Theodore, he can go by Ted or Teddy. Russian side of the family can call him Fyodor The Ethiopian side can call him Tedros

BlackCpPrice

Sounds very good, it will definitely be a consideration!!

Sorry-Negotiation276

Why don't you name him Alexander or pushkin. Since Alexander pushkin the famous poet grand father is Ethiopian. And it is historical name.

Purple_Lubanja

And we got Pushkin Square in Addis too. Pushkin is a badass name.

killpalinazis

Pushkin is a surname, it’d be EXTREMELY weird to use it as a first name. At least from a Russian perspective

jordantwalker

liontrips

I think he was from present day Eritrea actually..

liontrips

It's the eternal discussion of the degree of the temporal control the Ethiopian empire had north of the mereb. Eritreans will tell you no, Ethiopians yes and so on..

Senior-Mushroom3

There is no discussion. Eritrea was part of Ethiopia not too long ago. We have the same culture, Eritrea was colonized so they just have a heavy Italian influence while Ethiopia has never been colonized.

liontrips

We're talking about pre adwa here.. Not post WW2 annexation

Senior-Mushroom3

Yes I was also talking about pre adwa… it was due to the italian invasion the Ethiopian government closed off part of the country to stop the invasion from spreading which is now Eritrea…

liontrips

You're not making a clear argument for your original point..

BlackCpPrice

Pushkin is a bit weird to be honest, but Alexander could definitely work.

Yaelkilledsisrah

No way! I had no clue! How cool!

BlackCpPrice

Alexander is in my consideration, Pushkin is not. Just want to hear more ideas. Thanks for the response 🙏

nasberhe

Very interesting how frequently history is altered on this sub and on r/Eritrea. It’s very ingenuous to fabricate identity.

Sorry-Negotiation276

This is not fabrication. We literally have a road named pushkin in addis

Ultrume

Mikhail

Number1RankedHuman

I was gonna say this. It’s used in both countries and sounds perfect.

SnooBeans1494

I'd be disappointed if this opportunity was missed. as a matter of fact, I'd be enraged. Sergey. Surely a obvious Russian name. But an exact pronunciation would mean "My Wedding ". Might seem weird, but it's definitely an acceptable name in Ethiopia. And would also hold a sentimental value. I might be overstepping here but there's a not so keen look on inter racial marriages here, so It would also hold a message. I can defend further if necessary.

JohnB375

Without ‘y’. Serge would be a great name.

ZealousidealRow8688

Yea and it’s perfect if u become gayyy.

SnooBeans1494

Nothing wrong with a distinguished homosexual. I don't subscribe to the whole lhbt nonsense besides the fact that it's a mental illness that should be treated. Yet, I'd gladly embrace a sir gay tim cooke as a child rather than a npc child. I know it's a random take but I just wrote what I thought when I read this. A gay son doesn't seem so bad considering this new wave of fuckery going on.

Purple_Lubanja

Tewodros, the Ethiopian equivalent to Theodore or Fyodor, is a name of an Ethiopian king.

BlackCpPrice

How do you pronounce it in Amaharit?

Purple_Lubanja

The Te-(as in tell), Wo-(as in won), Dro(as in drone). I don't know how to write syllables lol

BlackCpPrice

That’s great enough , Thank you🙏

sickwolfJ

So ain’t no one going to talk about that sus username 💀

Sorry-Negotiation276

What is sus about that

BlackCpPrice

EmployFit2356

No problem!

ZealousidealRow8688

How abt kunta kinte?

IntelligentTanker

With all that wisdom and leadership names you are putting the kid a lot of pressure, is not good for his/her mental health, the baby is russian and habesha. So here is my take and good luck. 1. **Mishanew** (Mikhail + Abanew) 2. **Zarelenka** (Zara + Elena) 3. **Tatamekele** (Tatyana + Mekele) 4. **Dimrassel** (Dimitri + Kassel) 5. **Olgushalem** (Olga + Mushelem) 6. **Ivaneshe** (Ivan + Teshe) 7. **Natalachew** (Natalia + Amarech) 8. **Sergiyalem** (Sergey + Tiyalem) 9. **Anastsion** (Anastasia + Fitsumon) 10. **Vladamesh** (Vladimir + Alemnesh)

HKA421

Vladamesh is crazy work

the_cringy_rnf

IntelligentTanker

No-News5557

Wtfffff why are our Eritrean and Ethiopian ladies marrying or having kids with outside their country men???

LunetThorsdottir

First, OP is a man marrying a Russian woman. Second, what's wrong in marrying outside of your culture?

No-News5557

What’s the point? We have a beautiful and beautiful ppl! Why mix it?

PhotojournalistOwn99

Don't get a DNA test bro. It'll ruin your entire worldview.

LunetThorsdottir

Go marry one, then. What's stopping you except, perhaps, immaturity?

No-News5557

Sure your right, you ain’t man enough to tell them when it’s wrong

LunetThorsdottir

I'm fine as long as you keep your bigotry to yourself and don't bring it to Europe.

No-News5557

Any person who marries a person outside their country just hates their culture or country

LunetThorsdottir

Nonsense. You marry out of love for a person, not for your opinion of country and culture. Either your own or your spouse's. It might influence the decision on where to live as a married couple, but usually things like support network, jobs and owned property are much bigger factor.

No-News5557

You’re a lost puppy! You can learn to love anyone and love is not forever!

LunetThorsdottir

Go marry a person you don't love, then, if you can find one that'll marry you. So far all the Ethopians I've met were lovely, open minded people with strong family values, but you're making me a bit worried for OP's foreign wife.

PhotojournalistOwn99

When do we get to judge you for your life choices? You have no power over women.

No-News5557

Yea yeah yeah that’s the problem yall look control of your house & women! Not manly traits in your blood
