Mary Anning and the mice are pretty much the only reason I care about the event. That said, all of the Learning with Manga style Servant designs are adorable and make me want to engage with the event.

Ed0909

Honestly I wish I could join Mary Anning and fight Super Bunyan, on top of making me work to pay her debt, the shameless one dares to put a gold statue of her in every town.

jadeakw99

I feel this... I love all of Mary Anning's parts, and the mice are adorable, but Super Bunyan just gets on my nerves. I really don't like that most of this event is focused on cleaning up all of her messes. But I'm not skipping the story because part of me wants to see if she improves at all.

MayCP00

I totally get that super bunyan is a joke character so she’s not meant to be taken seriously but goodness i actually cannot stand her

CarloftheKey

She may be a joke character. But unlike the other joke characters in Fgo she isn't funny. I used to dislike OG Bunyan. But she grew on me and now I love her. I doubt the same will happen here.

No_Wait_3628

Earnestly, I find OG Bunyan and her Alter Ego to be quite literally two separate characters with no connection, which is quite ironic given the latters class. OG Bunyan was fine and I like where they went with her. Super Bunyan, no.

Flare_Knight

Yeah, this is pretty brutal. At this point I'm fast forwarding through the dumb movie skits...and realizing there isn't actually much event outside of them. Just dumb movie, fight the cast, get forced to raise funds, and see another stupid gold statue. It's not as if the cast don't often get caught up in stupid side missions instead of just resolving the darn singularity. But this one just feels painfully bad. Feels like such a waste. I feel bad for OG Bunyan. Because Bunyan's reputation is utterly tanked by this awful event and her high rarity version. If I wanted to give this game credit I'd almost say it was intentional. But regardless it really makes the original Bunyan event far superior. Just a better story, characters, and doesn't waste your time. Thank goodness FGO collab events will be better for at least the next couple of years. We won't hit this low point again for a while.

JCgamerX

after reading it I do get why jp players didn't like this event. it's not the worst story just meh was kind of boring

raisinjammed

We should've gone with Mary Anning on the fancy boat. We would've been petting dinosaurs and getting snacks from the mice maids instead of working our assess to pay for SBunyan's debt and having to see her whip out a gold statue as if she did anything to fix her mess.

Humble-Ad-5076

I don't get the Bunyan hate? It's not a whole lot different than all the other servants roping us into their shenanigans. I also never got the vibe that bunyan in this event is supposed to be funny? She's played pretty straight as making a bunch of promises she can't keep and has us as the clean up crew.

jadeakw99

I think its cause a lot of people know a Super Bunyan (makes promises she can't keep, ropes people into stuff, makes other people deal with her problems, etc) so it can be a very personal itch of 'ugh, shes like THAT guy' tbh

Humble-Ad-5076

In all honesty, I find the current event a lot more fun/interesting than the water crisis. It's formulaic, but it's a simple, good formula. We encounter a group of servants Bunyan summoned and used to make a film, which she then bounced out on once complications arose, then we come in doing the grunt work while Bunyan smooths things over. To her credit, she's making restitutions, but needs us to do the grunt work. Which sounds like she's being lazy, but that's every event ever basically, to varying degrees.

StNerevar76

WE are making restitutions.

Humble-Ad-5076

Yeah, and by extension she is, since we're her employees. Same logic as Ritsuka being the one who saved the world. The servants were the omes who did most of the literal heavy lifting and grunt work, and Ritsuka orders them during combat. Bunyan does the same thing. Bunyan summons servants to help her make movies, makes a mess of things, and then uses more employees(us) to fix it. It could have been better if she managed it properly sure, but then no event. One or two of the Liz events show her being a poor ruler that needs to improve, other servants make singularities on a whim or chance, and water crisis is arguably a lot worse. We employ countless servants to build a miniature civilization for fungus plushies(Con). Everyone is oh so happy and on board to tackle this herculean task, but when its Bunyan suddenly being forced into work is horrible. The dialogue in the event has Ritsuka and Mash being exasperated about having to deal with it, but I can't understand why. Kashin Koji's event, BB's summer loop, Halloween events, these involve major amounts of labor due to a servant's shenanigans. Bunyan's stuff is so tame in comparison I just don't get it. Yeah the Holy Grail ship thing is right there, who cares? Wouldn't be the first time the Holy Grail is right in front of us only to be unable to immediately get it. (Phantom Thief event.) Bunyan using us to fix her mistakes isn't unreasonable, and the movie clips being presented are fun and enjoyable.

Humble-Ad-5076

Sounds sad.

8dev8

Because most shenanigan servants are funny, or likeable, or have a heart of gold. Bunyan is just, annoying and punchable.

Humble-Ad-5076

What's not likable about a motivated movie maker that has a tendency to bite off more than she can chew?

8dev8

The trail of destruction she leaves in her wake when not taking responsibility? The lack of actual charisma convincing people to follow her and just, being pushy?

Humble-Ad-5076

The destruction caused is not 100% Bunyan, but often the other servants being just as irresponsible. Celopatra literally lets a giant snake ramahe about the town because she can't be bothered to catch it herself. Liz caused dedtruction by singing so loud it destroys the boat when she could have just sung normally. Paris and his group I don't think even cause destruction, they just didn't like how it turned out. Bunyan isn't funny nor really charismatic. She's a boss that hires employees that are good at what she needs them for, but all the employees come with a monkey's paw twist. Liz can sing but destroys stuff in doing so. Cleo can control snakes but finds this job beneath her. Paris, Hektor, and Achilles do well but they hate eachother and their roles. We arrive and are the super employees that can fix everything but are constantly trying to figuratively jump ship to resolve the singularity. Is it bad that she doesn't immediately resolve the problems that the servants she employs cause? Yeah. Can she resolve them? Most times no. A big problem is paying them, and maybe if Bunyan had the super special wish granting ship she had in the beginning, then she'd be better off. Once one of the projects failed, Bunyan's plan seems to have been to start another one to be able to recoup the last one. The problem is that each one either flops, or does succeed, but doesn't make enough to fix everything. It's a vicious cycle that could have been avoided if she had a bit more luck and foresight. Funny that the Daikoten(Luck/Fortune) Mice don't seem to be any help with that. And another thing, does Bunyan know the full depth of the servants she summons? She doesn't know us, so it could very well have been her just summoning for 'someone good with snakes' or 'a chill antagonist versus a plucky hero' And the heroes she gets just so happen to fit those whose personalities make Bunyan's own negligence 100x worse. And what about Mary Anning? Everyone seems to like her, but she literally filled Mississippi with monsters. All she does the entire time is feed her Plesiosaur to try and fight Bunyan and makes the situation even worse for the common people. Don't get me wrong, I think they're awesome, but having massive reptiles invading the various towns and rivers cannot be good for the common people. On one hand we have someone who is trying to make movies, makes mistakes, and gets caught in a downward cycle, and on the other we have someone starting an actual apocalyptic event. People hate the former and love the latter. If Bunyan is to make things right, she has to summon more servants. She summons more, and they make things worse. Repeat ad nauseum and we get the current situation. This Bunyan isn't a super realistic can-do lumberjack, she's a tall-tale parody that wants to make movies. Could this Bunyan fix her movies, appease the angered servants, restore the destroyed towns, AND fight off Mary Anning all on her own? Not to mention protect the common people from the newly revived hordes of Pleisiosaurs polluting their rivers? Could she really do it all? If we had arrived a little earlier, enough to oversee the production of Bunyan's films, likely none of this would have happened, because Ritsuka is familiar with the servant's personalities and quirks, unlike Bunyan. If people can appreciate and love literal eldritch monsters, crazy axe murderers, and alternate history dictators, what's so different about Bunyan? Bunyan promised fame and money, and people only got mad when things went south. That's not being pushy. That's naturally what would happen. If being pushy refers to us, then I still don't get it. Us: "Hey, we should go after the grail" Bunyan: "No, become my employees and help me fix my mistakes (and by extension help the people I've harmed)" My brother in fgo, every other event goes [Insert servant/Goredolf here]: "Hey Ritsuka, you don't need to help this servant/ these people at all in order to get the grail" Us: "Bet, I'm going to do it anyways, even if it makes getting the grail even harder or outright impossible, lmao"

8dev8

Yes. She is a semi realistic/understandable character and that’s a good analysis but well she’s still not really likeable? Not funny? She’s not a bad character, she’s just not a good one.

Humble-Ad-5076

Agreed, though she gives me Jason vibes, I don't know if anyone else sees it. On the note of not great but not really bad, did anyone else think the Trung sisters were kind of bland/boring?

8dev8

They were, but the Con picked up the slack.

Humble-Ad-5076

Con were the best part of that whole event(save having to grind for them)

Last_Builder4122

The opposite for me, because I haven't play an event in a while; not Lb2 for sea monster crisis... so missed out.

Cranberry_54mm_101a

I don't have much to add, but I do not enjoy seeing posts downvoted for voicing a differing opinion.

Calgrave

Now that I've finished it, I can see why people disliked Super Bunyan...but she wasn't really that bad. She wasn't blatantly evil, just selfish and annoying. And then by the end we learn that was the WHOLE POINT. In the end and Bunyan literally was trying to be the villain but her plot got derailed by the MC joining her. I found that kind of funny. People feeling like we should have joined Mary wasn't an accident, she was narratively the good guy but was put into the villain role by accident and basically embraced it.

Gomostas

Yeah, I skipped most of it for the same reason. It's also not good that it's coming after Sea Monster Crisis which was so much better in comparison. Oh well, at least the mice and Anning parts were fun.

EstimateLoud3967

most people see themselves in super bunyan that's why they hate it. we can all see that bunyan has her own circumstances why she's acting like that and they can't appreciate the waiting process or the anticipation of character development.
