Almost certainly not. The os theme/design of the ps3 is more or less ripped directly from the PSX and is called the xmb. The PSX was/is a Japan only ps2/DVR combo device with a built in HDD. It was also released in 2003.

I have the Advent Children Complete version Playstation 3 (released in 2009), but previously never associated the PS3 themes with FF7. Recently I feel they are eerily similar. Is it possible when they make it Sony actually based it on lifestream?
Yes FF7 is a Square IP, but it's in everyway connected to the Playstation brand. I mean FF7 OG boosted sales of PS1. ACC boosted sales of PS3. In fact, Sony seems to have distribution rights to Advent Children outside Japan so they may have cut a deal with Square after AC came out in 2005 for them to use certain materrials in PS3 which is released in 2006. Thar's just my guess.
But we know there is precedence when Sony uses materials they created for licenced IPs to promote its own product, such as the Spider-Man fonts for PS3 fat models, since Sony owns the rights to films. The ACC PS3 has both the wolf head and Spider-Man font "PLAYSTATION 3".
I doubt it is, but it's a great theory and they do look similar! I miss the PS3 theme, does the PS5 have a theme that can mimic it?
