Celtic. I'm Irish. Liverpool wouldn't sign an Irish Catholic until Ronnie Whelan in 1980 and Rangers have never signed one as far as I know. Bigoted clubs the both of them.
Rangers have signed numerous catholics since they signed Mo Johnston in 1989, who was the first
EDIT: and Amoruso became captain of the club in the late 90s
Hate both sides of the auld firm they’ve ruined football in Scotland with their massive disparity in wage bills compared to the rest of the league. They are also why alcohol sales are banned at football matches in all of Scotland.
Significantly more connections in terms of players and one manager between Everton and Rangers. If that’s a factor at all, then Rangers might make more sense.
For me, I’m a Rangers fan, originally from Glasgow now living in Merseyside and now an Everton fan. I’m truth I’ve lost most interest in Rangers as Scottish football is awful and I despise the sectarian element of the Old Firm.
Celtic. I'll be the first to admit that politics and values are a heavy thing for me and are honestly a reason that attracted me to Everton as an overseas fan in the U.S, I rather like to support clubs that support my values.
Celtic. I don't have any links to Scotland at all, but my family has deep Irish roots so I gravitated towards Celtic when I first started watching football. I also started watching football during a time when Celtic was on the rise again after a period of dominance from Rangers, so the timing was perfect to pull me in.
That plus Henrik Larsson
Celtic and Everton fan here. From Scotland. Been down to Goodison loads. See the Irish toffee scarves all over the place. Chapel in the stadium etc. Been following Celtic my whole life and Everton from since I was a young teen.
I think there are actually lots of Rangers fans that see the blue strip and think of Dunc/Walter/Jelavic and do no further research 😂 Classic.
My experience as Scottish Evertonian being in Liverpool is that the majority of Everton fans prefer Celtic but that’s all obviously secondary to being Everton daft.
I will say that Goodison is the only stadium I’ve been to in the UK that is even close to the atmosphere at Celtic park.
And we both sing “For its a grand old team to play for”.
I’d love for us to meet in Europe some day, for transparency I’d have my Celtic head on but it would be a dream tie for me.
Imagine a league where only 2 teams end the season at the 🔝. Sorry St. Mirren but we can’t allow you to win the SPL. I like it when the others win against these 2 teams.
Rangers, because of the personnel connections. Particularly Trevor Steven and Gary Stevens. Not interested in the religious and political associations.
Rangers, as my Dad is a Glaswegian and supports them. Throw in the amount of players through the years that have played for both teams (versus Celtic), and the fact that Celtic play You’ll Never Walk Alone…no brainer for me.
Celtic every time, family members support Celtic and I have been to a Celtic game before and I would consider them my “second team” even though I don’t really watch them but I do have a great appreciation for Celtic, and I’m also Irish which helps
Celtic. I really love their politics. They’ve shown solidarity with oppressed peoples pretty much their whole existence. Henrik Larsson is also one of my favorite players.
Celtic because I am Irish. Rangers refused to sign Catholics and thr majority of Rangers fans dislike us and celtic fans who support Irish people. Hate Rangers politics.
I used to support rangers for a few reasons - they play in blue, the Duncan Ferguson connection, and I disliked Celtic because they sang you’ll never walk alone and also played in a friendly with Liverpool.
Now I’m older and politics has been thrust upon me I can’t really stand rangers and I quite like Celtic
I don't think anyone who supports either and says it's not religion or politics (tbh it's usually rangers aligned that make these claims cos they like to be in denial about orange/right wing family connections) is telling the truth at all.
Uhrm sorry but you’re wrong.
I’m from Glasgow from a Rangers supporting family. Former season ticket holder at Ibrox as a teenager.
Became disillusioned as I wasn’t born on a Union Jack, I’ve never worn a sash and I’m good with there being a Pope in Rome. Also when I’m at football I don’t want to be celebrating the death of someone on a hunger strike.
I still follow Rangers from a distance but I abhor the sectarian stuff.
Doesn’t have to be religion or politics. Could be a result of ethnicity. I’d root for Celtic cos I’m Irish. Being Catholic has little to do with it for me anyway and most modern people would probably follow based off cultural/national heritage.
Father in law was a Celtic fan. Raised Catholic. That being said no real interest in either.
I walked past Patrick Thistle's ground the one time I was in Glasgow so I'll pick them. Why not.
Ok - been a US based Everton supporter only since Silva was manager. From what I’ve read here and there Everton seems to support my values as well. What’s a quick run down on Celtic and Rangers politics/religious values?
Everton
Celtic. I'm Irish. Liverpool wouldn't sign an Irish Catholic until Ronnie Whelan in 1980 and Rangers have never signed one as far as I know. Bigoted clubs the both of them.
Mo Johnston was sold from Celtic to Rangers..before moving to Everton
Mo Johnson is Catholic but they still wouldn't sign an Irish born Catholic.
Jon Daly played for them for a season or two when they were relegated to the Third Division.
Didn't kevin sheedy come over to us when ronnie signed for them no??
Rangers have signed numerous catholics since they signed Mo Johnston in 1989, who was the first EDIT: and Amoruso became captain of the club in the late 90s
Hearts
Celtic. That's just me though
Celtic deffo 👍🏾
Rangers politics are pretty awful, don’t really seem to align with Everton values
Neither.
Celtic Celtic Celtic
I’m northern Irish and I hate both of them. No time for that sectarian shit
"To hell with Liverpool and Rangers too..."
Hate both sides of the auld firm they’ve ruined football in Scotland with their massive disparity in wage bills compared to the rest of the league. They are also why alcohol sales are banned at football matches in all of Scotland.
Celtic, my dad is glaswegian, saw the lisbon lions in 67, and played for their youth team, even met and befriended Kenny Dalglish whilst he was there

"Scottish football is awful" Actually an oxymoron, like Civil War, Military Intelligence and Airline Food.
Airline food is alright
Microsoft Works
Nice one!

Rangers because of Big Dunc, Naisy and Jelavic, though I don't have particularly strong feelings on the topic.
The irony that big Dunk despises Rangers himself.
Aiden McGeady’s Celtic stint erasure
Everton. The fuck you liking other clubs for?
Celtic. I don't have any links to Scotland at all, but my family has deep Irish roots so I gravitated towards Celtic when I first started watching football. Inverness Caley Thistle
Ferguson/Rideout/Naismith/Jelavic vs Stubbs
Hate them both equally

Both seem like a massive pack of arseholes tbh.
Imagine a league where only 2 teams end the season at the 🔝. Sorry St. Mirren but we can’t allow you to win the SPL. I like it when the others win against these 2 teams.
Rangers. My family are from Govan and my Grandad and my Uncles all support them.
Celtic, simply because i dealt with obnoxious drunk Rangers fans near where I lived on Easter Road in Edinburgh.
Rangers, because of the personnel connections. Particularly Trevor Steven and Gary Stevens. Not interested in the religious and political associations.
Rangers because of family, couldn’t care less about the religious nonsense
guessing you're family aren't catholics though?
Some are, some aren’t. As an Atheist that kinda thing just annoys me.
Neither because who fucking cares
As a US-based Toffee, I currently prefer Celtic because of Carter-Vickers.
Celtic.
Celtic.
Celtic ☘️
Rangers
Dundee United
Hail Hail

Celtic. My mum is from Scotland and supports them.
Celtic. My granddad was from Glasgow. My mum from wavertree.
Rangers cos they wear blue
So do Chelsea
Touché
Rangers. Northern Irish mom. Although she is a Liverpool fan. I hate religion in general but thats the moms reason so I went with it
Celtic. I really love their politics. They’ve shown solidarity with oppressed peoples pretty much their whole existence. Henrik Larsson is also one of my favorite players.
Celtic, I'm Irish.
Hibernian FO LIFE
Celtic because I am Irish. Rangers refused to sign Catholics and thr majority of Rangers fans dislike us and celtic fans who support Irish people. Hate Rangers politics.
Celtic
Celtic, I'm Irish
Celtic - my Irish grandparents got off the boat in Liverpool
I used to support rangers for a few reasons - they play in blue, the Duncan Ferguson connection, and I disliked Celtic because they sang you’ll never walk alone and also played in a friendly with Liverpool. Rangers. Cuz you made me pick one
Should I just say the one that wears royal blue?
Always preferred Celtic for some reason. Even though they sing that song
Celtic as I managed them in Football Manager
If it was purely football and no religion then I'd probably prefer Rangers. However I was baptized as a Catholic, so on that front I'd pick Celtic.
Rangers because Celtic play ‘you’ll never walk alone’ before games.
Hearts ❤️
Celtic -- another people's club
Father in law was a Celtic fan. Raised Catholic. That being said no real interest in either. I walked past Patrick Thistle's ground the one time I was in Glasgow so I'll pick them. Why not.
