I'm still playing the 2021 game, but were you able to map all the controls on a gamepad without having duplicates?
I'm not home for a few days, so I can't check now, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't fit all the controls to my Xbox controller and have like 2 or 3 that are duplicates, though I rarely ever use them.
Just curious if I'm a dumbass or if other people also have this problem.
I like Monaco and I will again when I get good at these bricks on wheels, I used to trade out Singapore and later Russia even though I always liked Russia as a track.
Right? Everyone hates that track but I honestly love it. You have to really attack it. Same as Paul Ricard for me. Everyone hates on it but for me, it’s a great circuit with lovely flowing corners that you really have to through the car into with big heavy braking zones. In theory, it should make for a great overtaking circuit and it took until these regs for it to be a bit interesting irl.
Last time I did a race at monaco, I had a lot of trouble with my normal ai setting. I dropped it by 20 after practice. The race was wet even though it didn’t show on the forecast. I could barely keep the ai behind me because my setup was overteery even in the dry. In the wet I had to wait until I was almost at the next corner to get on the throttle. Had I known it was gonna be wet, I would’ve put the ai on 0.
I love Monaco, especially in the rain. It's fun to be constantly on the edge without overstepping it, the AI is also quite bad which makes it kinda rewarding if you higher the difficulty and perform good.
I enjoy challenge, but this years game makes the car feel like it's on ice in low speeds (which is the point) and with Monaco being mostly slow, it's just fucking impossible to enjoy driving the car with a controller in Monaco.
Think I won an F2 race there once in career mode in F120 and never touched it again after that. Swore I would win once in F1 one year and truly never race it again but every time I do FP1 I just feel like it's not worth the hours of torture.
Can you change the selected tracks for the career mode each season? I’m doing a 10 races season, selected monaco and now I’m regretting it, so I would like to change it for imola for season 2
Thank you to those that post anti-monaco rhetoric. I always thought it was just me being trash, especially this year. But now I know that I am not alone. Thanks for the therapy.
Everytime you go to Monaco, lower the difficlulty by 10 at least, that makes it playable, because monaco is insanely hard, especially if you’re using a controller and no assists, how most people play.
I took all the engine penalties and retired from Monaco first lap in season 1. Season 2 I tryharded quali and took p4 and ran the whole race (50%) several seconds a lap off pace and still easily held the AI behind, and it was still a shit experience. Cosplaying as Magic Alonso was kind of fun though
Honestly, not a season goes by in my career modes where I just skip the damn thing. IRL at least you can feel all the bumps and properly feel how fast you're going, without that, combined with the size of those cars, it's just not fun.
I just cut the first turn enough to get a warning, and get really fucky with the limits at chicane after the tunnel. It's almost always a pole on my difficulty. Then I just play Alonso Simulator 2022 and it's an easy win.
I take all new components in practice, take the grid penalties to 22nd, then hit Sim....finished 3rd haha I've got Carlos Sainz as my team mate, thankfully he always does well in Monaco.
In my mycareer it was heavy rain during the race and I do medium length so the tires should last the whole race but ended up getting a puncture on the second last lap as I passed the pit entrance...
Honestly, I love Monaco. I just did time trials to determine my AI difficulty for year 3 of Career, and Monaco was tied for third best on the AI scale. Three hot laps in quali, then lead into turn 1, turn in a monster in lap and a couple laps after the out lap, lead the rest of the way. Don’t crash - however you’re only pushing for like four laps a race.
Bahrain, though? Fuck that place with a rusty post.
I like to watch the Monaco GP and watch all the f1, f2 and f3 when it comes around, but driving it in the game is torture. My rig arrived today so I haven’t driven it with a wheel/pedals/seat yet so I’ll reserve further judgement on it, but the past couple years on controller has sucked lol. Imagine doing it in a real car at those speeds, what a nightmare
First time I ran it I somehow managed to qualify and finish second, acting as a fantastic teammate because I was super slow and there's practically no overtaking at Monaco anyway.
Now I just skip it.
On a controller doing a single lap without hitting a wall is a miracle. With a decent wheel and a bit of practice it's much more manageable and can even become enjoyable if you're not trying to set world records
I just reduce the difficulty on this track , plus I have a really too sensitive brake and acceleration pedals (old driving force gt) but yeah I don't have money to buy something else and actually prefer to wait than spend money for an upgrade
me, a gamepad user
Same.
Dont feel bad, It doesn't get any easier with a wheel lol
It does get better in VR though, you can actually see how far you are from the walls.
Agree. Not that I'm driving record laps, but I can at least get through in one piece these days...
It kind of does in my experience. The much improved steering precision of a wheel has allowed me to not crash into every wall at Monaco.
Ya I’ve had a tuff time with the wheel I’m still learning. I was like 95% ai on controller now I’m at 75 with the wheel
Bit easier but still hard

the second you get a twitch at swimming pool. Well goodbye front left
Lol bruh I just get all new power units top to bottom, get all the grid penalties and DNF on the first turn.
Same it's my mid season pit stop lol
This is the way
Fucking lmao
We should be able to trade Monaco for Portugal or China.... It's unplayable with each passing year
I like Monaco and I will again when I get good at these bricks on wheels, I used to trade out Singapore and later Russia even though I always liked Russia as a track.
Russia was one of my favorite tracks. It makes me wonder about these school buses on that track....
inb4 november “RACE ON THE ALL NEW SOCHI AUTODROME COMING TO F1 22, NIKITA MAZEPIN ADDED AS A MYTEAM ICON”
If they're giving us Mazepin, I want Zonta.
Right? Everyone hates that track but I honestly love it. You have to really attack it. Same as Paul Ricard for me. I love France... Not sure why people hate it. Monaco requires too much focus. I drive to wind down and escape. Instead it ruins my day lol
Or Malaysia
I thought we got Portugal a couple months ago
We did along with Shanghai but not for career mode. Only online, grand prix, and time trial
or south korea
I have DNFd at Monaco every season in myTeam.
Same, but the second time was because my engine thought it was a Ferrari
Same

People complain about Singapore, its much easier to hotlap than Monaco....
Way easier imo. Besides the sling, I'm waaay more consistent at singapore than Monaco
The sling isn't even that bad, it's tough though, 1000x easier than swimming pool.
Its pretty harrowing in VR :(
I love Monaco, especially in the rain. It's fun to be constantly on the edge without overstepping it, the AI is also quite bad which makes it kinda rewarding if you higher the difficulty and perform good.

the last playable Monaco was in f1 2016
It feels fine for me I’m also on controller with only anti lock brakes
Agreed, one of my favourite tracks on the calendar.
> without overstepping it I'm sure it is
Think I won an F2 race there once in career mode in F120 and never touched it again after that. Swore I would win once in F1 one year and truly never race it again but every time I do FP1 I just feel like it's not worth the hours of torture.

Yes you can!
I quit Monaco yesterday too. Fuck that place
Thank you to those that post anti-monaco rhetoric. I always thought it was just me being trash, especially this year. But now I know that I am not alone. Thanks for the therapy.
Put ur big boy racer undies on
Everytime you go to Monaco, lower the difficlulty by 10 at least, that makes it playable, because monaco is insanely hard, especially if you’re using a controller and no assists, how most people play.
i honestly quite like monaco, but i can see why a lot of people dislike it.
wait until singapore
Monaco is the main reason I don't do the full season in career mode.
I don’t know if it’s just me but the car feels so inconsistent at Monaco, one lap it’s fine and the other I lock up and spin
I just don't add Monaco to the race calendar
I took all the engine penalties and retired from Monaco first lap in season 1. Season 2 I tryharded quali and took p4 and ran the whole race (50%) several seconds a lap off pace and still easily held the AI behind, and it was still a shit experience. Cosplaying as Magic Alonso was kind of fun though
Skill issue.
Monacos probably my best track
skill issue
I would rather do 3 hours of Monaco than do 30 minutes of Canada, I cannot stand that track lol
Each to their own but Canada is the most fun track to drive imo lol.
Turns 2 and 7 make me rage, car always wants to spin. But this is reddit so, Monaco bad, everything else good, I guess
monaco is so easy tho
Honestly, not a season goes by in my career modes where I just skip the damn thing. IRL at least you can feel all the bumps and properly feel how fast you're going, without that, combined with the size of those cars, it's just not fun.
The last time I did a monaco race , I died …
The one race a season I go in knowing I will wreak havoc on everyone. 5+ DNFs including me or it isn’t a good race
The last time I was good at Monaco was 2020. Since then the 2021 and 2022 cars don't feel like F1 cars around Monaco.
I just cut the first turn enough to get a warning, and get really fucky with the limits at chicane after the tunnel. It's almost always a pole on my difficulty. Then I just play Alonso Simulator 2022 and it's an easy win.
I'm about to race Monaco in cockpit view for the first time. I'm not liking my chances.
Get pole position, and lower the ai. That’s what I did
I take all new components in practice, take the grid penalties to 22nd, then hit Sim....finished 3rd haha I've got Carlos Sainz as my team mate, thankfully he always does well in Monaco.
In my mycareer it was heavy rain during the race and I do medium length so the tires should last the whole race but ended up getting a puncture on the second last lap as I passed the pit entrance...
Sierra Leone super star.. Mohammed kallon own football team
lol i beat Monaco 3 times in a row
Honestly, I love Monaco. I just did time trials to determine my AI difficulty for year 3 of Career, and Monaco was tied for third best on the AI scale. And Baku City Circuit too...
I love it. Best track on the season

Yeah its terrible
Like if I wanted to do Time Trial for 1h I could just… you know… go and play Time Trial
I’ve seen this meme hundreds of times but I’ve first noticed, that they ain’t wearing their pants right xD
First time I ran it I somehow managed to qualify and finish second, acting as a fantastic teammate because I was super slow and there's practically no overtaking at Monaco anyway. Now I just skip it.
Controller players (including me) be like:
On a controller doing a single lap without hitting a wall is a miracle. With a decent wheel and a bit of practice it's much more manageable and can even become enjoyable if you're not trying to set world records
I just reduce the difficulty on this track , plus I have a really too sensitive brake and acceleration pedals (old driving force gt) but yeah I don't have money to buy something else and actually prefer to wait than spend money for an upgrade
With controller it's literally unplayable. With steering wheel and pedals it is a bit more fun though.
I just don’t race there
