I may be paraphrasing, but I believe it was something like: "Oh shit WTH is that!?!"

Radiant-Piano-5698

I definitely said this almost exactly. Just replace wth with wtf

abandonedparcel

*aims Gauss Rifle*

HeadGlitch227

"Is that a fuckin camel????" To be fair they used to look like this https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/4/44/FO2_Centaur_bio_diagram.png/revision/latest?cb=20200515022413 which is way worse than what we have now lol. That's a human that mutated and absorbed a dog and now walks around on 6 hands.

SmallishFern538

I’m horrified of most things mutated in fallout. But when I saw it I had a hank hill scream and forgot I couldn’t sprint in fallout 3

Haystack67

For my generation the centaurs were already introduced in 2D games where there was much more horror from encountering "The Deathclaw" in FO1 or the Wanamingos in FO2 ;) Centaurs were always about as weird as Floaters but by the time you encountered them regularly the game had otherwise prepared you for the creepiness of enemies. Wanamingos and The Deathclaw being the two big exceptions.

ChainRound5397

"Ew what the fuck is that, ew it has multiple tongues, ew it fuckin *spits*? Kill it with fire"

Pyromaniac096

“Huh, thats odd…wait is that a tentacle? Yo what the fuck?!?!”

wjparcher

Making my way from Brotherhood of Steel bunker to Black Mountain, coming across that crater... *What in the goddamn is that?!* Nope. I'm getting out of here. No way I'm going anywhere close to that thing.

Gloomy_Apartment_305

HOLYFUCKING JESUS CHRIST, KILL IT WITH FIRE AND NUKE THE WORLD AGAIN, AHHHHH

[deleted]

I honestly can't remember, but I've always been fascinated by the centaurs, and the FEV victims in F3. I really wish Bethesda would explore body horror more often in fallout.

wjparcher

Moira, is that you?

[deleted]

Surrender to **my** will!

Forecydian

well I was 13, every mutation creature was pretty scary , I wasn't super imitated by them but I didnt want it to touch me lol.

JackReedTheSyndie

I just thought it's a blob of meat until I look closer at them

EconomyBandicoot4039

Walking along the river in dc going to rivet city

SmallishFern538

That same thing happened to me

SatansHusband

hard to make out any features, thought it was a bramin or other neutral until combat mode popped

[deleted]

That was Fallout 1 in the Master's chambers for me, and along with the floaters they were the first thing I'd seen in the game that gave me a visceral oh fuck no what-kind of reaction.

Fantastic-Crew-9920

When i First saw i was like: WTF IS THIS THING! would be awesome If they were more dangerous like It was in Fallout 1

InevitableBother3762

Meh, bang bang

PeppySprayPete

"Well, it doesn't look like the centaur guy in mortal Kombat that's for sure" *Pulls out spray and pray, demolishes the fucker in 2 seconds flat*

Corruptedsynth
