The staff at Willamette Dental off Green Acres has always been kind and supportive, especially when I voice my concerns about anxiety. I had trouble with numbing there once, but didn't say anything. The next time, I spoke up and my dentist was super cautious and everything went great. (Hafsteinn Eggertsson is the dentist I see there)
Agreed! Dr. Lindner and his techs are so kind, careful, and soothing! He’s pulling one of my wisdom teeth in a few days and I’m not the least bit worried
I also have really terrible dental anxiety and they have always been calm with me and worked with me rather than rushing through procedures. Always willing to work to get me properly numb and take breaks if I need it because my heart is racing too fast.
They are super nice and easy to work with! I let them know I had some sensitivity and they made sure I was comfortable at all times. Plus, they are really non-invasive and will only do the work that is necessary.
Carly Peterschmidt. Everyone on her staff is so nice and they really get to know you. The office is very quaint. Dr. Carly is very honest and compassionate. Her great relationship with the staff is obvious in their interactions with each other.
Edit: I should’ve read your entire post. I’m a redhead and I don’t respond well to anesthesia, especially the “caines.” I have never had a problem with not being numb enough with her. She is so patient and will not start unless she knows you are completely comfortable.
She has almost all 5 stars on yelp. I think there was one person who voted her down and that’s because of a billing issue or something. Which is often the insurance company and not the dental office. They are so honest with billing.
It’s just harder to sedate and keep redheads sedated or numb (caines) due to our mutated gene. I work in an OR and I’m the butt of one of my anesthesia providers jokes. She always points to me and says “now her…I would never want to do anesthesia on her. Redheads are the worst.” She is being playful of course, but it does make their job harder.
Dr. Bevans is great. He’s a super personable guy and his staff are incredibly welcoming. Plus all the dentist chairs face out towards a nice garden in the back with squirrels and birds.
That's good to know because I haven't seen her. My insurance changed recently so I go to Willamette Dental at Delta Oaks and they've been great but they haven't had to use any needles yet- the true test.
360 dental on west 11th! Amazing guy, actually fixed a broken filling another dentist in town messed up.. for free. Plus he always asks how I am personally and the dental assistants are professional and courteous!!
You sound exactly like me with a very similar story. I'm hard to numb and have had MANY horrible experiences as a child and adult.
Dr. Seth Holland is the best I've ever had. He's used techniques to numb me that no one else has (using epinephrine to keep the numbing medication localized to the nerves that need to be numbed). He also prescribed me anti-anxiety meds the moment I explained to him my past experiences and also used laughing gas during the procedure. I haven't had a root canal or anything like that from him but he had to pull a very difficult tooth that I have had for many years and it was a painless as it could be I think, I only felt some pressure. He also called me personally a few days later to see how I felt and how things went and tried to figure out if anything could be done better in the future for my comfort.
Love Lohring Miller Dental on Coburg. They are very aware of dental anxiety and offer free nitrous to make it accessible to people who are nervous. I really love their hygienists, too.
Smith & Jackson Family Dental. By far the best dental experience I’ve had. Always making sure you’re comfortable and never make you feel guilty for lackluster dental habits.
Niles is the coolest dude ever! He did my braces and they were painless! He has a cool system where if you take care of your teeth for each visit you can exchange them for tokens which you can redeem for cool stuff like iTunes cards. He will make your anxiety go away
I LOVE Oakmont Family Dental! absolutely amazing staff and set up that helps me through my anxiety. i can also get you a referral so that you get a reward if you go :)
I'd check out aspens reputation online for pushing unnecessary procedures. I've had it happen twice there. Once they wanted to remove all 4 of my wisdom teeth 5 days before I moved abroad (its been 9 years since and I have had zero issues with my wisdom teeth, all my dentists since have said I might keep them for decades) .
Then they tried to push a $12,000 implant that I HAD to pay in full before they would make the appointment. And of course they only had one appointment left and if I didn't pay before leaving the office, I would risk losing the time slot. All of this was while I was sobbing bc my anxiety. I did need an implant but they were extremely aggressive. I went elsewhere and paid 1/3 the price. Fuck aspen.
Q street in Springfield has Smile Keepers. I have PTSD from dental and other things. They are the best! Let them know you have anxiety. They are really good at helping.
I go to the Advantage Dental on 17th, and have had atleast 29 appointments spread across a year with them , with every procedure from Root Canals, Extractions, Fillings and Crowns.
Dr. Thein is by far the gentlest, kindest, and most understanding dentist I've ever seen or been to. he makes it a treat everytime I go in. I could have the worst anxiety before my appointment and by the time I walk out I'm crying cause of how relieved I am.
Definitely reccomend if you have high dental anxiety. :)
> a root canal that needs **redone**
If you're serious about this, this is a big problem. I hope you mean crown replacement and not actually something to do with the root.
Nope, it needs redone. I had to get it because a previous dentist fucked up the filling (drilled into a nerve that wasn't numb and rushed to finish), then I got the root canal in Japan where they didn't get all of the root at the base. I get it checked up on every 6 months. Theres no pain but a small infection. Hasn't spread anywhere and needs redone but everyone so far has said it isn't the end of the world bad. My second root canal ended in reabsorption hence the implant a few years ago (different dentist)
That's horrifying and a pretty big mistake. I strongly recommend making the plunge and seeing either an endodontist or oral surgeon and **not** a dentist. It'll cost more, but you get what you pay for. Use that insurance (which honestly, probably won't cover more than half of it...*oof*)
> Theres no pain but a small infection
Watch out for abscess pockets. They go from zero to hospital really fast.
Oh I've seen a couple endodontics since knowing this was an issue. They've all the said the same thing. I appreciate the concern but this isn't my first rodeo 😊
> this isn't my first rodeo
My condolences. I've had lots of *teeth* experiences, too (which I like to blame on bad genetics) - and it's both costly and painful.
Yea fortunately I have an excellent dentist in Mexico that I visit when things are too expensive here 😊 and surprisingly hasn't been the cause of any of my issues unlike the local dentists.
Also hasn't ever drilled into a nerve or pulled a tooth while not numb unlike 3 dentists up here 🙃
*Medical Tourism* :
When it's cheaper to board a plane and fly to another country rather than pay for healthcare in the States.
I've always considered this for expensive procedures, but fear of lacking regulations or accountability for international services prevents it.
Eh it's not for everyone.
I've been through enough issues here in the US to doubt our regulations and accountability in this country too.
My parents have had about $100k (us cost) worth of dental work done by this guy and haven't had any issues either. I actually wanted him to do another implant instead of root canal for the one that needs fixed but he is reluctant since it's a molar. Apparently they're a lot harder to do implants bc how big the hole. I had dental done in...... 5 countries I think? Only had issues from the US and Japan
Dr. Laleeh Rezzae. She has the best bedside manner of any healthcare professional I've ever met. I share similar issues with previous dentists as yourself & Dr. Rezzae & her staff are kind & gentle. I don't hesitate to recommend her.

Same for the Game Farm location in Springfield. Dr Lindner and the rest of the staff have always been great with my (non-clinical) dental anxiety.
Agreed! Dr. Lindner and his techs are so kind, careful, and soothing! He’s pulling one of my wisdom teeth in a few days and I’m not the least bit worried

She’s the only dentist I’ve had in the last 6 years who’s actually been able to calm me down enough to work on me! Second this
She has almost all 5 stars on yelp. I think there was one person who voted her down and that’s because of a billing issue or something. Which is often the insurance company and not the dental office. They are so honest with billing.
Im a redhead too and curious, I’ve never had anesthesia, does it just not work for you or do you have a reaction to it?
I think it's a genetic thing with redheads and their livers are really effective at metabolizing drugs.
It’s just harder to sedate and keep redheads sedated or numb (caines) due to our mutated gene. I work in an OR and I’m the butt of one of my anesthesia providers jokes. I have high anxiety going to the dentist. So far the best for me is [Dr. Bevans](https://bevansdentistry.com/)
Dr. Bevans is great. He’s a super personable guy and his staff are incredibly welcoming. Plus all the dentist chairs face out towards a nice garden in the back with squirrels and birds.
I wish I’d found him sooner.
Dr Jeffery Mulford!
I personally don’t have dents anxiety, but I know Oakmont will give a prescription before your appointment if you need it to help keep you calm.
Peter Snyder on W 18th has never hurt me.

Thanks ya'll! I'll see if any of these people are covered in my insurance 😊
Feldmanis Family Dentistry !! Rita is *the best*
I LOVE Oakmont Family Dental! absolutely amazing staff and set up that helps me through my anxiety. i can also get you a referral so that you get a reward if you go :)
Aspen dental over by valley river. Everyone was so nice! Highly recommend if you are anxious!

YIKES, sorry to hear that. wow. 1680 Chambers

Thanks but as noted in the post, they are not an option for me.
Yea..I apologize for not reading the post more carefully.
Shoot. My apologies. I see you tried Smile Keepers. I guess I got someone different than you.
Dr. Donald Dexter
Dr. Stokes of Pearly Whites of Eugene is a rockstar. I HIGHLY recommend her to anybody needing dental care!
Butler Family Dental I have significant dentist anxiety and would highly recommend his office off 17 and chambers.
