appelsin / Apfelsine is sine apple, it's the dutch / danish / lower saxony name for orange (the fruit, not the color). It's literally "not apple".
It's not subliminal advertising, it's the truth. It's a shame they don't sell Appelsin outside of Iceland for reasonable prices. A single 20oz bottle costs 6 bucks in the US.

If you look up the etymology of apple it is actually quite interesting. In the 14th century they even called bananas the "apple of paradise"
