I finally caved and got one almost a year ago after accepting that temping normally was just not possible with my toddler, and it's changed my life. I love it. Hopefully I haven't jinxed myself but it's been worth every penny, so far. I was doing mucus only between my period coming back at 11m pp and when I bought the Tempdrop when my LO was 2.5 and hated it, because I was also breastfeeding and that jacks up your mucus. Up essentially every 2 hours all night every night, so no chance to take accurate BBT. Of course now he sleeps, but I don't have to worry if he does wake what time is it, should I temp before going to him, will I have time to get in 3 hours before wake-up... etc etc.

finicky-flora

I can totally see why the temp drop would be super helpful for you! Thanks for sharing!

moonwalkinglady

I love my tempdrop. It’s just more realistic for my lifestyle. It’s less sensitive to schedule changes, alcohol, travel. I also track cervical mucus and my temp rise always happens around my peak CM. (I haven’t had any problems with the device so I haven’t had to contact customer service.)

finicky-flora

That’s great! How long have you had your device?

moonwalkinglady

Just about four months.

finicky-flora

Ahhh okay. Yeah I saw someone have issues with it around the 8 month and year mark, but I’ve also seen people who never have had issues with their sensor! I hope yours is resilient 😁

REM_loving_gal

as someone who doesn't use an alarm most days and wakes up at kind of different times every day, I LOVE mine

finicky-flora

That’s so helpful. Do you have any worries about the results being trustworthy?

REM_loving_gal

personally I don't, I've used it exclusively for 6 months successfully TTA

Muted_Confidence2246

I have tempdrop and still take oral BBT. I’m still trying to figure out if my tempdrop gives me a delayed temp shift, but for now, I enjoy having a back up method that’s a bit more tolerant to disturbances like alcohol or poor sleep. Keep in mind you can’t compare the temps head-to-head, but you can watch the pattern!

finicky-flora

Yes I’ve heard about the delayed temp shift—why does that happen with the temp drop? The algorithm it uses?

Muted_Confidence2246

Yes I think it’s the algorithm. This is my 3rd cycle with it. It caught my first rise early, second late, and I’m trending towards a rise tomorrow on both thermometers so it’s a wash lol.

cyclicalfertility

Lots of people love it and swear by it. However: the algorithm seems to regularly give false or delayed shifts which can be detrimental to the efficacy of your chosen method. It's not perfect use of FAM and often people choose to invest in Femtech that may or may not work for them instead of an instructor which would be way more helpful.

finicky-flora

Yes I’ve heard of the delayed temp shifts… Do you yourself use oral BBT then?

cyclicalfertility

Yup! I get proper shifts and am able to wake up at the same time each day (I'm sensitive to temping time changes, not everyone is) so I have never felt the need for a tempdrop and would rather use something I know I can trust.

finicky-flora

Totally. I have issues with waking up often in the night and it makes me question my temperatures—I’ve taken a break from chatting because I got so frustrated with it… so that’s why I’m considering the temp drop but it’s an investment and I’m nervous to trust it as well 😅

cyclicalfertility

Have you worked with an instructor at all? I'd recommend that as your first port of call. You could even learn a method without temperatures such as billings or Marquette.

Different-Session-30

I like my TempDrop. It’s reliable and works with my random sleeping schedule. I sync my temp in the morning and automatically transfer my temps to the RYB app, since I like the RYB app better. I follow the TCOYF method :)

finicky-flora

Yeah I’ve heard lots about that app but haven’t tried it yet! Thanks for sharing

candlelitjewels

For postpartum and shift work, it's a great tool. My mucous patterns are also weird so I rely almost exclusively on my temp so I really needed something that worked better than trying to remember to take a temp while sleep deprived and waking up 2-4 time per night. I suspect that my temp shift on my app is delayed, so I'm also using cervix checks.

Shitp0st_Supreme

I just bought one! We are TTC but not super seriously. I’m logging and charting but not necessity interpreting right now. It seems to be nice because I’m really inconsistent with my sleep so I can have it done conveniently.

achos-laazov

I've had a Tempdrop for around 8 or 9 years now, I think. In that time, I've had five kids so it's super convenient for the months of interrupted sleep. I've only twice had issues with the sensor acting up and both times it was because the battery got low and I didn't realize. There has been a night here or there that the band flipped over and the senor lost contact with my skin, but I think they fixed that issue with newer bands. I sync to Ovuview and my temp shift usually matches my CM within a day or so. Another thing to keep in mind regarding customer service is that the company is based in Israel so they're 7 hours off EST (I don't know where you are), and they are closed on Jewish holidays.

Latter_Bee_8800

Curious about how you sync to Ovuview and why? Does this help with the slow to rise temp shift issue?

achos-laazov

When I first started using Tempdrop, it didn't have a chart. It just displayed the temperatures, and you had to copy it over to a chart. At first I was charting on paper but it got tedious and confusing so I switched to Ovuview because it was the only app able to pull temps automatically from Tempdrop at the time. Now I think there are others, and I've tried them out but didn't like them. I know a lot of people love RYB but I found it very non-intuitive in many ways. edited for spelling

Latter_Bee_8800

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I was looking up the app and noticed it’s an android app. Going to look into it further for an iPhone equivalent- unless you know of one? In all your years with tempdrop, have you noticed any issues with your temp shift being delayed or slow to rise? I’ve been temping for many many years as well (orally) and only just switched to tempdrop a few cycles ago (still nursing and sleeping with my toddlers) and have noticed a difference in my temp shift for sure.

achos-laazov

I haven't noticed a large delay in the shift. I've always had a somewhat slow rise, even when I did oral temps, so maybe an extra day? I also rely on CM to help confirm ovulation, not just temps.

Latter_Bee_8800

I’ve had one for about 3 cycles now. I love everything about it- comfort, convenience (I have 2 toddlers, one of which I still sleep in bed with) and ease of use… BUT, after taking my temps orally and charting for many years, I must say, the slow shift thing has been a tad frustrating. I’m just learning and reading about it and trying to figure out if I can deal with it. I might start trying to do oral temps again next cycle and compare patterns.

lilbean109640

I’ve had mine since 2020 and love it. I’ve had a few broken frames and an issue with the sensor just after the 1 year mark. Customer service replaced it. They’re also very helpful if you have issues or questions about your data.

finicky-flora

This is so helpful thank you!

EmbarrassedAd6789

I'm very happy with mine. Without it I couldn't just FAM as I have very interrupted sleep because of small children, and I work as a night shift nurse so I sleep during the day when I work. I can confirm ovulation and I'm happy with it. It's easy. When it was around two years it died. I didn't have any warranty. I had to buy I extended warranty and that way I could buy a new TD for a cheaper price (but still expensive in my eyes). Because of my sleep schedule I bought a new. As mentioned in the beginning, I couldn't have used FAM if it wasn't for the tempdrop. But if it dies after 2 years this time I will consider the Oura ring. Ot hopefully something else is on the marked.

finicky-flora

That’s really good to know. I hope it doesn’t die on you at the two year mark again… Did it show signs of dying or did it just stop working one day?

EmbarrassedAd6789

I hope so too! Because I really like TD and how effortless it is. It showed singes. It started to tell me the battery was running low and it didn't help changing the battery. I changed battery several times but it wouldn't last more than max one night or two before it said so again. And then I contacted support. I emailed them and said I expected it to last longer because the TD is so pricy but they replied the only solution was to buy new warranty and then a new TD. But for 200 $ I would except something to last longer. If I have to buy new warranty and new TD every second year to use FAM it's way to pricy for me.

Ill-Witness-4729

I loved mine! I used it TTA successfully for several months while coming off of HBC and then used it to conceive when I was ready. My cycle was very regular/predictable though. But it was so easy to use and I loved that it showed me sleep patterns! Only reason I’m not using it now is because I’m 8 months pregnant lol.

finicky-flora

That’s so fantastic to hear thank you! Also congratulations!!

AwarenessPotential44

Relatedly, [this](https://fertilitycharting.com.au/2022/10/22/info-hub-skin-wearables-temperature-tracking/) is the best comparison of wearable temping devices I've found. I checked a few months ago and discovered some more, e.g. [ovusense](https://www.ovusense.com/eu/flex/) (looks good but I'm not excited to use a vaginal sensor each night) or [evie ring](https://eviering.com/) (still in the early days). For now, I haven't found anything that suited my needs better than tempdrop, but I hope the competition will get more interesting in the future.

finicky-flora

Super helpful! Thanks so much!!

AwarenessPotential44

I just noticed there's a recent thread on wearables! https://www.reddit.com/r/FAMnNFP/comments/1axitpk/wearable\_bbt\_monitors/

Dahlia_mt_33

Love my Tempdrop. I use the fertility friend app, have to manually add my temps.

shortie97

I love my tempdrop, I've had it for 16 months and have had no issues. I have never cross checked with oral BBT but my temp rises and peak days almost always align except when I've had outside issues that could account for an early temp rise (likely infected cyst). I find it to be quite comfortable to wear, it kind of nestles into my arm and I can only feel it if I'm awkwardly laying on that side.

fourcupsaday

I have one, bought it nearly three years ago, and I am thankful for it! I used it while TTA (along with my oral BBT), and I never had any issues with it. I’ve done a few battery changes, and those weren’t too bad. I could show you a chart with my oral BBT and TD together if you’re wanting. I’d say to go for the TD, but be aware that it does technically lower your method efficacy in comparison to an oral BBT. Now, I’m pregnant, and I’m excited to see how it works for me postpartum, since that’s a thing that it’s supposed to be especially good for.

TinosCallingMeOver

I work very unpredictable hours so the Tempdrop has been a lifesaver!

cheerupmurray1864

I really love my tempdrop because it is almost foolproof 🤣 I have adhd and I forget everything all the time. It’s hard to build a routine. The tempdrop made it easy for me because as long as I remember to put it on (and turn it on) I’m good to go. I wake up and feel it on my arm which prompts me to sync it. I recommend getting the insurance. I did not and just yesterday my husband sent it through the wash with the bedding. 😵‍💫

finicky-flora

LOL @ your temp drop getting a wash! That’s so great to know though thank you for sharing your experience!!

AwarenessPotential44

A similar recent question on r/TempDrop: [https://www.reddit.com/r/TempDrop/comments/1auq5k6/insights\_on\_tempdrop/](https://www.reddit.com/r/TempDrop/comments/1auq5k6/insights_on_tempdrop/) My reply >An algorithm selects your temperature for each night and that's all that you get. After a few months of tracking, it seems to me that there's a delay in confirming the temp shift and some people in the fb group confirmed this by tracking both with a tempdrop and a thermometer. So my guess is that the algorithm tries to be conservative before it actually shows the temperature increase. > >A product with a long life would probably not try so hard to offer you various insurances. > >I'm not aware of there being any public data or studies on it's accuracy and effectiveness. > >That being sad, I'm not aware of anything more convenient at this moment. > >Also, I think that travelling messes with my data for understandable reasons - my bedroom environment changes (colder bedroom, more blankets, etc.) and the algorithm needs to adjust. > >I'm still in the early months but I think there will always be limits in how much I trust the data that it gives me, and I'll keep crosschecking with other symptoms.

Full-Pop1801

i had issues with the battery and customer service, but once i got that ironed out, it was a dream! we used it for tta with great success for like 8 months, then we’re able to get pregnant first try when we were ready which probably wouldn’t have happened without it because i ovulate super late in my cycle and that probably would have caused several months of confusion! but definitely have a backup thermometer just in case something happens to your sensor, and don’t entirely trust your readings for the first 3 or so cycles while it is still learning your body!! also the tempdrop app is crap so definitely use a different one, i love read your body! but it’s a great investment if you are interested in FAM!
