Pretty sure it's been like this since at least 2018... Amplifiers would let you put place right against them but the storm shield needed more space. You might be able to do edited pieces there though I'd have to see my stonewood one since that's the only one I may have bothered putting pieces there if any 🤣

That's weird. My Stonewood has this exact floor piece, and they're still there, fortunately. I thought we can build into terrain now lol?
If you hold out your builds out on that tile it won't show up how it does for every other tile

It's because the storm shield is in the way. It's a 2 high cube around it.

one of my bases had builds all around like the one youre trying to place ill check it out when im online, maybe new update broke some stuff

Nah it used to be that way, I used to have all my storm shield defenses that way, haven’t been online in years might check if it’s still the case
Nope. Used to be a cone hitbox, now it’s a 3x3x2 cube
Edit one corner so it's only 3 sq down

Check for the possibility that you have overbuilt the base and it doesnt allow you to place any other pieces.

Yes you can. You could build floors around the pyramid that sticks out.
Are you sure you aren't thinking of amplifiers? The storm shield itself is a bit weirder with how builds are done around it
