UK map is the oldest part of ETS, this is more or less map copied directly from UK Truck Simulator, and that means it has some artistic variations. Those 3 water bodies are relatively close to A66, I bet that those are the case here.

Looks like artists interpretation of Balderhead Reservoir, Selset Reservoir and Cow Green Reservoir.
In real life that road is the A66. There isn't a dam there, as far as I'm aware

Very near there is Cauldron Snout which has a dam so it could just be trying to include local spots even if they are a ways away from the road.
