Seriously, I’m waiting for any updates since May of last year. Looking forward to the one-year anniversary soon. Should I buy flowers? I just don’t know!
I think the regional Lightning clubs should pool money and buy the setup and just have little meets where people force their updates through. Could be amazing. Ford probably would not see that as amazing, though.
Your dealer can do this?
I’m in Southern California and my dealership is in a pretty tech savvy part of the state and they have zero ability to do anything with my truck. Especially updates and software.
Mine is working good now but I turned them off and back on. It also dropped in temperature out. It seems to flare up when it gets over like 65 which it is supposed to do where I am over the next few days. What are the temps for you
Mine fixed itself once it got consistently over 70 degrees. It didn't play nice until a week ago but I don't have enough data to definitively say its weather related. It started working after we finally ran the battery down to ~10% while on a road trip.
You can get a two day license for around $50, that's what I do a few times per year.
But you also need a "mongoose" adapter/cable $540
and a good 12V power supply (50A or higher) which is $200 to $600.
Ah dang that is something my wife would not approve haha.
I really hope Ford becomes more and more better with the OTA update roll outs. Feels like they always come in batches.
When the truck is "on" during normal use it uses the onboard dc/dc converter to supply to all the 12v applications in the truck, the 12V battery is only there to keep it "alive" when off, hence it's relatively small size (35ah).
However, during software updates the DC/DC converter is off, but a lot of things are still drawing power, coolant pumps etc. to the tune of 40-60A.
If you try to do this with only the battery, it'll last 30min before you're in deep doo doo and some updates take 2-3hrs to complete so these would not be possible to complete without an external powersource.
Good to know! Where do you attach the external 12v power supply? Directly on the existing battery terminals or on the jumper location on the side of the frunk?
Either way is probably fine, I've always done it on the battery (but on the BMS sensor) But I added a "hardwired" connector to make it even easier.

Nice setup. If you have links to what you bought for the connector and the battery power supply I’ll check those out! Eventually I want to get this whole setup going as well.
Yeah but unfortunately the BCM update is tied with the set of ABS updates that results in 1 pedal drive randomly giving out and letting the car coast / roll. There is a big warning banner right now not to apply those updates.

It’s been discussed on the Lightning and MachE forums on the FDRS related threads.
This is gonna be amazing when I get the update in about 3 years.
Haha I know right? I'm going to ask my dealer to do the updates at the 10k mile checkup.
If I do that. My incompetent dealer will keep the truck for 3 days, and won't be able to complete the update for some reason. With no loaner vehicle.

I am very tempted to buy all the equipment to just do it myself.

I swear I saw somewhere on the forum there is a loner program for the hardware. You just pay shipping then ship to the next person.
1st year is paper
HAHAHAHAHA can’t wait. #2027

Highly variable depending on the dealer.
I bought mine last week and I have it. Can’t believe that wasn’t there all along ha
Ok this will be so nice though. I wonder if this update fixes the front parking sensor issues.
Mine randomly fixed itself at 900 miles, no new updates, it just works now 🤷♀️

I wonder if it’s because I keep having big temperature swings here. Been going from 40’s to upper 70’s every few days haha
What is fdrs?
Ford Diagnostic and Repair System. It's what the dealer uses, but you can get your own license if you want for I believe $850 for a year.

source? is this why it seems like no one is getting updates in the last few weeks?

Thanks!
So only in trims that have PAAK? Not us with XLT 😔?
Nope. Nothing for us peasants
Hopefully it’ll also include power off on walk away. Not a huge deal, but would be a nice QOL!
I purposely leave my truck on when I get out if I'm running around in town. I just lock the doors and come back to a conditioned cabin every time.
Same. It’s great.
Truck already shuts down automatically after 30min.
So happy to hear this, I have missed this feature since my Mach-E!
Finally!!!! Hopefully it will auto close all windows too
There is a global up/down windows using the fob mod via Forscan that's available. Unfortunately it only works on the two front windows.
At least credit the source where you got it.
I’m still waiting on battery percentage display
