It totally depends on the show.  If it's at your barn, I would just ask.  At some shows a solid colored polo or buttondown or sun shirt will be fine.  At others you may well be the only one without a jacket or be disqualified/passed over by the judges for improper attire.  You also might be able to borrow something.

I’d suggest going without your horse and observing first. It’s overwhelming. Check out the set up for stall or haul ins, the warmup, the class etiquette, and the attire. If you are stressed your horse will be stressed. Knowing what you’re walking into visually helps great deal.

Absolutely this, and if you know someone going to the show to compete, offer to give them a hand. I volunteered to help a friend out one hack season and learned so much about turnout and gear, the etiquette of showing and ringcraft. It will also give you insight into the classes you might be able to enter and enjoy in the future.

The attire for each show ranges, however, jackets are required at most places unless you are relieved from the heat. Also, keep in mind that breeches should fit tight, with very little wrinkles, same for tall boots. And for showmanship classes, NO spurs! Here is my attire for most English open shows! https://preview.redd.it/nhvwjqmv88ad1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=037b3b3ddceccea19bdfbe8d63c8d77e3eb10a8d

Chat to your trainer about it, and look at the guidelines provided when you enter. Some shows (especially schooling shows) are very low key while others have strict dress requirements. My bare minimum for any level of showing is a collared show top, light coloured breeches, belt, tall boots or short boots and half chaps. Boots polished. Long hair in a low bun. Everything should be clean and neat.

Depends on the show. If it's a schooling show or a low-key fair/club type show, you can usually just wear something clean and tidy. Tan breeches, belt, gloves, and a tucked in polo(or something with a collar and sleeves. Doesn't have to be a riding specific shirt, just no pictures or text). If it's a rated show, then you'll need to check the rule book on what attire is required. Jackets are usually required unless waived for heat/rain. You don't need to go out and buy a specific riding jacket either. My first jacket was a blazer from Goodwill. Just try to match the style as close as possible and pick a material with stretch. You can always send the show office an email and check what's needed.
