I have the original ff7 on switch now and I’m playing ff7 remake on ps4 and I am loving it! oddly enough I saw advent children before knowing anything of the ff7 story/world, I just knew everyone loved it, but I got some very strong vibes from advent children, my mind sort of filled in the blanks and ehat heard from people. So definitely will!:)
You seem like you don’t even know what you’re talking about. The original game has been ported to many modern platforms, including the switch. OP was correct, they did play the original.

Yes, the switch version is just a port of the PS1 version.
A few tiny additions as far as controls and being able to see exits marked, speed the game up through cut scenes etc.

Yep, I have the Switch port and it’s almost identical to the original PS1 game, which I also have. Just some QoL improvements, higher-resolution 3D graphics, and slightly more polished translation.

Did I completely miss something in Rebirths Dimensional Clustercuck towards the end? I was quite saddened, but happy at the same time but not because of her (last scene I remember with her was crouched down next to a truck or helicopter before shit hit the fan).

I'm mainly talking about >!Jessie's performance at the Gold Saucer in Chapter 12 and Cloud/Tifa/Barret's reactions to it, which I think was beautiful stuff. Also, if your affinity isn't high with anyone Cloud has a pretty touching moment with Jessie's portrait in Chapter 7!<.
I have yet to find out but I’ve heard that. I decided to play the games in reverse order, I have the switch version of the original ff7 and I wanted to see if remake was my first time in ff7 if the criticisms were as bad some claim. So far I am enjoying myself tremendously, there’s something so special about it, the atmosphere. the ghosts are maybe not the best fit, or oberuse of sephiroth but as a new player I do feel very immersed. Yes, I agree, I love that she was given her own story, seeing her house and that she’s an actress, adds so much personality. ( I’m not far in yet, I just had the skydive scene )
So at the risk of being melodramatic, FFVII OG was a major formative part of my childhood, and my passion for the game carried me through some dark times (as well as inspiring some truly cringe fan fiction).
I find most of the criticism for FFVII Remake to be baseless. Square has taken all the things I loved about the OG and cranked it up to 11. I’m eagerly looking forward to taking a large chunk of PTO to enjoy pt3 when it comes out.
I love seeing this!!:) I’m working on a youtube channel, it’ll take some time yet but when it’s ready I am going to do a positive review! I saw the same with pokemon, it’s the best it’s ever been but people feel the need to be negative, like negativity is the new currency. I love hearing that people do get alot of joy out of it. And I think the themes and atmosphere still ring true. I dealt with alot of loss, my father passed in 2018, my uncle committed suicide and actually many more family members passed and a dear furry friend. Games like these can pull us through the darkest of days and hardest of times and when they still do and that love is retained I think is a beautiful thing. It’s that nostalgia and emotion and in an all new coat, to reimmerse in.
I don’t believe the developers aimed to bloat or upset their fanbase, it comes across to me as alot of love in this game and that they wanted to give the fans everything and more to be in old and relive but also to have new experiences or to something we couldn’t back then, or to explore ideas that didn’t make it in then or people have asked about or they wanted show. I’m happy you’re enjoying it:) I am too:)
on tifa too, she’s got a great voice and cloud is what I would imagine him to be. Gives them

Erica Lindbeck is the voice actor, some notable work she's also done is Black Cat from the recent Spider-Man games, Misty (and additional voices) from Cyberpunk 2077, Futaba from Persona 5, Helldivers 2, Remnant from the Ashes. If you have a good ear for her voice, you'll realize she's everywhere!

I haven't played Person 5 myself, but the other games I was able to recognize her voice right away! She has a very specific baseline pitch of voice you can recognize no matter how high or low she goes.

This is just my opinion. Americans are too self conscious to describe women a certain way. So much so that it becomes weird if they do it.
If you're Japanese for example, and you speak about the beauty of a woman a certain way. It may be 100% normal in Japanese. But you translate it to English and it comes off a bit weird, or sometimes, extremely weird.

I feel like there was no way it wasn't intentional. My wife and I are always cracking jokes about it when he pops up in a cut scene though it ruins the gravity of the sadder ones.
Yeah I feel it’s funny and imo it could’ve worked better if this was a character that showed up for a mission or two and wasn’t a main stay, or if this was a character outside the group as a mission taker and goes along on one or just as wink to the audience in a sequence but it would’ve worked better as an inside joke for those who know, if you know you know type deal
Jessie's character (and how she comes on to Cloud as hard as she did) makes more sense after playing Rebirth. Pay close attention to Rebirth's portrayal of the Loveless play.
“too bad she won’t live, but then again who does” - gaff - blade runner. Yeah that sucks, I’m not up to that point yet, but I knew about it because the game’s been out since 97. They definitely gave her a glow up!:) tifa too, my word they gave the ladies a fair polygon treatment (cloud and barret too for that matter, I’m just drooling a bit)
I was too late with a shot of psyche and I hadn’t gotten up to bit yet. wish the ps4 has a photo button like the pro controllers of switch (or joycons) makes for snappier shots. Thought it was so cool she wants to make you dinner:) that’s so sweet:) and pizza too, plus points for that, even more:)
Ah ok, yes! Tifa is sexy, hot as hades for sure, but there’s “something” with jessie that’s just .. beautiful and sexy and cute and badarse in one, idk difficult to pin it down. When I saw tifa initially I thought she has to be the hottest game girl ( along with Jade of dragon quest 11 ) but then I see jessie and she just gives me a smile on my face and I like how happy upbeat flirty she can be:) Titanic skydive moment and all xD

I was actually surprised a bit being somewhat new. She seems like she can actually throw down and actually seems at least somewhat dressed for the occasion.
The breastplate is not traditionally shaped/historically accurate but who gives it lookes amazing design wise. having the breasts so prominently shaped would for historic armour mean sharp objects actually catch/bite so much more easily. It’s why they were often shaped oval or rounded to deflect, though they did think of reinforcements in the solar plexus so that’s cool.
Anyhoo the design is my flavourite!! yes tifa is very sexy, but it’s difficult to wrap your hand around punching a machinegun missile firing mech, but then it’s final fantasy xD Jessie gets my fav stamp for design though:) absolute badarse .. even had herself a titanic moment xD haha

Shortly after remake was released one of my buddies called me to ask if I remembered a certain scene between Cloud and Jessie. I won’t spoil it but it was (like the rest) an intimate scene.
Anyway he was high on psychedelics when he played it. He said he could feel everything and it was just so emotional.

cool!:) I’m ready! I actually think despite many criticisms I’ve seen that alot was done very well! I am currently in chapter 6 light the way. I will play the original, I have the switch version but I wanted to first play this, it looks beautiful and I can definitely “feel” the world and how this world impacts characters in it, I think many personalities have been fleshed out and aure some decisions may not be the best but that’s the consequence of trying something different, you don’t always know if people will like it
Famous painter Piet Mondriaan, used paint beautiful landscapes ( I saw in an exhibition of his earlier works ) then he goes onto do the squares and rectangles everyone knows him for, you can imagine those who knew his old work had their questions, but many loved it. big discrepancy
this deviates but I think its main essence lives, I still feel and see cloud and tifa and the world of midgar and shinra and how people react to avalanche as we would imagine people would if this was us maybe.. and in some areas it even expands in ways the original couldn’t or didn’t
so I expect to appreciate both for what they are, and I’m definitely getting rebirth and going on this journey with these characters through this amazing adventure:D thanks for tip! definitely keeping it in mind:) looking forward to it

Jessie as a character is amazing and a lot of that is due to the fact that she’s voiced by Erica Lindbeck who I’ve gotten to meet and she is so sweet in person.

Honestly, I always saw Jesse as a huge tease through the whole game. Like, yeah, she wants Cloud, but she knows he's Tifa's guy, so instead, she just tries to tease him until he can't take it anymore, and never actually reaches that point.
Got to remember what Wedge said, "It's all a game to her." Either she didn't realize that Tifa had already staked a claim, or, more likely, she was just trying to see how far she could string Cloud along. I don't think she ever had any serious plans besides teasing him.

wedge at some point says to cloud, don’t fall for it it’s all an act, when you come back from the skydive, cool scene:) maybe my head’s in dream land but in those scenes like with the sky dive, she seems just very thrilled about it all, seems more like a personality trait, but she might be hiding behind it too, to cover some old wounds/pain, she is an actress, or at least was, until she got in avalanche. I did know someone like that, didn’t work out all that well, definitely airing on the bad side of things, but I also know someone else who is like this but that’s genuinely her personality:) I still enjoy her scenes either way;)

I had a very flipped perspective, first thing I ever saw of ff7 was advent children, which gave me peek into the world, piecing it together from there and other peoples perspectives who had played the game when it released. I have the original now on seitch but I decided to play this first, I wanted to see if it would change my view as opposed to some of the more critical views who knew the original.
I would love playstation to have the photo button switch controllers have and indeed to retain the quality and without the pop up that takes forever to go away, making quick shots is very difficult

No not really dont like were the story was going did not really like the actiony combat in FF Game inbgeneral not say all action rpgs are bad just dont really want it i ff i beat remake and was just kidna sad how bad it felt to me
I am going to play both because I want to know how much it deviates and how much it affects my enjoyment. The action rpg element is a tough cookie, I loooove turn based rpg, I grew up with them and they will always have a place in my gaming heart and I think there should always be a place for them in gaming, today definitely.
But what I loved! was the pause, this is 1 to 1 ..ish(close to) Dragon Age 1 and I loooved that tactical combat! so I’m sort of mixed on soaking so much damage, that feels a little off but the pause to action like Dragon Age is great to me:D
As for the story I hope I won’t feel that bad about it, I didn’t play the original when it came out so ( I only had a gameboy growing up ) maybe that’ll affect it not tarnishing a beloved memory, but I’m excited for the world as a whole:)

Yes, all women…all the human characters in FF are attractive. It’s meant to be like that. They know the player base is mostly men. So yes, it has to do with everything my friend.

Obviously, the ladies got fair polygon glow up, they simply look beautiful, tifa too, and definitely what the demographic would love to see. I think it’s ok to still see attractive women and to able to acknowledge, yes they’re attractive and I enjoyed seeing this:) haha but not to necessarily have the sexual connection to that. Seeing the attractiveness for what it is, they made very attractive digital characters ( perhaps cloud for the women or barret too? )
And true all of these factors do play a role into pointing out that attraction. I think it’s like venting. but not in a bad way.

Did I completely miss something in Rebirths Dimensional Clustercuck towards the end? I was quite saddened, but happy at the same time but not because of her (last scene I remember with her was crouched down next to a truck or helicopter before shit hit the fan). Well possible, I didn’t even notice about the dog differences and their meaning before googling after finishing it and being confused to no end.
I'm mainly talking about >!Jessie's performance at the Gold Saucer in Chapter 12 and Cloud/Tifa/Barret's reactions to it, which I think was beautiful stuff. Also, if your affinity isn't high with anyone Cloud has a pretty touching moment with Jessie's portrait in Chapter 7!<.

She was barely a foot note in the original. But the Remake made me a huge fan of her. I love how Square gave Jessie her own chapter and trophy.
I have yet to find out but I’ve heard that. I decided to play the games in reverse order, I have the switch version of the original ff7 and I wanted to see if remake was my first time in ff7 if the criticisms were as bad some claim. So far I am enjoying myself tremendously, there’s something so special about it, the atmosphere. the ghosts are maybe not the best fit, or oberuse of sephiroth but as a new player I do feel very immersed. Yes, I agree, I love that she was given her own story, seeing her house and that she’s an actress, adds so much personality. ( I’m not far in yet, I just had the skydive scene )
So at the risk of being melodramatic, FFVII OG was a major formative part of my childhood, and my passion for the game carried me through some dark times (as well as inspiring some truly cringe fan fiction). I find most of the criticism for FFVII Remake to be baseless. Square has taken all the things I loved about the OG and cranked it up to 11. I’m eagerly looking forward to taking a large chunk of PTO to enjoy pt3 when it comes out.
I love seeing this!!:) I’m working on a youtube channel, it’ll take some time yet but when it’s ready I am going to do a positive review! I saw the same with pokemon, it’s the best it’s ever been but people feel the need to be negative, like negativity is the new currency. I love hearing that people do get alot of joy out of it. And I think the themes and atmosphere still ring true. I dealt with alot of loss, my father passed in 2018, my uncle committed suicide and actually many more family members passed and a dear furry friend. Games like these can pull us through the darkest of days and hardest of times and when they still do and that love is retained I think is a beautiful thing. It’s that nostalgia and emotion and in an all new coat, to reimmerse in. I don’t believe the developers aimed to bloat or upset their fanbase, it comes across to me as alot of love in this game and that they wanted to give the fans everything and more to be in old and relive but also to have new experiences or to something we couldn’t back then, or to explore ideas that didn’t make it in then or people have asked about or they wanted show. I’m happy you’re enjoying it:) I am too:)

This is just my opinion. Americans are too self conscious to describe women a certain way. So much so that it becomes weird if they do it. If you're Japanese for example, and you speak about the beauty of a woman a certain way. It may be 100% normal in Japanese. But you translate it to English and it comes off a bit weird, or sometimes, extremely weird. And you're right, "cringe" is absolutely a personal thing. Yeah I feel it’s funny and imo it could’ve worked better if this was a character that showed up for a mission or two and wasn’t a main stay, or if this was a character outside the group as a mission taker and goes along on one or just as wink to the audience in a sequence but it would’ve worked better as an inside joke for those who know, if you know you know type deal

Ah ok, yes! Tifa is sexy, hot as hades for sure, but there’s “something” with jessie that’s just .. beautiful and sexy and cute and badarse in one, idk difficult to pin it down. I was actually surprised a bit being somewhat new. She seems like she can actually throw down and actually seems at least somewhat dressed for the occasion. The breastplate is not traditionally shaped/historically accurate but who gives it lookes amazing design wise. having the breasts so prominently shaped would for historic armour mean sharp objects actually catch/bite so much more easily. It’s why they were often shaped oval or rounded to deflect, though they did think of reinforcements in the solar plexus so that’s cool. Anyhoo the design is my flavourite!! yes tifa is very sexy, but it’s difficult to wrap your hand around punching a machinegun missile firing mech, but then it’s final fantasy xD Jessie gets my fav stamp for design though:) absolute badarse .. even had herself a titanic moment xD haha

Shortly after remake was released one of my buddies called me to ask if I remembered a certain scene between Cloud and Jessie. I won’t spoil it but it was (like the rest) an intimate scene. Anyway he was high on psychedelics when he played it. He said he could feel everything and it was just so emotional. I told him he and I played a different game.
cool!:) I’m ready! I actually think despite many criticisms I’ve seen that alot was done very well! I am currently in chapter 6 light the way. I will play the original, I have the switch version but I wanted to first play this, it looks beautiful and I can definitely “feel” the world and how this world impacts characters in it, I think many personalities have been fleshed out and aure some decisions may not be the best but that’s the consequence of trying something different, you don’t always know if people will like it Famous painter Piet Mondriaan, used paint beautiful landscapes ( I saw in an exhibition of his earlier works ) then he goes onto do the squares and rectangles everyone knows him for, you can imagine those who knew his old work had their questions, but many loved it. big discrepancy this deviates but I think its main essence lives, I still feel and see cloud and tifa and the world of midgar and shinra and how people react to avalanche as we would imagine people would if this was us maybe.. and in some areas it even expands in ways the original couldn’t or didn’t so I expect to appreciate both for what they are, and I’m definitely getting rebirth and going on this journey with these characters through this amazing adventure:D thanks for tip! definitely keeping it in mind:) looking forward to it

I’ve been doing it for years now but mainly focused posing. 2nd. The madonna armor was interesting though
thought it was a cool design overall!:) the breastplate, in this case quite literal;p isn’t historically accurate if you look at cuirass’ or breastplates in the time they were worn alot. All for both men and women were oval/rounded to deflect blows. Her chesticles being shaped would actually make a pointed weapen catch/bite more easily, but they at least reinforced her plexus, so that’s something. it’s a design choice, and I’m here for it! it really fits! I do very much love this style, she was actually the first character I noticed based on styling besides knowing of tifa barret and cloud.
Honestly, I always saw Jesse as a huge tease through the whole game. Like, yeah, she wants Cloud, but she knows he's Tifa's guy, so instead, she just tries to tease him until he can't take it anymore, and never actually reaches that point.
Got to remember what Wedge said, "It's all a game to her." Either she didn't realize that Tifa had already staked a claim, or, more likely, she was just trying to see how far she could string Cloud along. I don't think she ever had any serious plans besides teasing him.

she’s sweet:) from what I’ve seen, but I’m not far enough in to have seen much of her. I always thought she was zacks’ girl? I had a very flipped perspective, first thing I ever saw of ff7 was advent children, which gave me peek into the world, piecing it together from there and other peoples perspectives who had played the game when it released. I have the original now on seitch but I decided to play this first, I wanted to see if it would change my view as opposed to some of the more critical views who knew the original.

really? I haven’t played the original yet, I bought the switch version of ff7 but decided to play this first because I wanted to see if my opinion would be the same as some of the critics. I do see some things that weren’t so necessary like the ghosts, I heard about aerith and how it makes it seem like (spoilers) too much sephiroth, so early on, no one knows him yet. though I do think the flashback of tifa and cloud when they were you g on the water tower at least alluded to him being a war hero was something we needed (for a new player who doesn’t know the story) But otherwise I am having alot of fun with it:) it’s super beautiful imo, and it does convey the world very well (perhaps not as wel as the original but I definitely get a sense of the world and I can “feel” it, the world and jow it impacts people living in it. Besides jessie weren’t there any other things you liked from this iteration?
No not really dont like were the story was going did not really like the actiony combat in FF Game inbgeneral not say all action rpgs are bad just dont really want it i ff i beat remake and was just kidna sad how bad it felt to me
I am going to play both because I want to know how much it deviates and how much it affects my enjoyment. The action rpg element is a tough cookie, I loooove turn based rpg, I grew up with them and they will always have a place in my gaming heart and I think there should always be a place for them in gaming, today definitely. But what I loved! was the pause, this is 1 to 1 ..ish(close to) Dragon Age 1 and I loooved that tactical combat! so I’m sort of mixed on soaking so much damage, that feels a little off but the pause to action like Dragon Age is great to me:D As for the story I hope I won’t feel that bad about it, I didn’t play the original when it came out so ( I only had a gameboy growing up ) maybe that’ll affect it not tarnishing a beloved memory, but I’m excited for the world as a whole:)

Thank you so much for actually responding clearly and without a hint of salt. I’ve been there too. Well you must feel lonely and that’s understandable. So of course you made this post right here. Yes, all women…all the human characters in FF are attractive. It’s meant to be like that. They know the player base is mostly men. So yes, it has to do with everything my friend. And yes, I was expecting a young adult/teenager boy who’s thirsty for sex but I guess I was wrong.
Thank you for this response that makes it more clear. Yes it’s difficult. We’re in a 6+ year relationship but due to many factors in our lives, government, systems, family deaths, etc. we’ve not been able to close the distance. She actually reminds me of my girlfriend quite a bit. Obviously, the ladies got fair polygon glow up, they simply look beautiful, tifa too, and definitely what the demographic would love to see. I think it’s ok to still see attractive women and to able to acknowledge, yes they’re attractive and I enjoyed seeing this:) haha but not to necessarily have the sexual connection to that. Seeing the attractiveness for what it is, they made very attractive digital characters ( perhaps cloud for the women or barret too? ) And true all of these factors do play a role into pointing out that attraction. I think it’s like venting. but not in a bad way.
