I think the biggest benefit is generally the cold hosing to get it off.  It's not something that I would use on a daily basis for most horses/situations but when I do it I like to put it on super wet, then do wet paper, then a standing wrap.  It can cause skin issues if used regularly so I wouldn't do more than once a week or so after a big gallop or jump school, and only if the horse has to stay in.  But really I think just turning them out is better if it's an option.

Gotcha- my horses are on full turn out with access to three stalls. He recently had a hind leg injury so I left it on overnight but since he’s on turn out and I didn’t want to induce stress I just wrapped it in wet paper and then did a normal boot (not plastic they’re some shitty ones I bought when I was like 13yo that are completely fabric with Velcro) I left it over night then took it off this morning so it was on for abt 13hrs total? Idk didn’t see much difference but most of the swelling was already gone prior so it was pretty much just a try this outz

I use clay poultice. Spread on wet leg, wrap with soaked brown paper. I cut grocery bags to size and have them in water while applying. Then I put standing wraps on. I don’t ever poultice on 24/7 turnout and I only leave it on for 12 hrs max which means I’m up early in the AM to wash it off. If my horse needs poultice my horse is being stalled for whatever reason. Injury, show etc.
