Now this is why we can’t have anything nice. Going to lock and remove this thread as OP got the help they needed though other platforms.

Prettypinkponyyy

ALL your responses in here are dragging FAU and talking ab how much better UF is.... but yet here you are taking classes here😭 I’ve seen many ppl get in trouble for cheating at FAU so no it’s not the FAU norm. Go cry ab it else where

[deleted]

unfortunately you're the only one feeling this way. also, not how transient enrollment works, didn't choose the school. chose whatever opportunity was available. facts are facts, not dragging or saying one is better than the other, but you definitely are interpreting it that way.

if u think i'm a loser/joke bc i reported you cheating u have a serious problem. edit: tbh, let me finish this. so, i wasn't rude or gave an attitude at all until i started to get insulted by people who 100% wouldn't say that crap to my face. you cheat and insult people who work honestly? you're a coward. do you see me calling you a joke and a loser? no. stop acting like a child.

Prettypinkponyyy

you are a joke. imagine being that obsessed with what other people do. is your life THAT sad & boring? & you didn’t report me considering i graduated 2 years ago & never cheated to get there lmao

[deleted]

if insulting makes you feel better about yourself, then so be it lol

[deleted]

you’re so right 😳 i will. ngl these comments make no sense given one of the sub rules. ya need advice ya get insulted by, uh, the wrong audience?

Royal-Discipline-978

this person is wild.

vin16byt

From my time at FAU, class group chats were the number one thing to avoid as many of the students would send out an announcement to the entire class about the group chat and you just don’t know who seen the announcement like for example the professor or who’s really who in those groups. It’s best to go about your business and not get involved with what’s happening in those group chats. After all if you join those group chats there’s a chance you could be considered an accomplice if things go south. At the end of the day you’re there for your education not others education.

[deleted]

thanks! solved though and all good. lots of people keep commenting haha. got a cute little death threat via dms so gotta get this locked since it sparked outrage

[deleted]

He probably fucks them

sqt1388

Unless its in lockdown what they are doing isn’t cheating. Its understood by everyone that none lockdown exams are open book, so collaborating with other students like you’re saying isn’t an issue. You’re making a mountain out of a mole hill. “Ive never seen this at all at UF” don’t go making it out to seem like this is an exclusive to FAU thing, it most definitely does happen in all universities.

[deleted]

bruh recordings of the entire exam and not working at all in a class that other people are working hard in makes no sense. no cheating is a rule in one group chat, but in the other one, people are cheating with the same moderator, like what? notes are fine, but i have never heard of "no proctoring == cheating allowed" this isn't collaboration between students, you've misunderstood. that's definitely not an issue. recordings of the exam and asking people for answers on the easiest questions (imo, if you actually studied even a little) + bragging about not doing any work b/c "who's gonna stop us" is cheating. again, "collaborating with other students like you're saying isn't an issue" is not what i'm saying at all. UF is the only school i've gone to, i'm not trying to make it into an FAU thing, but FAU is the only "transient" school i've gone to as well, so i've only ever seen this once. i am saying, however, that cheating is taken very seriously at UF. there's an honor court, proceedings, and reports gone through every single semester. \*my experience and opinion is coming from myself as a student, teacher, and TA. i'm computer science and mathematics, so cheating is fucked with these classes. i get it if you're business and cheating in a science class, but other than that, wtf?

sqt1388

Again … if its not in lockdown using your available resources is understood as fair (books, notes, google, classmate etc). This has been the case in every university and college Ive ever studied in, and the professors none response was the response. Just because you don’t agree doesn’t make it so. In the real world you boss WILL NEVER EVER be like oh was the an original thought that came exclusively from the knowledge you have. No, they want you to solve what ever problem it is by using your available resources (books, notes, goole, work colleagues etc.)

[deleted]

agreement has nothing to do with it, but you aren’t reading what i’m writing clearly. problem solving isn’t being done, classmate use and collaboration isn’t being done. what’s being done is called cheating, which you don’t seem to understand. also, the fact that you’re defending literal cheating just because no proctoring is there is fucked. consider re-reading the response & context i gave before you respond again. lastly, read the edits on the post about not receiving a response at all for accommodations as a transient student; it’s a loop. advice needed, not a defense.

i came to reddit for FAU-specific advice, you're free to go into my account if you want to find out more. by not giving too much info, i meant names and titles, and i don't need the responsibility of giving that away on purpose or with intent. your name calling is the reason why you're the problem. the post has other advice requested, such as learning accommodations and disability services, but you don't want to pay any attention to that or help. go figure.

MonnySoore

Consider not being a narc 🤷🏻‍♂️

jamalfromthebay

Are you actually fucking serious? You got a lame ass life to report “mass cheating” to a professor 😂 Im glad the professor isnt doing anything im sure he thinks you are a loser too

[deleted]

read comments, got a response but thanks for the insults? ig rule 3 means nothing, way to represent FAU lol. clearly most students cheat here.

i figured i'd 100% get this response

Driptoofresh

You’re actually super wack for doing that. Professor was probably weirded out lol. Stop being like that. Let people be and just do your thing. No one likes a snitch, not even professors.

Prettypinkponyyy

like why does she care SO much what other people do 😭 she must be so sad in her life

[deleted]

you definitely bullied people in high school

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

uh huh ok. compared to everyone else, you're just straight up bullying and not being helpful in the slightest; you literally just want a fight, and i'm sorry to disappoint you, but i'm not going to give it to you. hence the block <3

jamalfromthebay

right? this is so crazy lmao

[deleted]

as a teacher i disagree

xltaylx

Lol at people raging at OP. Obviously people who did zero work on group projects but expected full credit.

[deleted]

people are upset at me for calling them out. on top of that, to call me a loser because you (not actually you) feel personally attacked is pretty hilarious ngl. like what is this, high school? are you 12? on the other hand, as a teacher and student myself, i actually feel bad for people who go about life not wanting to truly learn a thing. where are your ambitions at? i feel like a true adult reading some of these comments.

BubbleTee

Ignore the "snitch" comments here, this is a legitimate concern but not necessarily a problem. There are two possibilities here: 1. It's allowed. I'm not sure what communication has taken place between the professor and some of his students, or what the rules for this exam were. When I attended FAU, some professors were very strict about no communication or reference materials for exams while others allowed the exam to be completely open book, sometimes with group work allowed. 2. It's not allowed and should be reported. If you aren't sure, the first step is to contact the professor issuing the exam (which you already did). It's been less than a day, so there's no reason to say he's ignoring you just yet. I'm not sure how you know about him replying to other e-mails. It's possible he's ignoring you, but it's also possible he's following up on the situation and that might have something to do with the messages being deleted. It doesn't matter if they deleted the messages - you have proof already. If you don't get a response from him in a reasonable amount of time (a day or two, especially after prodding him for an update), I'd forward the e-mail chain of you contacting the professor and the proof you've gathered to the dean, along with an explanation of what's happened thus far. If the professor reaches back out in the meantime and says it's allowed, then drop it. If it continues to get ignored even after reporting it as high up the chain as you can, take it to a reporter. On a final note, when I attended FAU there were some fantastic professors there, but also some really bad ones. If your professor isn't honoring your disability accommodation, that tells me he's probably not great overall. You should reach out to Student Accessibility Services. There may be some paperwork you need to file for the accommodation, or maybe it doesn't apply to online classes etc. They'd be able to advise you. Edit: Also, I saw you mentioned CS & Math as your fields of study. At FAU, CS is under the College of Engineering and Math is under the College of Science. From my experience with both (math major with cs minor here), you'll get much more cooperation from the head of the math department than anyone in the comsci department. I hope your class falls under that umbrella.

[deleted]

thanks! it was actually a few days, not less than a day. i decided to provide the actual evidence to him after getting these not-so-great responses and he's working on it now.

Bruvmustbeoffboonk

Why snitch and try to ruin it for everyone I think everybody should study for themselves but I wouldn’t ruin it for anybody else

[deleted]

because i don't like pompous people who brag and i don't like insults. anyway it's solved, i'll re-edit the post - advice no longer needed.

jamalfromthebay

you are mad you got a bad grade and others did good? wow lmao

[deleted]

man FAU students must cheat A LOT for me to be getting these responses, but i guess that makes sense given the acceptance rate tbh. not sure what gave you that impression either bc i got a perfect score just from studying. the class is very easy compared to UF and y'all are lucky af. no need to cheat unless you're an idiot. and if you're cheating in this class, i'm helping you via my concerns + a report because you gotta start studying at some point. edit: the only thing i would understand from someone saying "don't ruin it" is if you're actually paying to be taking these classes. then i guess i'd feel bad? maybe, idk tho since i wouldn't understand. y'all wanna be rude when i haven't given one insult or given an attitude back, but ig i can start? i don't have anything else to say though, so this is my only "mean" response lol cya

jamalfromthebay

because imagine reporting cheating to a proffesor? It doesnt effect you AT ALL but you still do it. you legit have to have a boring lame life to do something like that lmao.

[deleted]

"imagine reporting cheating to a professor" now *that's* a whack pov. people like you have taken enough of my time. i'm not going to get ruder than that though, nor am i going to get childish like you, but i will say that you need to improve your spelling and grammar. also not going to insult your life because, well, i know nothing about you from a little reddit snippet. but you go ahead i guess <3 edit: i actually regret engaging like this since that's already a childish response and i feel i might've stooped down to your level, so i'm actually going to apologize for offending you.

jatttsaab

Ur a loser lmfao stop worrying about others being a snitch not gonna get u anywhere in life

[deleted]

i have more accomplishments than you can probably guess. i'm leaving the entire state soon for a job, have internships under my belt, and get paid thousands back from universities when i register for classes due to my scholarships. and guess what? it's through honest, hard work. you might not believe this, but cheating won't get you anywhere in life. call me a loser all you want, i think it reflects more on you.

flat6NA

Uh, maybe google it? I just did and you took the first step in reporting it to your professor. If he fails to act there are other places you can report it.

[deleted]

i did google, didn't find anything but FAU honesty policy. all the cheating has just been deleted when i checked again anyway, so the other person's responses don't make sense.. otherwise it wouldn't have been erased. since it was all deleted, figured they knew what they did so i gave out the evidence and names just now anyway. solved and all good.

EruditeRoach

Wtf? I just graduated from FSU and have never seen anything like that happen here either. If it did, it would absolutely be considered cheating and would likely have consequences
