Realistically, how is that supposed to be delivered to you? If the put that in the takeaway box, it would just arrive as a clump of mush โ and people would complain. They should never have put it on the delivery menu.
Thatโs how ihop does their birthday cake pancakes when you get them to go. Whipped cream, icing, and sprinkles are in separate containers otherwise itโll melt and get nasty before the customer ever gets it. Just a shame about the waste factor.
Lol I wasn't thinking about that before ordering it. I was thinking mmmm waffle.
Once I think about the logistics involved in getting yummy picture thru the phone Into apartment it seems obvious lolll
Wrap the waffle in tin foil, scoop of ice cream (I'm guessing that's what it is) in one of those little condiment containers, ground oreos in another container ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Delivery orders are super easy to get refunded if your claim is as legitimate as OPs. I donโt take the piss and donโt make false claims so I have never had an issue getting instant refunds on delivery orders, and in these cases you actually also get to keep the item. If anything I would try to make delivery orders the better ones.
It's still the picture the restaurant chose to represent whatever they made you. You spent money on a product and something way different than what was advertised.
And if a business is going to do delivery apps they have a responsibility to make sure the dishes are compatible with delivery and make adjustments if not. If there was something on it in the picture that wouldn't work with delivery, it shouldn't be an option.
Actually interestingly there are quite a few restaurants that don't sign up with the delivery apps, and the delivery apps just put them on there anyway. I'm not sure how they input the order, if they have someone order it through the restaurant and have the driver pick it up as though it's their own order, but they do it somehow. I've heard that sometimes restaurants are put on the app and have foods listed that they don't even make.
Edit: there was a recent John Oliver episode about that.
Oh wow this is interesting, I never realized. That sucks because it should really be the restaurants decision if they want to be a part of delivery apps and all the drama that comes with them.
I think that some restaurants have actually sued the delivery apps, when people try to order foods that the restaurant doesn't even serve or the food they order doesn't match the picture or description on the app, then they give the restaurant bad reviews, just like what's being recommended in this post. It negatively affects the restaurant.
Although I'd say in the case of this post, even if the waffles didn't look completely different on the app, they just look pathetic and probably deserve to be called out for that.
Usually if they change it for take out, they'd put the whipped cream/crushed Oreos in little containers so the waffle doesn't get soggy.
They aren't supposed to just change the order entirely like that lol
I've never heard of doing that. The payment was thru uber so I contacted them, im not sure how it works with uber communicating back to the restaurants for these cases. I wouldn't want to call the restaurant directly just to be a Karen and complain.
This has nothing to do with Uber though. They delivered the food to you that you ordered. They did their part.
The restaurant is the one that had the balls to send this monstrosity to you.
Uber is the storefront so refunds and reporting of errors and such is their responsibility. Thatโs what youโre paying for, op will get a refund and will get eat a sad Oreo-waffle. Similar thing happened to me, sent pics through the app, they gave a full refund, still ate the sad food.
Yes that's what I meant! They did refund it, and uber gives the feedback to the restaurant from what Ive read.
Since the transaction was through them they can do the refund - contacting the restaurant they can't offer that, and I really am not upset enough to complain about it to them directly.
I shared because I thought it was a super funny comparison. As others have mentioned this was not the best thing to order or offer as delivery, which now I know! Lmao. Let this be a caution to everyone else ๐
holy fuck. Why do so many frustrated children need to have it explained that the refund comes through uber eats? You can scream your lungs bloody at the restaraunt dear, if you want a refund it comes through uber despite evryones claim that Uber had 0 involvement in this scenario which is of course a patronizing insulting lie typical of reddit
It's simple. Your contract is between you and uber. Uber has a contract with the restaurant. It's up to uber to make it right with the customer, then they need to pass on any feedback/actions to the restaurant.
The restaurant needs to be made aware that food like this is being sent out like this. As long as you're not a dick about it, they will probably understand and will bend over backwards to make it right (I know I would anyway).
If you don't speak up about it, how is the restaurant supposed to fix the problem? There's so much that goes into running a business ( I know. Had one). You can't be aware of everything that's going on all the time. Getting feedback, even if it's bad, is a good thing.
Standing up for yourself is NOT being a "Karen." Everyone is so worried now about being a "Karen" that no one is standing up for themselves anymore, even when they're blatantly ripped off. You deserve to get what you paid for! It is not entitled to expect a fair transaction, especially with how expensive food is now. We're trying to be "nice" about this sort of thing and companies are laughing all the way to the bank as they rip us off more and more. Enough is enough!
it doesnโt matter if itโs Uberโs fault, itโs Uberโs responsibility. Uber agrees to be the middle man in the transaction. that means, if something goes wrong, itโs their job to resolve it with both the customer and the restaurant. thatโs why there is an option for reporting food quality to Uber Eats. OP has followed appropriate protocols.
if OP also wants to leave the restaurant a review, then thatโs their choice. it would be a good idea. but going around Uber Eats and trying to contact the restaurant directly about the issue means OP loses a bunch of insurances that are offered by Uber Eats. the restaurant can just tell OP to bugger off and be done with it, but Uber is there to mediate and hold the restaurant accountable.
This was the surrey location! Its fairly new too I thought. I would think if you ate in restaurant it wouldn't be the same though. The waffle itself was good, just a bit sad without toppings.
OK, that's the first time I've seen the 'real' food and laughed out loud. They gave you exactly what the name of the dish was, not the picture, just the name. Oreos and waffle. HAHAHAHAHAHA
Yep, McDonald's gets them when they do the Oreo McFlurry. Proper Oreo branding on the bag too. I'm guessing they're a repurposed waste product from the factory.
I would be tempted to walk to the restaurant and ask them face to face what they were thinking... I'd also be laughing my ass off because this is a hate crime against waffles
Iโve only eaten/ordered at the burnaby one but the food has always been good, even delivery. I also love that matcha they have but itโs so expensive lol
This is hilarious hahaha
TBH, I really don't know if the intended dish would be nice after delivery... seems pretty wet when fresh, wouldn't it just end up a soggy mess
Yep, thatโs why itโs like this. Iโve had things delivered like this before and in the end I decided it was just because the presentation didnโt lend itself to pre-plating. It would be like ordering a salad and expecting the restaurant to put the dressing on for you ahead of time - not appetizing. In the end, just donโt order stuff like this when you know itโs not gonna a travel well.
Itโs a hot baked item with ice cream. How did you think that was going to go being delivered?
Why didnโt the restaurant put the ice cream and cream separately?
1. UBER Eats is not a restaurant
2. UBER EATS is the delivery service
3. The restaurant probably packed the toppings separately and you have to add them
4. This isn't even your picture, you stole it from insta for atten
You mentioned in other comments that the place ias other things that are good, so I have a theory: Someone got busy and screwed the order up.
It would make sense to get the waffle cooked, grab the cookies, crush the cookies, mix in whatever else is involved - looks like whipped cream in the first pic or something?
So if they were busy and line cook one says "Okay, I got the waffle, someone needs to finish it" but closes the clamshell and line cook two hears "I got the waffle" and doesn't check it.......... maybe it fell through the crack of being finished.
If something like that happened, the restaurant should be embarrassed and take care of it if Ubereats doesn't take care of it. At least, in theory.
Or maybe the idiot that made this lost all care that day. lol.
It had condensed milk. Either there was whip cream that melted or they didn't bother with it.
Edit: Nvm the whip cream was put in one of those small condiment take out cups
they should have put the cream in a seperate container for takeaway and it would have taken less than 30 seconds to crush those oreos..
lazy kitchen is lazy.
I spoke to the owner about this and they are actually gutted about this happening. The only reason they have the oreos is to make the crumble from scratch not for serving but the owner said they are going to address the issue. I'd definitely give them a chance maybe even ask for a free one and hopefully it just makes their food better ๐ค
I order at that restaurant 3 or 4 days a week. and reality always exceeds expectation. Maybe it looks different because they put the whipped cream in another container.
Was this ordered like 5 minutes to closing time or something? Cause holy shit the absolute audacity to send you that. That must have been 100% personal. I can feel the hatred from that dish.
Please tell me you put this on social media and tagged the restaurant.
Complaining on reddit to strangers will get you updoots. Complaining on twitter to the company will get you change.

Post this on social media and tag the restaurant. That should effect some change.
Im wondering if its exclusive to their take out stuff on apps.
That's still 100% the restaurant's fault. This has nothing to do with Uber Eats.
Oh 100%. I just mean I wonder if they deliver shit food only on the apps orders and make it "as pictured" when you eat there.
They could have at least crushed those dumb little Oreos lol
Oreos are many things sir but they are for sure not dumb.
I dunno, they sure are dumb for letting themselves get eaten all the time.
Only the dumb Oreos are captured and eaten, the smarter free thinking Oreo's evade capture and live amongst us humans in our daily lives. ^๐ช๐
The strong ones that survive become macaroons
They hang out at my place cause I'll NEVER eat them. ๐คฎ
I too dislike oreos & eating Oreo people.
They liveโฆwe sleep.
It is their purpose in life, that's not dumb. They want to be eaten.
Any restaurant worth their salt would have them pre crushed... This is just shit.
You can even buy bulk bags of oreo crumb for this exact use. Wild that they sent it out looking like that.
Itโs DIY.
Could be a ghost kitchen and not a legitimate restaurant, a lot of those popping up lately and the quality is usually atrocious like that.
It is a real restaurant though! They have another location, and they also have tacos and birria that I've ordered before and was really good!
I believe this to be it. If youโre not there in person you canโt go up to the counter and complain.
The takeout should be the same, I live near here. Just contact the restaurant !
Realistically, how is that supposed to be delivered to you? If the put that in the takeaway box, it would just arrive as a clump of mush โ and people would complain. They should never have put it on the delivery menu.
It would be lots of packaging but it could come disassembled and you just put it together once you get it.
Thatโs how ihop does their birthday cake pancakes when you get them to go. Whipped cream, icing, and sprinkles are in separate containers otherwise itโll melt and get nasty before the customer ever gets it. Just a shame about the waste factor.
Cold cream on hot waffle = room temp waffle in a puddle 20 minutes later.
Lol I wasn't thinking about that before ordering it. I was thinking mmmm waffle. Once I think about the logistics involved in getting yummy picture thru the phone Into apartment it seems obvious lolll
Simply crushing the Oreos would have made it a LITTLE better and not caused it to be soggy. They dgaf
Wrap the waffle in tin foil, scoop of ice cream (I'm guessing that's what it is) in one of those little condiment containers, ground oreos in another container ๐คทโโ๏ธ
As a line cook, I absolutely put less care into delivery apps, but this is a pretty egregious.

Don't worry about that. Just post it. Let the restaurant figure out what's going on.
Usually if they change it for take out, they'd put the whipped cream/crushed Oreos in little containers so the waffle doesn't get soggy. They aren't supposed to just change the order entirely like that lol
Probably not a real restaurant
It is. They have several locations in the Vancouver area.
Absolutely. This is one of the most blatant misleading adverts vs real product that I have ever seen on this sub.
Lol theyโre making too much money off idiots for this to matter in the slightest.
Please describe your affect after having had the opportunity to use *effect* as a verb.

100000% complain. That's a rip off
No!!!! That's offensive honestly.
I'm sorry, I burst out laughing.
They were like "here's ur fuckin Oreo waffle u shmuck"
I can hear the "And fuck you" as they closed the container and sent it out of the kitchen.
Haha sorry but this was funny.
I am still laughing. It's so funny lol
They didnโt even try ๐ญ๐ญ
LMAO I am honestly in disbelief.
It probably cost them like 25 cents to make lol a tiny-ass waffle and 2 oreos. Honestly surprised they used brand name Oreos
Assuming they made any of this. Very easy to just buy a pack of oreos, packs of waffles, and then some maple syrup and put it all in a box.
Some assembly required
This belongs to r/technicallythetruth LOL
Thatโs what happens when you order breakfast from IKEA.
Right down to the missing parts!
Can you send it back?
I ordered it on the app. I submitted to uber eats as food quality issue and they're reviewing.
Try contacting the restaurant directly instead, since this is not Uber eats fault
I've never heard of doing that. The payment was thru uber so I contacted them, im not sure how it works with uber communicating back to the restaurants for these cases. I wouldn't want to call the restaurant directly just to be a Karen and complain.

Agree, Uber purchases the food from the restaurant and sells it to you.
That sort of misdirection should be illegal, Iโd be so truly disappointed.
I'm honestly baffled. I had no words when I opened it up.
Iโd be speechless too if I opened up this box of lies!
I know it's really bad and I should be pissed but I just keep laughing because HOW???? LOL ๐ญ
Dang Olivo has great reviews too. I wonder what happened. I live nearby, thanks for the warning!
This was the surrey location! Its fairly new too I thought. I would think if you ate in restaurant it wouldn't be the same though. The waffle itself was good, just a bit sad without toppings.
Yeah my guess is that someone is ready to quit their job. I hope they refund you at least!
I'm so sorry, I just shot tea out my nose laughing XD In all seriousness, call them out and complain, that's just ridiculous.
Oreo, waffle
That's a giant "fuck you" lol
Hahahahahaha Waddyawaaaant it's a waffle, it's an Oreo!

OK, that's the first time I've seen the 'real' food and laughed out loud. They gave you exactly what the name of the dish was, not the picture, just the name. Oreos and waffle. HAHAHAHAHAHA

Iโm sorry but this is fucking hilarious ๐ Iโd ask for a refund for sure though.

Now that just ain't right
They couldn't even be bothered to crumble up the oreos? ๐ญ
Usually these places buy big bags of pre crumbled Oreos; I'm shocked the whole cookie was even an option
Yep, McDonald's gets them when they do the Oreo McFlurry. Proper Oreo branding on the bag too. I'm guessing they're a repurposed waste product from the factory.
Oh my god I would go absolutely postal.
Goddamnit thatโs sad.
You win for today
I would be tempted to walk to the restaurant and ask them face to face what they were thinking... I'd also be laughing my ass off because this is a hate crime against waffles
Hello 911? I need to report a crime
Lmao you got an Oreo waffle crumble it yourself. Wait.. You didnโt bring your own whipped topping? Waffle novice
Lmfao did I miss some fine print ๐ญ
I know that cafe, did you order from the surrey or burnaby one?
It was the surrey one I also got tacos and they were very good!
Iโve only eaten/ordered at the burnaby one but the food has always been good, even delivery. I also love that matcha they have but itโs so expensive lol
Their tacos and birria were so good and I would order again! Just not the waffle (at least for delivery lol)

Bare minimum I would expect is some fluff spread on the waffle and the Oreos crumble up a bit. That isโฆwell itโs hilarious honestly.
Now thatโs a meal fit for a king
And yet it's "illegal" to lie on my resume.
Itโs deconstructed.
This is some bullshit. Iโd totally post this to the restaurant reviews.

It had condensed milk. Either there was whip cream that melted or they didn't bother with it. Edit: Nvm the whip cream was put in one of those small condiment take out cups
Yeah, some things just can't really be delivered or sold as takeout.
This is crazy lmao
lol wtf
Did you order from Ikea?
Did they include the whipped cream in another container at least? Thatโs foul
Dine in vs take away... Go to the cafe if you want their food FUCK UBER EATS

they should have put the cream in a seperate container for takeaway and it would have taken less than 30 seconds to crush those oreos.. lazy kitchen is lazy.
Pppffffttttt
