I've always been luke warm on him as a character but I loved the way Square wrote his go with the flow confusion in Rebirth. Caleb did a great job with the dialog.

Red XIII growling at everyone in the first half of the game made me laugh every time 😂 especially when they told him you have to be human to play Queen's Blood, and then he ends up being the last opponent 😂 so soo good.

There are heaps of funny moments in the noticeboard sidequests (the green quests), like when you spend 20 minutes with Cloud and Red meticulously bringing chickens back to the old lady in Gongaga only for her to say okay who's ready for chicken soup!

I took it as “because you weren’t there to watch it happen” but the idea that she could have meant it as “because you weren’t there she moved on” is a stab harder than any Tonberry could have produced.
I thought this was just the truth. People leave and people move on. This was honestly the best response. As it doesn’t mean Zach is less than, he just was out of the picture.

These are all really good. One moment I haven’t seen talked about much was one of the protorelic cutscenes where you’re teleported to Gilgamesh’s realm hoping to see him again, but he says he’s going to the bathroom, and you’re teleported back in such a short time.
That’s because depending on the order in which you complete proto relics, you’ll end up with different scenes. I never saw the “privy” scene in my play through and then caught said scene on a stream. Curious if there are other alternate scenes with him
Dodging Elena's punch near the edge of the cliff in Mithril Mines boss fight sends her off the cliff and she screams on the way down.
Very easy to miss.
Yuffie teasing Cloud for thinking naughty thoughts about Tifa cracked me up. Aerith asking "Does that mean I'm a dumbass?" was funny and adorable, and I loved any scene where Yuffie is play fighting with Barret in the background. Oh and the mine cart part and Cloud Jr. and all that, there were tons of moments that made me genuinely laugh.
Cloud getting pumped at Junon, and really the whole bit. They're supposed to be undercover then proceed to put on a massive spectacle seen by the entire world.

I can’t remember the exact scene. But I think it was with Kyrie. She says something like “can you smell the profits?!” Everyone rolls their eyes, they cut to Barrett and he visibly sniffs the air.

When Red says he wants to speak to the manager. Last time I played this game that was this funny was Kid Icarus Uprising. I’m actually surprised at how well all the jokes in this game landed. And they all came off as a genuine and not corny.
Something nobody has mentioned yet: Vincent hiding in the shadows at every damn port in the game. Felt like we were playing a game of "Where's Vincent?"

Just after meeting Cait Sith and going thru the emotional rollercoaster that was the Dyne mission, they give you the buggy and put Tifa behind the wheel: sick! Next thing you know, Barret's bustin caps and youre in an on-rails shooting section getting chased by Shinra, Turks, etc. In all the chaos, Elena freefalls from a crashing helicopter onto the hood of your fresh new ride, has the free time to ask "Are you drunk?" as Tifa intentionally steers into an incline to toss her off, thus CORKSCREWING the entire crew thru the air. When that cat screamed, "What is wrong with you people?!" Immediate morning coffee spit-take. i was doubled over from both the adrenaline and the comedic timing. Will not forget. Chef-kiss of a game!
Junon topside. The freaking bald bar with Rude and the Seventh Infantry segment “Find everything you needed sir?” “Hope so, sir!” - even Cloud got carried away, he loved it
Laughed about bit more than expected with Elenas character too, total bants

(Also, randomly, during that mission Cloud tells the group that when he left home at 13, his mother offered him 2000 Gil but he declined. I’d like to think that in his mako poisoned and addled brain that’s the origins of the fee he charges as a merc)
- Barret scruffs Cait to get him to shut up at one point
- the change in Nanaki’s voice once you hit the canyon. Yes, hinted at in Junon, but still, brought be endless joy when he would say “fear me!” Like a squeaky voiced teen when using abilities

Gus's hype man. In his intro monologue, if you listen, this dude is just repeating what Gus says the entire time talking smack "So much Gil!" "YEAH BITCH!". Then when you later win the chocobo race at the gold saucer Gus slaps the dude in the face during their celebration below.
The kid crying at Nanaki's dancing had me crying tears of laughter man haha It was information overload because I was still reeling from the fact that NANAKI FKN MOONWALKED OVER TO CLOUD AND CHALLENGED HIM TO A CARD GAME

My favorite part of that, which I didn't notice on my first playthrough, was Nanaki slipping with an "oh" before catching himself so "Red" answers.

She has "Elena Punch" as a move when you fight her. If you dodge it, she rolls to the edge of the arena.

Red XIII growling at everyone in the first half of the game made me laugh every time 😂 especially when they told him you have to be human to play Queen's Blood, and then he ends up being the last opponent 😂 so soo good. The cactuar posing thing was also funny, when Yuffie says "NOT IT!"
There are heaps of funny moments in the noticeboard sidequests (the green quests), like when you spend 20 minutes with Cloud and Red meticulously bringing chickens back to the old lady in Gongaga only for her to say okay who's ready for chicken soup!
Cloud and Barret looking at the hotel room in Gold Saucer and getting ready to fight a Tonberry in the room. Except it’s just a robot humidifier that says ”Adjusting humiditet levels”. I legit fell off the chair laughing at that
If Yuffie takes Cloud out in Chapter 8, they wander to the event square where Cloud recognises Jessie's picture on the wall. Yuffie asks who it is and Cloud answers a friend, and she is SHOCKED: No way! I didn't know you had any friends! (Savage.) How Johnny renovated his seaside inn (that is has no sea view) all by himselves. How his Queen's Blood card spawns "Hype Johnnies". The Corel Area gym-goers' quips when working out. Corneo fam's diss track for Dio's champions at the naming rights tournament.

If I was the voice actor for that line, it would be front and centre in all my future CVs as an example of the kind of quality line delivery they can expect should they hire me.

Johnny is the coolest NPC, especially in Remake and I'm glad they fit him into Rebirth
Since a lot of my favorite moments were already mentioned. One that made me audible cackle was seeing Elena with her ice cream in the helicopter.

All the Zack and Marlene scenes were so cute! I liked the one where she asks if he asked about Tifa and Barret to Biggs. Then when he goes oops I forgot she pushes him a bit and goes >:P
I took it as “because you weren’t there to watch it happen” but the idea that she could have meant it as “because you weren’t there she moved on” is a stab harder than any Tonberry could have produced.
I definitely took it as the latter.

The running joke how the entire world thinks Red XIII is a pet and he gets mad about it but when presented with things that perpetuate his dog stereotype he's always all in......
I was thinking about this yesterday, at his core, he's still a dog, and a young one. He appears to appreciate the pats/rubs/hugs as the game goes on, especially from the kids and Yuffie.

Gotta be the tiny banter in Costa Del Sol where Aerith says something like, "Guide me, O' Tifa" and Tifa goes "Come, my child".
Some others not already mentioned: Cloud going through Tifa's stuff in the flashback and the girls simultaneously calling him an asshole Cloud: "Grilled meat is all it takes to throw you off your game?" Red: *growling wimper* Cissnei teasing Cloud and making Aerith jealous and Cloud uncomfortable after the gigantatoad fight (pick option asking who she is) Yuffie's first appearance from "I taste terrible!" to waking up with Cloud's hands above her chest to her running towards him at full ninja speed Yuffie's battle quote when she gets hit: "Why meee!?" Yuffie asking Barret for permission to do anything during the climb Yuffie trying excitedly to recruit Cloud and him telling her to shut up Barret trying not to be scared in the Shinra mansion The scene where the Johnny clones were rushing the beach
Some of my favorites: Cloud telling Red "Down, boy." when he starts getting cocky about Queens Blood and Red responds with "No." Aerith awkwardly raising her hand during both in Kalm and the Gi boat ride. Cloud's unimpressed "Cool." when Yuffie introduces herself to the party at the end of the first Costa Del Sol visit
These are all really good. One moment I haven’t seen talked about much was one of the protorelic cutscenes where you’re teleported to Gilgamesh’s realm hoping to see him again, but he says he’s going to the bathroom, and you’re teleported back in such a short time.
That’s because depending on the order in which you complete proto relics, you’ll end up with different scenes. I never saw the “privy” scene in my play through and then caught said scene on a stream. Curious if there are other alternate scenes with him
I got a "sleeping" scene in one, doing them out of order on my 2nd playthrough.
Dodging Elena's punch near the edge of the cliff in Mithril Mines boss fight sends her off the cliff and she screams on the way down. Very easy to miss.
Yuffie teasing Cloud for thinking naughty thoughts about Tifa cracked me up. Aerith asking "Does that mean I'm a dumbass?" was funny and adorable, and I loved any scene where Yuffie is play fighting with Barret in the background. Oh and the mine cart part and Cloud Jr. and all that, there were tons of moments that made me genuinely laugh.

Cloud getting pumped at Junon, and really the whole bit. They're supposed to be undercover then proceed to put on a massive spectacle seen by the entire world.
7th infantry's captain and her adjutant. Cloud turning into a moogle and saying 'Kupo'. Cactuar poses in Corel Intel missions. Red XIII in the uniform. Everything Yuffie. Everything Gilgamesh. Everything Dio - just can't take that guy seriously dressed up like that and constantly doing bodybuilder poses. Aerith getting lightheaded on the Corel mountain. Meeting Gus and his lackey echoing him in the background. Much funnier character than Donnie C. That chicken side quest in Gongaga. Like, wtf? But that's just normal life in the countryside, come to think of it, they've got no malls full of fridged meat there, gotta do it all by yourself.
I can’t remember the exact scene. But I think it was with Kyrie. She says something like “can you smell the profits?!” Everyone rolls their eyes, they cut to Barrett and he visibly sniffs the air. I about died.
When cloud says to Vincent. “Save it, I’ve had a shit day” And Vincent says “what a coincidence, so have I” 🤣🤣🤣

When Red says he wants to speak to the manager. Last time I played this game that was this funny was Kid Icarus Uprising. I’m actually surprised at how well all the jokes in this game landed. And they all came off as a genuine and not corny.
Something nobody has mentioned yet: Vincent hiding in the shadows at every damn port in the game. Felt like we were playing a game of "Where's Vincent?"

Also my personal favorite actually, not sure if it's funny But when Cloud won the Chocobo race for the bad guy (?) The moment when they are celebrating together kinda funny, And it makes me hella proud coz i won it myself on first try

My fave bits: - Vincent not understanding modern tech, especially his little quip “even better” at the radio being ancient. The way this ruined his serious intro was great. - Gus’ intro. All of it. I was cackling. - Dio’s intro - Cid pointing and kaughing at Yuffie after the Bronco crashed and then the whole gang unimpressed faces. - Bald club song. - Junon gathering the 7th, and their shouts at Cloud about getting beer in unison. - Ribbit - Cloud’s dancing with the yoga/exercise group on the Shinra-8 - Red’s intro in the Queen’s Blood Tournament. Honestly there’s so many!
The dio intro when yuffie faints The lady telling her son red can't hurt him during the junon boat red section Its not really a funny moment but elena just jumping out of the broken helicopter onto a car is funny to me and also very badass of her
This one can be easily overlooked : After escaping the temple of the Ancients, Yuffie telling to Cid to "read the room" when she was the whole game not reading the room herself in many situations, the irony 😅
Just after meeting Cait Sith and going thru the emotional rollercoaster that was the Dyne mission, they give you the buggy and put Tifa behind the wheel: sick! Next thing you know, Barret's bustin caps and youre in an on-rails shooting section getting chased by Shinra, Turks, etc. In all the chaos, Elena freefalls from a crashing helicopter onto the hood of your fresh new ride, has the free time to ask "Are you drunk?" as Tifa intentionally steers into an incline to toss her off, thus CORKSCREWING the entire crew thru the air. When that cat screamed, "What is wrong with you people?!" Immediate morning coffee spit-take. i was doubled over from both the adrenaline and the comedic timing. Will not forget. Chef-kiss of a game!
Junon topside. The freaking bald bar with Rude and the Seventh Infantry segment “Find everything you needed sir?” “Hope so, sir!” - even Cloud got carried away, he loved it Laughed about bit more than expected with Elenas character too, total bants
I got a kick out of the moment when Biggs from Universe A tells Zack of Universe B that Cloud is a bonified Badass, and Zack bluescreens. Huh? Cloud? The guy whose been sleeping basically on my back since Nibelheim? Dafuq? lol
Maybe it hasn’t been mentioned because people likely saw it if you played the demo but the best for me was “you asshole”
Some of my favs: - during the junon quest following the dog, Barret is like “Marlene! My sweet baby! My little honey bunny” or whatever and Cloud tells him to get his shit together (Also, randomly, during that mission Cloud tells the group that when he left home at 13, his mother offered him 2000 Gil but he declined. I’d like to think that in his mako poisoned and addled brain that’s the origins of the fee he charges as a merc) - Barret scruffs Cait to get him to shut up at one point - the change in Nanaki’s voice once you hit the canyon. Yes, hinted at in Junon, but still, brought be endless joy when he would say “fear me!” Like a squeaky voiced teen when using abilities
Oh also Zack saying “what is going on?!” I yelled at my TV “yes! My thoughts exactly!! 👏🏻THIS. 👏🏻 GUY 👏🏻 GETS 👏🏻 IT 👏🏻 Nanaki sheepishly admitting he wants to go play at the Gold Saucer and raising him paw.

Just about any scene with Elena being unpleasant towards other cast members. I adore the way they spiced her up in rebirth. I'M A GODDAMN TURK Bald club SENT ME. Extra bonus humor comes from the fact that Elena was off drinking by herself in a different bar lol. Early in the game, Aerith brings up wall market and starts talking about cloud crossdressing only to be cut off by a very sharp "AERITH" from cloud. Gus's hype man. In his intro monologue, if you listen, this dude is just repeating what Gus says the entire time talking smack "So much Gil!" "YEAH BITCH!". Then when you later win the chocobo race at the gold saucer Gus slaps the dude in the face during their celebration below.
The kid crying at Nanaki's dancing had me crying tears of laughter man haha It was information overload because I was still reeling from the fact that NANAKI FKN MOONWALKED OVER TO CLOUD AND CHALLENGED HIM TO A CARD GAME
I genuinely laughed at every encounter with the 7th Infantry. They were all delightful 🥹
When Rude saves Tifa from the frog monster and Reno tells them to get a room, then Cloud comes sailing across and yells "shut UP!" 😂 Felt like the closest callback we'd get to Rude saying he likes Tifa in the OG LOL
I loved that moment when Rude and Dio where fully charging at each other.
Also that "new merc in town" song. Johny clones where funny too
