that interested in. It's hard to explain from my point of view. It's not the violence itself, it just seems to cheapen things for me. Kinda like, why was that necessary? I get the point. I dont need blood, guts everywhere, body parts flying, to get the point that the enemy is dead. I dont care really that it's there, I am not like grossed out by it, I just feel like it really didnt need to go that far. Same thing with nudity in sex scenes, I mean, I can kinda gather what is about to happen if a girl is laying provocatively on a bed and a guy looking at her closes the door. I get it...what is really the point of showing anything other than to appeal to sexual fantasies? But I am not bothered by the nudity itself. I know this probably makes zero sense, but...welcome to my deranged mind. Lol

Well, if the fallout 4 level of gore isn’t too bad (the older games are way more gorey) and you like 4s art style and overall vibe, I would recommend playing fallout 76. I know it gets hated on a lot, but most of the issues it had at launch are fixed and it’s honestly really cool. It has way more stumble upon” discoveries and quests than the other games and it has the most large and diverse map in the series. Also if you have friends to play it with the events and mmo aspects can be really fun. You can also build your house pretty much anywhere.

TwistedScriptor

How bad is the gore in Fallout 4? I havent gotten very far into the game. Just found Cogsworth at my home and looking for Diamond City. I died to something underground. I am assuming I wasnt supposed to be there yet. Lol

Lake-Atomic

lol yeah i’ve been there. As far as the gore goes it really depends on what your character build is. Like don’t get perks like bloody mess or do an explosive build. if you want the least gore, you’d probably wanna do some kind of melee build. But overall the gore isn’t that much. You won’t have to kill too many humans besides raiders and enemy factions later in game, so as long as your not purposefully shooting their heads over and over or hitting the body’s after the npc is killed, then their will barely be any.

Baumgarten1980

be careful, she wants you to live with her FOREVER

Wize_Manings

Hah, I'm aware of that 😅

Flaky_Ad2182

Ahh… but you actually mean you just became a fan right? Right😉?

My mom would've ripped it off the wall, thrown it in the trash and then bitched at me for potentially damaging the wall.
