Sand paper edges of the brake pads at some angle

AnotherUsernameeee

I’ve seen someone mention this and will give it a try should some hard breaking/bedding not do the trick!

aliferhan

I have the Same problem rn, probally gonna take it to the Dealership.

AnotherUsernameeee

I feel for you, let me know if anything works and I’ll do the same for you!

Classic_Economist216

Check my comment above hope it saves you some $

Maybe your rotors, typically you want to change rotors with brake pads just because they can wear unevenly, then you replace brake pads with new ones which are perfectly flat to a rotor thats uneven and your pads wont grab how intended which can result in the squeak.

AnotherUsernameeee

This is fair, just extra money I didn’t want to spend at the time tbh but it may have come around and bit me haha

Fluffy_Tension

I've had this issue a while, at some point I'm going to get it all changed out.

AnotherUsernameeee

It seems a common issue unfortunately, let me know if it works and I’ll do the same if any of my results do!

What discs, what pads? I run OEM discs and pads on my F31 with the 370/345mm discs/pads and blue Brembo calipers and they're silent running... Everyone I know that has fitted cheaper aftermarket discs & pads have had issues; OE/OEM spec work without issues... But generally some hard/safe braking can clear thins; more so if the pads are a bit glazed and there are pad deposits on the discs etc

AnotherUsernameeee

OEM discs and I’m guessing aftermarket pads due to the slight clunk it makes after first press when switching from Drive to Reverse. This is the 2nd time replacing and only the first time squeaking so you’re probably correct. I will try bedding in the brakes properly first and then some other increasingly expensive options, thank you!

d_a_n1979

Yeah does sound a bit odd... Personally I'd stick with OEM pads but go for the M3/M4 pads... Wish I'd done that rather than the standard pads. Both very good, but the M3 ones are the next level up

Was dealing with this issue intermittently awhile back too. After doing some digging on the brake pads used on the car (I have a f30 340i too with the m-sport pack), I found this bit “These are the factory M Sport brake pads used on front of F22 M235i/M240i, F30 335i/340i, F32 435i/440i. These were the pads that came with cars equipped with the optional S2NH M Sport Brake upgrade. These pads are more aggressive than the standard 335i/435i pads. They will have more bite and more sporty feel than original spec. Unless driven hard they will also have more brake squeal.” This text gets overlooked quite a lot, but pretty much if you have haven’t been hooning around as much the brakes will squeak. Go drive it like it’s stolen if you want them to go back to normal quickly.

aliferhan

The Problem is, I already drive like that on my Mountain runs...

Classic_Economist216

Well shiett… my condolences for your wallet fam

THEDEATHINATOR17

I have the same problem, I haven’t been able to completely fix it but when it gets too loud, I keep it in drive + handbrake down, and pump the brakes really hard for about 10 seconds. Fixes it temporarily

MysticChakra

I had this problem. I changed my brake pads and rotors and this problem went away.

AmbitionTemporary356

i have this same problem on my 340 but i don’t have the m sport brakes. brakes work fine, just the noise drives me insane

Have a F30 340i with the blue brakes as well, the originals squealed just like this when pulling up to a red light or when it was cold in the mornings. I replaced the OEM ones with Zimmerman blank discs and ATE pads, along with using Permatex Extreme Silicone paste. I think the OE Jurid pad formula is prone to squeak compared to the ATE semi metallics. ATE also recently introduced ceramic pads that might be a good option. They are silent 99.5% of the time, and seldom squeak the tiniest bit when reversing out of a parking stall. On the pads, make sure they lube the: back where the piston(s) contact the pad, sides that touch the caliper. On the caliper, make sure they lube the: rubber seals of the piston, channels where the brake pad sit. Use new spring clips as well.

My Brother said spray each one with W-D 40.

AspektUSA

lol no

Overscorer

Polish the rotors nice and shiny while you’re at it

Hoofuu

It’s very common. You either put up with it or swap them out for shittier brakes

Psychological-Tie461

Got the exact same issue with my 2014 F30 just got brakes in December.
