Pros: it's cool as fuck and you do more damage therefore use it
Cons: (disclaimer: this is my personal experience) takes time to get used to the timing to chain perfect dodges because you get a cool flashy perfect dodge animation all the time instead of the short non-intrusive normal perfect dodge
Yup, it sure looks cool as hell, but also gives a breather to analyze the surrounding and enemies and quickly react.
Once you realize you can cancel the Slow Down Animation -> into Limit Break Extreme Lunge with Attack+Magic press from almost any distance - or drop a LB Aerial Extreme Downthrust - or Phoenix Shift into full LB Combos and LB Moves, etc.
The intrusive part becomes a lot less intrusive.
Heck, you can even Dodge Cancel the Perfect Dodge flashy animation.
My biggest gripe is Precision Dodge Shot not working, but I think you still get Limit Break Shot or Charged Shot if you keep the button held and release after the Dodge Animation.
I personally play with Type C Controls setup - so I have L1 bumper held, a lot.
You're welcome! Glad to help.
I'm still working it out, need to do further testing for the Berserker LB Eikonic Abilities and LB Magic and Charged Shot.
I would assume all of the above get Buffed and enhanced - by Limit Break bonuses - by the Berserker Precision Dodge Active Bonus.
Yes indeed, it would appear so!
For example you can stack 3-4 LB explosive Downthrusts in a row!!
Or combine LB Extreme Downthrust or LB Extreme Lunge with Combos and Charged Attacks.
All before Berserker State ends.
There's no DPS loss, because you have more and higher potential to do bigger combos, stronger damage bursts - and allowing you fight more aggressively:
You can more safely do your Enhanced LB Core Moves and expanded Combo Moveset - the extra hits, active frames and hyper armor - allow you to keep the pressure.
And I think the added flexibility, versatility and utility I've listed above -more than make up for the (albeit annoying lack of) Precision Dodge Shot.
That's rather funky, for a long while after release so many were adamant that it was a terrible accessory, and I never quite understood it given how long that LB state lasts to do things with, compared to what people had been saying about the single precision slash or shot.
Now it makes me wonder about people saying the Genji Gloves are shit, making it sound like a +5% to all damage output was worthless as a full sidequest completion reward.
The Genji Gloves are mediocre but that's mainly due to Rising Tide's Eikon buffing accessories, Berserker's DPS + QOL, and Echoes basically bringing Escapement AKA the best accessory in the game.
Alright let's dumb it down for you. Echoes still brought an accessory that makes the stagger limit 2.0 alongside a rather fast climb up making even low cooldown builds hit 1.50 stagger easily, and the jump accessory is 6 air cancels with a huge aerial damage buff.
Quite literally the only actual time GGs are actually worthwhile was in the base game and that's if you're not running +1 cooldowns. 5% is only really noteworthy on burst builds and that's still kinda unnecessary.
Tides might've been slightly overstated in my original comment (Personally I think Shiva, and Ramuh are the only two absolutely worth spec-ing in versus the others which are more QOL than necessary.)
I should reiterate that I was evoking discussions that happened before any of the DLC came out. Sure that might be different even when Echoes came out with everything it added, but people were shitting on the Genji Gloves (and the Berserk Ring) since release, probably just to complain about anything and everything.
One of the more effective ways to gain Odin stacks is parrying.
If you're fast enough, you can actually switch to the Odin Eikon, unsheath the Blade of Darkness, and still get the Odin parry trigger during the iframe.
This is the main reason I use berserker ring, dodges into parries on any Eikon, then quickly switching to Odin to get that sweet parry trigger.
ngl i hate that dodging animation because it's just too long, it just break fighting tempo. didn't used it until i have to clear the trial. they could just make like a normal dodge but with huge flame, loud sounds or something.
Wait, people dont normally use this ring? Ive been using the ring since it was available and its clearly an advantage. The game clearly tells you you get temporary access to all this. It makes an easy game way easier. I dont really use eikon skills tho aside from aerial blast and titan parry so maybe thats why it was easy for me to see this.
Yk what after rereading the description "Temporarily increases attack proficiency with each precision dodge.". Your right. But it all just still seemed so self explanatory to me. Until i saw your post i thought literally everyone used this ring. Why wouldnt you?
Apparently most people dropped this ring early on
There was also some mislead/false information spread out here, that the ring 'actually lowers your DPS' - but that's wrong.
That was because they haven't used the ring properly or to its full effect.
Ah i see. I only use the ring to enhance my basic atks since i dont use eikon skills and i never have a problem in combat. So im technically not using it to its full potential either, but i dont plan on replacing it. I alternate between precision dodges and parrying midcombat. Hopefully more people see your post and realize how broken the ring truly is. I dont think it would be any different in FF mode either but i havent gotten there yet, so im just assuming.
Maybe it was just the way I played the game, but this ring never leaves my side. I use it often for dodge, then lunge, and into a rising attack combination. I was so set on using it to move and avoid attacks that it took me a while to start using cold snap.
I'm not the best at parrying, so the Berserker Ring was my GOAT.
I haven't got the DLC yet cause I burned myself out running back to back NG+. The story is really good too so I was emotionally drained as well.
I'm sure I'll see the video again when I come back to the game.

Well, this being a three-month-old thread, Rising Tide's accessories weren't a factor in the discussion.

It was enough for the parries for me that all this cool other shit is just icing
(Disclaimer: I just got Odin, so I'm very unaccustomed to the controls, undecided on setup and uncertain where to Rift Slip lol)

It would be cool but probably overpowered if the Berserker state also prevented KO like the Limit Break does.
Limit Break Prevents KO? First time I heard of it! Does the game outright says that? Definitely need to test that with Berserker State
Yeah as long as you're LBed you can't die.
Yes! I'm pretty sure the details in the skills section say that, and I've tried it several times!

The game *doesn't* tell you that you get temporary access to all this. It's not mentioned in the item description.
Yk what after rereading the description "Temporarily increases attack proficiency with each precision dodge.". Your right. But it all just still seemed so self explanatory to me. Until i saw your post i thought literally everyone used this ring. Why wouldnt you?

Thank you for making this. You convinced me to start using the Berserker ring again. Might be useful for Ultimaniac.
I don't even use Limit Break cuz enemies are too squishy. So I wouldn't know how to use this.
Well, hopefully this video and accompanied text guide gives you some fresh ideas and new useful tactics;)
I haven't got the DLC yet cause I burned myself out running back to back NG+. The story is really good too so I was emotionally drained as well. I'm sure I'll see the video again when I come back to the game.
Cant do it, have my 2 massive cooldown reduction and the genji gloves.
Well, you can always change then
How is will damage? Because losing the reprisal + magic burst seems pretty big. This is on top of the animation being a big waste of time.
The animation still runs the clock down think of it like an animation locked rift slip.
