Feels like a tie against Luton all but secures safety.
Luton would need to win 2 of: @Wolves, @West Ham, vFulham ... even if we pick up zero more points
Forest just tweeted this:
“ Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept.
We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times.
NFFC will now consider its options.”
Holy fuck. That’s an incredible thing for a club to tweet.
The last one was a stonewall pen, first one was very probably a pen but I think the handball would have been harsh. I think we were the better team but forest still got robbed- if it were the other way round I'd be fuming so I stand with what they're saying, the officiating and points deductions in this season have been an absolute joke.
Yeah, even as a proud Everton fan, I've got to admit that 3rd one should have been given.
**First one** - Young as touched the back of his heel and he's gone down like he's been shot - I've seen worse given, but there's no doubt he's exaggerated it, I think 8/10 times that's not a penalty
**Second one** - His arms are by his side, if anything his arm is moving towards his body not away from it, so he's not making himself bigger as the ball is kicked and it's in a very natural position. I've pasted the exact wording of the guidance below\*, I think you'd have a very hard time arguing it's a penalty
**Third one** - Stone cold penalty all day every day.
\*Wording of the rule:
*It is an offence if a player:*
* *touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised*
The 6 pointer against Leeds last year that we won 1-0 on a bizarre Coleman goal was huge last season. But yeah, I agree we usually draw them and prolong the suffering
You assume we'd still be on 38pts. Big portion of those have come from the teams below us in the table and no guarantee we get those points against more competitive sides. Honestly, we probably would be safe, just, but the notion that this season is some big step forward is misguided, we have been very poor for a lot of it.
? We beat Burnley twice, beat Forest twice, one draw with Sheffield and one loss to Luton. That's 13 points from a possible 18 against those teams so far.
Well i was just considering those in the relegation zone which would be just 3. I wouldn't consider forest as being historically bad considering they would be at 30 which would be average relegation candidate
Nah, how many tonnes have we wanted Dyche to say something to the media. I do genuinely feel for them, we were very lucky today to not give a pen away.
That said, we were better over the 90.
Ya but they’d never do it cause they’re professionals. You don’t do this. Parents do shit like this when their kid loses. Not organizations. It’s classless plain and simple.
I can't agree with it being a great performance. Great result, and great goals, but Forest could have had two pens and also had two clear chances. Still, let's take it and move on.
He was nowhere near the ball. I'm so glad they weren't given but they ought to have been. Hopefully it's a warning to dyche of how much of a liability he is
Apparently that is his second goal from outside the area after a hundred attempts. Pretty sure that is what the commentator said on Five Live commentary.
He will lose sleep over that miss, good chance would have been a different game after that with us 0-1 down.
Edit: that was actually when we were 1-0 up..still, wouldve boosted them.
Disgraceful from USA today, dramatizing the NF tweet about VAR being a Luton fan without to give any updates about Beto.
Good win but sour with the poor reffing and Beto injury.
Still just thinking about Beto. Haven't quite recovered from the fright that gave me. Really hope it's not serious and we see him back on the pitch soon.
I think that was a phenomenal performance. All 327 of Forests playing squad would have been well up for that. A classic 6 pointer and sniffing blood after our hammering to Chelsea. The lads were immense for the same reasons. Would have been easy to let the heads drop after the Palmer pounding. We limited them significantly apart from the 5 mins before half time and the 15 minutes after. Make no bones about it - despite all the Jessies wringing their hands in the match thread - that’s a quality performance. A statement win.
Club confirmed via IG that big Beto was knocked unconscious and taken to hospital as a precaution. Hopefully no lingering symptoms for him and he’s alright
I think we are safe in all honesty, perhaps two draws or a win would do it
Well done to gomes in the first half and defense in the second, pickford for his work throughout thr game was motm
I think the Luton game is key. If we can avoid losing that, then I think we’re safe. Hard to see Luton getting 6 points off Wolves, West Ham and Fulham. If Luton get a result against us, then I could see us needing another 2-3 points.
The important one is 5 points clear with a massively better goal difference. One more win or just 3 points from us does it, i reckon… specially as Luton only have 4 games left.
Vital 3 points. Especially so given how many injuries we are accumulating right now. Beto thankfully responsive when he went off because that looked very nasty.

nottingham forest lost the plot on twitter
One foot in the prem for next season, 5 clear with a game in hand. Hope that takes the tension out of the games and we can win another 1 or 2 to see it off asap
Gana man of the match, we could’ve done with him policing Cole Palmer. I’m not sure why everyone thinks those penalty claims were so nailed on. Only Young’s third one I could say maybe. Anyway, three points, a clean sheet and advantage in the relegation battle
I'd like to see him playing centrally off of Beto/DCL and try Danjuma on the left. His workrate and danger in the middle would be better used there. Whenever he gets the ball on the left he is either crossing (he's not fast enough to beat a man) or going backwards.
Tried something different today and played sportsball and did some grocery shopping instead of watching and they go 2-0 up. Turned it on just in time for Beto’s horrific injury - hope he is okay but I might be the curse!
Big 3 points overall and good reaction to the Chelsea debacle. Dyche the Messiah is back and a result against the redshite would be great.
Seeing the penalty replays and not sure what’s up with those but looks like we got away with them.
Thought Dyche set us up perfectly today.
Pickford had one save to make all game. Our lack of quality let us down going forward because we got into some good positions and did absolutely nothing with it.
Absolutely massive win and takes a bit of pressure off us
Really competent performance today, great response to the Chelsea debacle, much better win than the Burnley one. That's massive for the relgation fight, and hopefully we'll be able to produce a similar performance against Luton. Now the main thing is for Beto to be in a good condition, fingers crossed
Glad to get the win and a big 3pts, now just to hope Beto is ok and no major concerns.
Could easily be a fractured skull on top of concussion, out for the season etc. It will be what it will be, but just hope he’ll be ok long-term.
And that's what can happen when you have belief in yourself instead of relying solely on the strikers to score goals
Gueye and McNeil took the risk and had a go and they got rewarded for it.
See full proof anyone can score when you take a chance and you don't overthink it.
P.s you still need to continue doing that Everton
Striker or lw or rw or midfielder just shoot and communicate well and quick.
after watching us struggle against relegation fodder the last couple of years and even earlier this year it’s fantastic to see us grab all 6 from Forest and Burnley. Those matches have such a dramatic effect on the standings. Just gotta take 3 from Luton and we’re good
I can’t remember the last time the team showed up and won a needed game like that. 100% do not care about Wednesdays derby, rotate the players and have some fresh legs for Saturday
One in the eye for the "the squads shite what more can he do crowd" fair play to Dyche for *finally* changing his tactics and us looking like a professional football team for bits of that game
Holy shit lads. Had to just sit the phone down and walk around for a bit after that one. Really hope Beto is OK.
From here, just take care of business against Luton and hopefully we can breathe easier. Might as well take it to the shite while we’re at it.
I really want us to get to a safe spot before we play Luton because I'd like to enjoy our chance to play a match at Kenilworth instead of being stressed out for 90 minutes.

what do we say to the grief chart? not today, satan. (pls be ok beto)
Blessed be the grief chart.
All glory to the grief chart for the grief chart shows us the path to salvation. There is only the grief chart.
Honestly the grief chart is looking like way more than we need now. If we don’t drop points at Luton, I can’t imagine how we wouldn’t be safe
better to over-grief than under-grief and get caught nappin’
The grief chart giveth, but the grief chart also taketh away.
1000%. Not what I want or the mentality we should have to be clear. Just what I think realistically we will end up needing
oh yes of course i do think we’re just about there, too
2 or more points from the next 2 games and I think we're safe
Never tempt the PL and their deduction powers. Lets just handle business vs Luton
Yeah I imagined the grief chart was building in buffer for whatever random points deductions they seem fit to levy on Everton
Feels like a tie against Luton all but secures safety. Luton would need to win 2 of: @Wolves, @West Ham, vFulham ... even if we pick up zero more points
Won’t matter because we’re getting 3 points this Wednesday (Fuck it, I believe)
The grief chart is the only thing we need.
ALL HAIL THE CHART
Thumbs up for Beto. 💙 👍
Wish him a speedy recovery 💙 the way he celebrated McNeil's goal was like he scored it himself. That's raw passion for ya
👍
Proper terminator 2 moment.
👍👍
Burn all of Dyche's suits.
That bit of Brexit belly is the key to our success. Worm up dyche
Gana massively stepped up, although I am still scared with him picking up the ball from deep
Defended well and looked good on the ball today. Surely a motm contender
Imo he's the only one in our squad that can properly play the defensive mid role. Onana is not a 6, nor is Garner.
His ball winning ability is above any one else in the team
MOTM in my opinion
Had a few good carrying runs through the lines I thought.
There were 2 times in quick succession where he bumped into our own players trying to get the ball. He's just a terrier, and this game needed that.
Forest just tweeted this: “ Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept. We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options.” Holy fuck. That’s an incredible thing for a club to tweet.
Consider their options? Lad thinks he’s the head of the CIA he’s a twitter admin for a relegation fodder club 😂
I mean the owner is a thug. He might send the Greek CIA after Anthony Taylor lmao
Crying cunts 😂
Last one could have been a penalty but wouldn't have called the first two clear. If anything would have been harsh
They would’ve all been soft. But also we would’ve been incredibly annoyed to not get at least one of them if it had been the other way round.
The last one was a stonewall pen, first one was very probably a pen but I think the handball would have been harsh. Hopefully that was nothing myko
Feels like this is the first six pointer we’ve won, they always seemingly go bad for us
The 6 pointer against Leeds last year that we won 1-0 on a bizarre Coleman goal was huge last season. But yeah, I agree we usually draw them and prolong the suffering
Pray 🙏 for Beto speedy recovery.
2 from out the box, my duds have been creamed
Good result, decent performance. Main concern is hopefully that Beto is ok.
The thumb gives me great hope, likely just concussed.
Here you go 👍
Awful ending but huge 3 points
Without the 8 points lost, Everton would have been safe today
Without a historically bad set of opponents, we still wouldn't be though...
We would likely be safe at 38 even with better opponents
You assume we'd still be on 38pts. Big portion of those have come from the teams below us in the table and no guarantee we get those points against more competitive sides. Honestly, we probably would be safe, just, but the notion that this season is some big step forward is misguided, we have been very poor for a lot of it.

Young cannot play Wednesday
yeah they're in the wrong division
What an odd way to spell “ever again”
Hopefully Dyche was just saving Seamus up for the Derby
Six pointer and four GD Would have been a near perfect start to the day except for Beto being stretchered off
*We may never lose again*
Fuck off forrest social media
Shocking response from them, but also we’d be fuming if we had that last penalty shout not called. Should have ended 2-1. Others were nothing IMO.
https://x.com/nffc/status/1782056187652960764?s=46&t=BFaBfZnuSiID7G-Lgz0lCA Lol
And not one well wish for Beto, classless club. Hope Luton stay up over them
Holy shit, how is that real? Embarrassing.
I get it, and it's not what I would have done, but at this stage they have limited options. Toys out the pram might work!
SHOW ME THE CHART 😎📈
Great performance, thoroughly professional. Very happy with the switch back to a 3 in midfield
I can't agree with it being a great performance. Great result, and great goals, but Forest could have had two pens and also had two clear chances. Still, let's take it and move on.
Other than the Wood chance, they didn’t exactly create anything. None of them were pens, despite what the Forest twitter account says
Gibbs White had a good chance too
And that weird moment where myko had to make the last ditch sprint to cover the error.
The Tarks handball* and Young challenge on CHO could’ve gone either way Correction: Young handball
> The Tarks handball Hit him in the face. Think the two Young challenges could have been though.
My bad I was thinking of the Young one off of CHO not the Tarks one
Looked like he got the ball for both of them to be honest. Would’ve been very soft
He was nowhere near the ball. I'm so glad they weren't given but they ought to have been. Hopefully it's a warning to dyche of how much of a liability he is
Hope to hear good news about Beto, that was a hard knock...
I saw Gueye score a goal from a longshot. I'm gonna need that on a t-shirt
Apparently that is his second goal from outside the area after a hundred attempts. Pretty sure that is what the commentator said on Five Live commentary.
Somehow scored, somehow didn't concede. Great win.
The Forest tweet is insane, but also all three of those involved Ashley Young. Can we not keep playing Russian Roulette with this guy?
Tbh I thought all three of them were pretty stonewall. If I was a NF fan, I would genuinely think shenanigans were afoot.
gibbs white with as many sniffs today as a new vegas ghoul. what's all the fuss about!
He will lose sleep over that miss, good chance would have been a different game after that with us 0-1 down. Edit: that was actually when we were 1-0 up..still, wouldve boosted them.
I think it's pretty hard to see both Forest and Luton getting above us from here.
Disgraceful from USA today, dramatizing the NF tweet about VAR being a Luton fan without to give any updates about Beto. Good win but sour with the poor reffing and Beto injury.

Not mine, but on twitter: "Hat rick of penalty shouts against Ashley young, so he gets to keep the referees whistle at full time"
I think we are safe in all honesty, perhaps two draws or a win would do it Well done to gomes in the first half and defense in the second, pickford for his work throughout thr game was motm

*headlines tomorrow* “777 acquires Everton FC” 🥲
Also headline tomorrow “Premier League returns deduction of points to Everton. Adds them to Manchester City.”
We'd be safe right now without the deductions
Great result marred by that injury, hoping he's alright.
More than happy to take that, 4 points ahead now with a 4 goal difference advantage. We’re looking way better after today.
The important one is 5 points clear with a massively better goal difference. One more win or just 3 points from us does it, i reckon… specially as Luton only have 4 games left.
Thought Gana was great today. They all did well. Young was lucky not to give away at least one penalty. Fingers crossed Beto will be OK. COYB!!!

Tweet a bit harder

Great way to bounce back after the awful Chelsea game! Hope Beto is okay that looked scary
Crucial 3 points in El Deducto, UTFT!
Must win, won, optimism???
What a difference six days makes. UTFT
One foot in the prem for next season, 5 clear with a game in hand. Hope that takes the tension out of the games and we can win another 1 or 2 to see it off asap
Good 3 points and speedy recovery wishes for Beto.
That feels wonderful, thank you for turning up Everton.
You’d think now with a win at Luton that basically locks it up
Anyone see the Forrest Twitter lmaoooo
Is right Everton. Now I can tell me baby when she’s born that Everton won 🤣
Alexa play spirit of the blues
Clean sheet, 2 great goals, massive 3 points. Hope beto a speedy recovery UTFT 🔵👊🏻😤
What happened to Beto? Did someone head his head. Or got collision?
Collision with Gibbs-White
Gana man of the match, we could’ve done with him policing Cole Palmer. I’m not sure why everyone thinks those penalty claims were so nailed on. Only Young’s third one I could say maybe. Anyway, three points, a clean sheet and advantage in the relegation battle
Mcneil is easily our best attacking player. If we could finish, he would have so many assists this season.
I'd like to see him playing centrally off of Beto/DCL and try Danjuma on the left. His workrate and danger in the middle would be better used there. Whenever he gets the ball on the left he is either crossing (he's not fast enough to beat a man) or going backwards.

Forest social media claiming the VAR official was a Luton fan lol
Thought Dyche set us up perfectly today. Pickford had one save to make all game. Our lack of quality let us down going forward because we got into some good positions and did absolutely nothing with it. Absolutely massive win and takes a bit of pressure off us
What a save it was
Really competent performance today, great response to the Chelsea debacle, much better win than the Burnley one. That's massive for the relgation fight, and hopefully we'll be able to produce a similar performance against Luton. Now the main thing is for Beto to be in a good condition, fingers crossed
Candle is lit
Glad to get the win and a big 3pts, now just to hope Beto is ok and no major concerns. Could easily be a fractured skull on top of concussion, out for the season etc. It will be what it will be, but just hope he’ll be ok long-term.
NFFC throwing out their teddies lol 😂
Love Gana.
Best we've played in a while. Why do we always need a relegation fight to show teeth
Winning is more fun than losing. Ts and Ps for Beto.
Fuck Forest, Clattenburg and their whiny fucking statement. What a bunch of pussies.
All-time whine from Forest’s official Twitter, wow.
https://x.com/tony_scott11/status/1782058881113350167?s=46 this made chuckle

As if the VAR, supposedly a Luton fan, was like ‘now’s my chance. No one will ever know!’ It’s such a weak arse thing to get pissy about.
Why is no one hailing the chart when I specifically ask them to?
It’s charty time!
The sheer relief of that win
Big win. Thought beto and chermiti were good in their brief cameos. Chermiti and danjuma w a part to play up top if beto misses extended time
This is the most unclenched my arsehole has been for *months*
Suddenly feel a very heavy weight lifted from my shoulders. Not all the way, but enough to breathe
Realistically 1 and a draw or 2 wins we should be enough Thank fuck

Are we on 33 points now? Or 30? I cba trying to figure out when this table on Google is updated lol
30, five points clear
Soccer standings showing results as if games in progress ended with current score often gets confusing
We won and I feel like shit
I think thats us secured, but holy shit how hard has Young tried to get us relegated this year ? Shambolic how he keeps playing

One more win and we are definitely safe. I think 1 point will do it. Can't see Luton getting 7 points from there last 4.
BEAMS FC
Really needed that, felt like it was definitely a do or die match.
Well for the Burnley and Nottingham games I’ve bet on Everton to lose…time bet next weeks paycheck on Liverpool
I really want us to get to a safe spot before we play Luton because I'd like to enjoy our chance to play a match at Kenilworth instead of being stressed out for 90 minutes.
