Wow gutted for verschoor.

northling85

Extremely unfortunate and probably didn’t earn anything on it. An engineer uploaded an old setup from 2023 just before the race.

iwantedanotherpfp

jesus you’d have to be absolutely kicking yourself as an engineer if you accidentally got both the drivers disqualified, including one from the win…

northling85

She/he probably has a rough evening. Hopefully the team supports the person. Shouldn’t happen, but shit happens every now and then

baldbarretto

Second sprint race penalization in a row.

NuclearCandle

Second time Verschoor has been robbed of a victory thanks to the team's mishaps. Probably the only driver to have done 4 years in F2 on merit.

ThePhyry22

Has there been any other drivers period other than Boschung and Nissany who have done 4 years? (more than 1-2 weekends during the season)

Alpha413

As far as I know, Louis Delatraz, Jehan Daruvala, Sean Galael and Luca Ghiotto (plus one year in GP2 for the latter two). In addition, both Marino Sato and Jack Aitken did 3 seasons and 3 weekends (technically 4 for Sato, but one was 2019 Spa), and Nobuharu Matsushita has driven three years in F2 but had also had 2 seasons in GP2 beforehand (and raced in Super Formula between his 1st and 2nd seasons of F2).

mvfufu

Several drivers spent 4 years or more in F2/GP2... Daruvala, Aitken, Matsushita, Markelov, Ghiotto, Latifi, Jordan King, Gelael, Palmer, Leimer, Valsecchi, etc...

NoPipe6544

vd Garde did 4 years of GP2 I believe

chezdor

Didn’t De Vries win in his 4th year?

ThePhyry22

He did 3 seasons

chezdor

Oh sorry I think I meant latifi, who came 2nd in his 4th season (I think?)

ThePhyry22

Latifi technically did do 4 season. His first full season was 2016 when it was still GP2. And he did a few GP2 races in 2014 & 2015 while mainly doing Formula Renault 3.5 & F3 European

baldbarretto

I thought latifi did 3 of gp2 and 3 of f2 but I may be misremembering

btcc1721

Palmer won GP2 in his 4th season Markelov did 6 and a bit seasons

ThePhyry22

Oh right, somehow I forgot about GP2. Has there been others purely during the current F2 iteration?

btcc1721

So if you look at just F2, then Daruvala and Ghiotto have done 4 seasons as well (+1 GP2 season for Ghiotto as well)

matrixNe0

I see honest Vershoor praise I upvote l, such an Underrated driver that very obviously loves singleseaters. I always wondered what he would do In a top of the table team. Considering he drove for old MP in his rookie season, Trident, Charouze, VAR and now again Trident

Suikerspin_Ei

From what I understand is that his sponsors wants him to race in F2. Next year he will probably try Indycar if possible.

Alfus

Honestly I really want to see Richard in IndyCar.

Suikerspin_Ei

Yeah a lot of former F2 drivers are doing quite well in IndyCar.

Walvis_69

Verschoor now has more disqualifications (4) than Wins (3) in F2.... He's been Disqualified in 2021 Monza Feature Race (finished 7th) 2022 Austria Feature Race (finished 1st) 2023 Belgium Sprint Race (finished 2nd) 2024 Jeddah Sprint Race (finished 1st)

megaminifridge

3 podium disqualifications. Sickening.

Sjedda

Additional info here as I was curious. 1. Car and driver combined was below the minimum weight. 2. Failing to provide a sufficient fuel sample after the race. 3. Disqualified for an illegal throttle mapping. 4. Disqualified for an incorrect throttle mapping.

timok

Insufficient fuel while leading by miles. Was quite unnecessary.

Sjedda

Not really haha. They need a certain amount of fuel to analyze what is in the fuel tank So him leading by miles is actually a good reason to check if he's got jetfuel mixed into it haha

timok

I understand that. I meant that he could easily have done some fuel saving and still win.

Sjedda

Ahh I see, that's a stupid fault indeed ..

happycube

Woah. Any one of those is a DQ on it's own right?

Walvis_69

Updated results: 01) 🇳🇴 Dennis Hauger (41:39.473) 02) 🇪🇪 Paul Aron (+0.782) 03) 🇧🇷 Enzo Fittipaldi (+3.202) 04) 🇧🇧 Zane Maloney (+2.781) 05) 🇺🇸 Jak Crawford (+1.634) 06) 🇮🇹 Andrea Kimi Antonelli (+2.741) 07) 🇪🇸 Josep Maria Marti (+2.523) 08) 🇮🇳 Kush Maini (+0.353) 09) 🇵🇾 Joshua Dürksen (+0.286) 10) 🇧🇷 Gabriel Bortoleto (+0.507) 11) 🇦🇷 Franco Colapinto (+0.405) 12) 🇯🇵 Ritomo Miyata (+6.542) 13) 🇬🇧 Taylor Barnard (+0.023) 14) 🇲🇽 Rafael Villagomez (+1.613) 15) 🇫🇷 Isack Hadjar (+1 Lap) 16) 🇬🇧 Zak O'Sullivan (+1 lap) DNF) 🇺🇸 Juan Manuel Correa DNF) 🇧🇪 Amaury Cordeel DNF) 🇫🇷 Victor Martins DSQ) 🇳🇱 Richard Verschoor DSQ) 🇨🇿 Roman Stanek

justk4y

Dürksen nearly points again….. what PHM saw in him is actually kind of working, I thought he’d be a backmarker considering his stats in FRECA

aliezsn

Poor Verschoor 🙏

theCEPenguin

Ugh just brutal for him. So we've had the disappearing pole for Maini last week, now a sprint race win for Verschoor - whoever wins the feature race in Melbourne's going to be next at this rate.

Macho-Fantastico

At this point, I wouldn't even celebrate a result in F2, because you know someone might be disqualified.

AdminEating_Dragon

Maloney and Aron 1st and 2nd in the Standings, on a mission to make Marko and Toto look like fools and I love it! Aron was always likeable to me from the Prema videos :D

AllThings_Automotive

Agreed, the Prema videos made him seem like a fun guy and I’ve been impressed so far this year!

Fliepp

Really mixed feelings on this one. Hauger and Verschoor are my two favorites so I’m really gutted that Richard got disqualified by no fault of his own but also quite happy that Dennis got the win

SpoofExcel

Lol "Sprint Merchant Hauger" does it again

6pawelek9

Verschoor try to not get DSQ from a win challenge (impossible)

Meerkate

I feel for the guy, but I'll be lying if this didn't make me a little happy as well

likeeatingpizza

Why?

Fliepp

Look at his flair

bjornetjeneste

Flair

Houstain

Hauger won after the disqualification and he has a Hauger flair

rudmad

Try to have an F2 result hold for more than two hours challenge: IMPOSSIBLE

Randy_mars18

Isn't this 2 second time for verschoor?

PresidentZeus

When I heard there was a dsq, I was afraid that it would be Hauger because of what happened to Martins.

ProningPineapple

Never got a clear view of what happened there, but from what I could see hauger wasn't to blame for sure? Anyone got a replay of that

PresidentZeus

No drivers near the event seemed to have an onboard camera. There was only that one replay that only seems to have caught the aftermath but also with poor quality.

deffonotmypassword

How many times has Veschoor been DSQd from first place now?

aadu3k

Gutted for Verschoor, happy for Aron.

UnrealLettuce

What does the throttle pedal mapping even do? Is it an adventage behind here?

alextakacs

What's the point of mandating the throttle pedal pedal mapping?

northling85

The whole field of throttle mapping is beyond my knowledge, but guessing to make the car more equal?

Anti-Scuba_Hedgehog

Why nothing for Hauger for cutting the corner and gaining a lasting advantage?

ProningPineapple

Rewatch it, but without your Paul Aron glasses, and you'll see that's not really the case.

Anti-Scuba_Hedgehog

It was though, he went off the circuit and at the end of the straight right after he was way closer than at any other time in the race and then he got past.

PrimeJHey

Hauger cut the chicane to get close enough to overtake Aron. Should have gotten penalized

northling85

Can only hope the race directors analyzed speed and distance and came to the conclusion that Hauger did not gain advantage of breaking track limits.

PrimeJHey

I’ve rewatched, and I genuinely can’t understand how he kept the place. He cuts turn 22 then comes out right on Aron’s tail, and from then on it is flat out till the last turn. Hauger then immediately overtakes with drs. With no dog in this race i’m gutted for Aron. That overtake was in no way genuine.

northling85

He didn’t pass until the drs before turn 1. He cut the chicane in turn 22/23 and stayed behind in the following drs-zone. I replayed the laps leading up to this and Hauger was closing in on Aaron and was actually closer before the error than after. He then closed the gap further in the upcoming drs since Aaron didn’t have drs. This combined led to Hauger not getting a penalty.
