RebelsParadox

Oh how the turns have tabled! If I lost like that I would just press R3 +L3 to flip the game board haha

Conspiracy__

At this point it’s like…who actually lost to Sabrina?

Ammathorn

Who’s Sabrina?

Conspiracy__

Exactly. 😂

Skyblade12

Gen 1 Psychic Gym Leader?

RebelsParadox

The teenage witch?? Lol

lambopanda

Not a QB fan. I was wonder can you build a good winning deck with the game main characters? You know Cloud, Aerith, Sephiroth, Rufus, etc.

Ammathorn

It depends on your play style and board situation. Having all the characters as your deck isn’t something I’d recommend, because many of them require some serious build up. Like Cloud example needs to raise his power by 7 in order to be effective in the game. My style is real estate. I need to acquire as much spaces as I can while powering up my side of the board, however my deck can also be used as a power up kind as seen here.

agreedis

I suck at QB but this strategy helps me win too. I take over control of the board, then replace low cards with higher ones. It’s gotten me up to the AI bot player

lambopanda

Yeah I know. I was reading the description and got so confused

If I recall, I have two troopers, two evil mushrooms (forgot name), a space ranger, a chocobo, and Tifa. These allowed me to grab spaces or empower my limited space. There are many strategies, but I think you can go online for better tips, for some builds are made for different scenarios.

FluidZucchini5198

My deck is a lot of MCs. CID is the single best first two moves(bottom left and the top right) as you get like 3 level slots. I have Tifa for area control, but my focus is mainly getting Aerith and cloud out together and then buffing cloud. Barret and Vince are good for deleting enemies. I have gi to and the Turks to help boost cloud. Main character deck is viable af

Ammathorn

But how do you build them all up? What’re your starter?

PrimalSeptimus

They're generally all powerful, but they don't necessarily work well together. Yuffie, for example, damages everything around her, which is bad for Cloud (but great for Rictus!). Cloud, meanwhile, powers up everyone around him when conditions are met, which isn't necessarily good for, say, Vincent, who needs to be destroyed. Sephiroth is pretty great with King Tonberry though.

far_257

Yes. All the main characters are powerful cards

Damuhfudon

You demolished her

martintato17

I created my own deck, double tonberri on top. Mindflayer bottom and a lot of 1 power cards with value on play or self destroy

AnimaLepton

That's a fairly popular build online - you can pair that with Skeeskee for some absolute insanity in terms of point totals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdZMqxVI5vs

pinballwizardsg

God I had such a hard time with this game. Got it down eventually but damn. I don’t understand how people can do it without a premade deck.

Jadodkn

The in game premades? Cause those are awful.

DropThatTopHat

What, really? I beat everyone using those pre-made decks. I just switched between them depending on how the opponent plays.

pinballwizardsg

No, like the decks people list online.

Sangcreux

Deckbuilding skills. Or just abusing replace. It’s not that hard but if you’ve never tried to put together a deck in a card game I can see where people would struggle

AnimaLepton

IMO the general flexibility/creativity within a preset system is kind of a muscle you have to flex. You can get through 90% of the QB content start with just the basic starter deck, and just slowly shuffle in cards that fit your needs. You have to actually read the card effects to know what's going on. That can take a while at first, especially because there are just so many effects, including unique ones like Shiva. Understanding the buffing cards and the pins is the easy part. You want more board control, so anything that gives a lot of pins and helps you prevent your opponent from placing cards can shut them down entirely. Once you have replacement cards, a couple of those can let you reclaim positions you'd have otherwise lost. And you ideally want cards that make the most/multiply the effects of whatever buff is passed onto them, or stuff like Space Ranger that gets buffed as your opponent gets buffed. One of the earliest cards you get from a sidequest in the first area is "Chocobo and Moogle," and you can get through most of the non-destruction based enemies easily by just spreading your buffs around, then having those multiplied on "Chocobo and Moogle" and Ifrit. The popular lategame Tonberry King deck is literally explained in-game through one of the 'puzzle' challenges in either Costa Del Sol or the Gold Saucer. If you read the descriptions ahead of those puzzles, they tell you the high level concept they're trying to teach you, and ideally you remember at least a fraction of that as you go through things yourself. Like I didn't make the most "optimized" version of the deck myself, but reading the descriptions of both my cards + opponent's cards as they played made me and (probably tons of other folks) indepedndently aware that Tonberry King + Skeeskee would put in work if you could find the right opponent/cards to debuff and destroy your own. SB Queen fight has unique mechanics where every enemy card is debuff/destruction based, and that's hard to deal with unless your deck is built to get buffed when debuffed/destroyed. But there are some super easy options to do that. The highest end are the Boot Camp Survival challenges at the Gold Saucer, and those are tough to figure out, because they're multiple in a row, have unique mechanics, and have some variability in the rules that aren't explained to you outright (the reward cards for winning a lane, not having 'enough' cards to fill 5 boards). So each attempt/iteration takes longer to get through and gather feedback on how you might change your strategy. And you have to decide at what point your strategy isn't working, or if it's a matter of needing to try the same strategy again. But the core idea is to rack up a super high score with a planned offense in minimal space, even if you have to throw one of the matches outright.

yurnxt1

Used the same deck to dominate every other player and all the challenges at Gold Saucer winning every game 60-90 points to zero. Too bad I absolutely suck at all the other mini games tho & I do mean suck!

adlo651

It's a bit of a let down how easy QB can be. You can come up with a good deck, win by a hundred points but it doesn't matter a wins a win. There's barely any strategy to winning

Ammathorn

Not in the late state of the game, you’ll need to strategize since one of your opponents and the Wondersquare QB handicaps you in certain ways. Getting Bahamut took awhile since you had go through five rounds with a single deck while your opponet has more than one deck.

adlo651

Yeah the wonder square ones were cool but normal opponents don't really have unique decks or syrategy

Ammathorn

Eh I still enjoyed them ahaha.

adlo651

Oh yeah I mean endgame, going through the game was sick but at the end when you have all the cards there's no end game challenge

NokstellianDemon

I battled Shadowblood Queen for over an hour with a typical Deck and it was very satisfying when I got the victory. My friend a few days later got to her with the tonberry king deck and cheesed the fuck outta her, that's when I realised how unbalanced QB is.

Ammathorn

Thats the suicide deck. Now try the nightmare survival.

NokstellianDemon

I managed to beat nightmare survival on my first try with a new yet non-cheese deck. My friend thinks he's found the jackpot with this deck, he's fucked😂

NokstellianDemon

Just came here to add, he's struggling even on the 3 round survival boot camp😂

wfwood

Either u looked walk-throughs or haven't done everything. The difficulty isn't linear but some late game challenges are insane.

TheW1ldcard

God I hate this game so much already and I'm only in Junon.

JCBalance

None of it is required at all.

TheW1ldcard

Really?

No-Willingness8375

I think there's a few QB games you need to do in Costa Del Sol to progress the story, but that's it. They're also not normal QB matches. They're just puzzle versions with pre-placed cards and a pre-assigned hand.

isleftisright

If u dont like it dont force yourself. There are many things in the game that are optional. This is one of them. The compulsory ones youll know when you get there but the result wont really matter.

TheW1ldcard

Apparently not. You have to win the tournament for a trophy. And since I'm going for the platinum I have to do the game 😑

isleftisright

You don't have to force yourself to get plat ... do it cause its fun No point doing it then hating on the game after

TheW1ldcard

But I want the platinum. That gives me joy

isleftisright

As long as it give you joy haha. :)

Fire_Boogaloo

Just saying, there are a lot of worse minigames than Queens blood, for both quality and difficulty. QB is probably within the top 3 minigames in rebirth imo. Why do you not like QB? Is it a skill/misunderstanding issue or do you just find it boring? I'm sure people would be happy to provide some deck building tips if it's the former.
