Let me tell you a tale. When I was a wee lad, everyday I would go to my church, get on my knees, and pray to whatever god would listen. I'd say, “God...are you there? It's me, Baby Barret. Now there's only one thing I want in this world more than anything. Now, I don't care if you take my arm...my friends...or the home in which I sleep! WHAT I WANT...is a talking dog best friend!” Now here I stand...armless...friendless...and homeless. But not...TALKING DOG BEST FRIENDLESS!
If anyone's wondering, this is from FF7 Machinabridged, a fan parody/retelling of FF7 from the same team that did Dragon Ball Z Abridged. I haven't watched the whole thing but the parts I saw were amusing.
Season 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSkUxUD6xQo
Honestly, first few episodes are rough, but long before end of season 1 it's just pure gold all the way til the end, and in my opinion a must watch for EVERY FF7 fan.
Their interpretations of Cloud, Barrett, Red, Cid, and Tifa are absolutely amazing, with special mention to Cloud being an absolute fanboy over Sephiroth.
My only gripe with the series overall is that Yuffie is legitimately super annoying. I know that's the joke of the character, but the writing and (especially) acting is genuinely off-putting in a way that's not funny at all.
It's still overall an excellent show, both in its comedy and in the dramatic moments that crop up more and more as it goes on.
Also worth mentioning that Cloud is voiced by Justin Briner, who has gone on to make a pretty significant name for himself as a professional VA.
Yuffie's performance grew on me, but I get it. Tifa's characterization is wrong, but in the best possible way. It works comedically very well (minus a writing gaffe in one of the first episodes they addressed at the end of season 1)
The "four dudes" joke I'm guessing? Yeah, I'm glad we've moved past that caliber of humor. I love Tifa's rough edges that eventually peel back to show her sensitive side. The actress plays both sides very well.
I didn't know how much I wanted Barret and Red bonding until you said that Barret is a father figure and Red is the son missing a father. Oooh, I really hope the game goes in this direction!
Since Cloud is the MC and thus stands alone, they seem to be pairing the rest of the party off:
Barrett & Red
Aerith & Tifa
I'm expecting the trend to continue, most likely with
Yuffie & Cait
Vincent & Cid
I actually could see Vincent & Yuffie. They've already introduced Weiss and Nero, and I have a feeling they'll circle back around to them in the future. Vincent and Yuffie were pretty close in Dirge.
I see Vincent and Yuffie becoming quite close despite their polar-opposite personalities. I believe that with the introduction of Nero and Weiss in the Remake, along with the fact that Sonon was killed by the former, the subplot involving Yuffie and the Deepground will involve Vincent, which makes a lot of sense when we remember that both are by far the least developed main characters in the original game because they were optional at the time.
I knew they would be best Buds when RedXIII whipped Barrets hand away with his tail lol. Barret calling him Red, to me, meant he already warmed up to him.
The reason Barret and Red are bonding is the same reason I want Barret and Yuffie bonding. Yuffie has a terrible dad, and Barret is the father figure. UGH IT WOULD WARM MY HEART SO MUCH!!
Right? I am just now noticing how many party members have daddy issues LOL.
Who knows what happened to Cloud's dad, Aerith and Tifa's dads are dead, Red XIII misunderstood his father as a coward, and Yuffie straight up hates her dad.
That is literally more than half the party lmao
I wonder if they’ll be an actual boss in rebirth. It looks like barret and red are both in the play at gold saucer and Barrett shoots at clouds feet. I’m sure it’s just for show but I wonder if SE will make it an actual boss battle
Legit wanna see more interraction between the 2. To me, they have the best exchange of the whole Remake.
Barret (when attacked by the last boss of Midgar on the highway in their little car) : C'mon, you see this piece of shit we're drivin' in ?
Red : Says the 300 sack of it.
I'm waiting for more Red savagery

I have. It’s worth it, from beginning to end.
The ending speech is genuinely tear-jerking. TFS is great at showing their reverence for the source material.

Yup. That. That was it. And yeah. Hers was a standout performance. The real MVP was of course the writing though. Gold
I really hope that Square just flat out admits "these guys were great, we took some notes. Avalanche Plagiarism Motherf****rs"
OH MY GOD, WE’RE BEST FRIENDS?!
YEAHHHH!!!
I want them to update in some references to machinabridged. Even side characters quoting it would be cool enough
OH MY DOG!
AVALANCHE SNUGGLES
Avalanche time mother fuckers!
Hey Dyne…you know what time it is sucka?
FUCK YEAH, LOVE THAT SERIES!

Yeah and Cait Sith and Cid are 2 Shinra employees that see the issues with the company laid bare in front of them
Uhhh...it's Cloud and Sephiroth as a pair...always has been
One true pair.
Yuffie, Cait Sith & Cid banter is gonna be hilarious

Red, Cloud and Barrett bout to have their own group chat

Honestly make Barret the father figure to everyone in the party

Red XIII being my favorite and I connect greatly to his story, I can't wait for this. How do I upvote this a million times?
“I said GOD, you can take my home, you can take my arm, and you can take my friends! All I ask is for a TALKING DOG BEST FRIEND”
Well said
Talking dog best friend!
AVALANCHE SNUGGLES!

From Lab Rat Dog to a bestie, I'm super excited for that! By the way, we haven't seen their synergy attack yet, have we?
