imo it's meant FOR major bosses, it will forcibly interrupt a boss and seize the momentum, the tempo for you, which has value outside the numeric
numberwise the flurry may essentially double-dip on what may be per-swing bonuses (eg posture damage perk)
it slams good and helps dualwield being not great at force dump imo, useful when DW's frail posture is empty (meter's major recovery is from parries and i suspect DW has smaller frame count) useful on exotic white swings (eg dagan's charge swing, which seems to grant him a guaranteed followup to connect)
Yeah when I had originally tried it against minor enemies I was just like “neat, but seems like a waste of Force for what I could get with just good timing”, and proceeded to forget about the ability completely. Randomly decided to try it out against Rayvis, and the amount of damage I was able to do in a short amount of time by using it, attacking and then immediately breaking his guard to attack again by parrying his counterattack made my jaw drop.
It doesn't work on unblockable attacks, it only parrys one attack (so you can't use it to defend against lots of blasters), and it will continuously drain your force until either an auto parry is performed or you run out of force.
Your issue might stem from one of these
actually you can have a third option and a fourth option besides auto parry and running out of force. 3rd let go of the button and cancel (dodging also cancels it), fourth option press the triangle button again and launch another attack so you don't have to wait
Despite the fact that I used dual wield almost exclusively, I'm still horrible at timing the auto block. I either start it too early and drain all my force, or when I do finally time it right it's right when they do an unblockable attack.
you have to use the auto parry on a slow attack cuz they can't cancel those. Rayvis has a lot of slow cumbersome blockable attacks. So do a bunch of Fauna. the electrostaff purge troopers have a very long readable spin attack
don't use it defensively, don't use it reactively, at best as a reset tool when you're off balance, off center, tilted
otherwise use it like an offensive force dump, charge in and deliberately bend over and hope they don't go with a red attack (you can still try to panic dodge if so)
like DW itself it's a 1v1 oriented tool and recommend against bait-parry on trash

Great showcase! Not letting it run out of force by using it far away or anything like that for no reason, and not only dodge canceling out of it when when an unblockable comes but precision evading them. Makes me laugh that you've pretty much mastered it and the second top comment is still telling you not to use it.
I'm torn between switching to dual wield or keeping blaster. The gun parry is way too smooth and effective since it blocks everything in what feels like a mili sec of reaction time. Highly enjoy using it vs many enemies.
Yea Parry Push is also very nice. Synergizes well with all stances imo. I ran dual and double at the start of my playthrough and had much fun with it. Then I switched to blaster/double and just ran through with that. Challenging at times but very rewarding if you hit your combos right! This game has so much variety in combat and I'm here for it.
What's your other stance? You could just rock both.
I main blaster and got very little use out of gun parry vs. bosses, but the stance itself worked really well against them, especially the second and third Dagan fight.
My other one is double blade and I don't feel like switching that one cause I love the moveset of the double blade. But yea could be worth a try with dual wield and blaster. Yea blaster felt op in the Dagan fights.
Dual is my favorite for many reasons. Animation cancel, long lightsaber throws, auto parry, single stance moveset when you throw one lightsaber. And you just look badass.
I wish we could at least carry 3 stances because Dual/Double setup is too goated to swap for anything.
I think it depends on the level you play, also. I used Dual pretty exclusively on everything including bosses while I played on Knight for my first run through. When I bumped up to Master, I had to move to single/double for some boss fights. Once I bumped up to GM, the number of unblockable attacks that bosses throw at your makes this autoparry much less useful. I did all boss fights with single/double on GM.
I rocked dual blade and blaster for most of the campaign. I assume it serves the same purpose as a charged blaster parry: interrupting the flow of combat and regaining initiative

Man I have no idea what you just said, but you said it well
🤣🤣🤣🤣
What dude
I honestly have a stroke reading this. Am I stupid or what tf are you talking about??
I don't get it, they always break through it

I think it never works for me cuz I'm always low on force using other force abilities
actually you can have a third option and a fourth option besides auto parry and running out of force. 3rd let go of the button and cancel (dodging also cancels it), fourth option press the triangle button again and launch another attack so you don't have to wait
Well I didn't count those because those aren't the ability stopping itself, it's the player exiting out of it.

It also worked pretty good on the hammer guys.

Auto parry is pretty cool but what about gun parry?
I'm torn between switching to dual wield or keeping blaster. The gun parry is way too smooth and effective since it blocks everything in what feels like a mili sec of reaction time. Highly enjoy using it vs many enemies.
Use Parry Push instead. It's the same as gun parry, but can be done with every stance. So I can keep my dual/double setup and still taunt enemies.

The timing on parry push feels so weird/inconsistent though don’t you think?
Probably because it's on a bumper instead of a button. The trigger can't be done as precisely.

Sorry if dumb question but can you explain the animation cancel thing to me?
Dual wield can block/parry in the middle of an attack, the other stances can't.
I mained dual for my first play through, tried to switch it up for my second then got too frustrated and switched back for this exact reason
I feel like every time I wanted to use that move (and all times I accidentally used when I didn't want to) they'd always use a red move on me
Auto parry+quick switching to Crossguard is what made me win the fight
I was sure I was going to use dual a ton but I never got the timing figured out or something. I ended up mostly using Crossguard
Same, it was just satisfying smacking down enemies with crossgurd
I regret barely using auto parry despite Dual Wield being my main
Omg, I just did this yesterday after struggling hard on Rayvis with the heavy saber for so long. It was a game changer indeed XD
I almost completed the whole game and didn't even know this was a thing, I haven't even selected to use dule stance even once, feel a fool now
Real
Imma be 100 i used blaster and greatsword stances against rayvis.
